Aside from Kaori's fate, the ending wasn't that bad (it's pretty obvious that they intend on having a 2nd season, IMO) but I stg, if things don't change for her next season, I'm gonna be pissed.
As much as I loved the ending, I still wish she would have ended up with Rei. :\ I'm a sucker for love triangles, and Rei really seemed like he had feelings for Sumi-chan. It would have been nice if they had gotten together instead.
I was into it up until the point at the end of episode 3 where they basically excused the dirtbag grandson's abusive behavior. Not only that, but they didn't report him AND he was still allowed to live with her? Are you kidding me??
And saying crap like "oh it's okay caring for elders is hard it's not your fault you turned abusive!" ...wow. i have no words for such vile, victim-shaming behavior.
Very disappointed a the brothers' reactions to their father's death. After EVERYTHING that vile human being did, you're still standing up for him? Saying you "don't have the right to judge him"? Acting like he didn't deserve to die?
Honestly, I'm so over that pseudo-moral attitude. I'd expect as much from Ryo, who insists on seeing the "good" in everyone, but the other brothers? Really?
They were all a bunch of doormats until the end. Such a shame. The drama would have been perfect were it not for that fact.
As great as it is to finally see more female leads in traditionally male-dominated fields, I was disappointed that they didn't do more to *dismiss* the constant sexism she faces. I mean, if anything, they seem to ENCOURAGE it. Even to the point of saying "oh, it's okay, she's ~different~ from other women. Just give her a chance and you'll see she's not even stupid and weak like women usually are."
They're lucky the series is as good as it is, 'cause the constant, blatant misogyny is just terrible. I mean, I know Japan still likes to pretend we live in the 1950's, but man. I've seen TV shows set in the frickin' 17th century that are less sexist than this.
I for one am perfectly fine with how it ended. I never got the vibe that Kuni was romantically interested in Haru. In fact, I think they made it pretty clear that his platonic "interest" in her was because she reminded him so much of his buddy. Plus, they stated from the beginning that Haru is the kind of person that draws others to her. They want to be around her and - in this case - help and protect her. I never, ever got a romantic vibe from Kuni.
I was actually hoping that one of the other guys would end up with Haru, though at the same time, it's always nice to see platonic male/female relationships, since Japan is especially fond of the whole "men and women can't be friends" nonsense.

Lol, really? Funny thing is I'm actually good with accents despite not having one.
Am I the only one here to think that Hanyu is an annoying? I hate his cheesy character. -_-
The problem with him isn't that he supposedly fights for what's right, it's that he's TOO much of a goody-goody, and ends up becoming a total hypocrite as a result.
He's an optimist; not a realist. Which is why I personally dislike him.
The beginning was just.. ugh. The storyline itself is great (though you don't really find out about the whole thing until the end), but the beginning? Just.. no.
All the sexism in this topic.. just disgusting. Clothing doesn't have a sex; it's an inanimate object. There is no such thing as "male" or "female" clothing. It's just a cloth.
But, oh well. It was still a great drama.
Fiction or not, am I the only one that realizes how screwed up and incredibly unhealthy that kind of relationship is??

Hopefully they'll make a third season sometime soon.
It just.. didn't draw me in, though.
Let people wear what they want to wear.
