i am going to say this again, you see the red ring hye jin wears in her middle finger.. which she doesn't in real life.. and drama hasn't specifically brought attention to it through dialogue but through camera angle..

that's their version of red string of fate :D

I think drama's subtle way of telling both from ring, shoes, encounters is that this was a fated r/shp.. and i don't think either has been in a real relationship (pretty sure both are virgins)

I think one arc that would be there is HJ asking DS to be a pretend boyfriend because her friends think DS is pursuing HJ.. they won't let that scene just be (i mean they can.. it is complete in a way as it made DS look like trophy material to HJ.. still)

but he used to live with his grandfather.. why would parents abandon him.. i'd think some close friend

parents is good..but then that picture has to be very old.. they died, and granddad took him in as a baby.. 5 yrs is still a different story
