Oh lol I didn't even think of it that way. I thought, d'aww what a dork, he's told no girls in his room after…
haha I actually like reading his expressions, I notice when Mom saw him & Gorya fighting, Mom has disspointed look since for her it’s like he cant handle a girl. Thyme after her Mom left, he kind of swallows, a lil indication how he’s scared of her.
On F4 Thailand: Boys over Flowers Jan 23, 2022
Thyme hiding Gorya when he brought her home. This intensify how scary his mother is, that Thyme is actually afraid of her and is not trying to risk Gorya being seen at their house. All other version, Mother is scary but all other Domyouji/Dao Ming Si will still answer back and didn’t hesitate to bring San Cai home.

EP 5 REVIEW

We start with Thyme being upset seeing her pictures and Gorya herself confirming it is indeed her. I’ve always seen this as realistic reaction even on other version. Thyme is a character who is more of an emotional reactor than a logical one. A contrast to Kavin who is more rational.

This episode is for Thyme. It solidify that yes, this is our main character.

some may like the bad boy/ villian ready to give the world to you story where the main character is all that and requires no character development because you love them bad, well I moved pass those stories, those can remain in my youth.

I’m in love with the fact that Thyme is gradually changing or slowly peeling off his bad boy mask, that he is self-aware, and chose to try to be better. To me, you can’t make a character have a believable change if there are no subtle scene to show he isn’t all that in the first place.

Thyme since the beginning, we see the subtle instances that he is more than just the hot headed bully. He reprimands those who taught that rape can be used. He felt taken back seeing they were about to use razor to bully a girl (this isnt even Gorya). He is soft with the kitten when no one can see.

And I am absolutely pleased that Thyme has never tried to kiss or hug Gorya. That their kiss so far are all just accidental, that I can feel that he is willing to wait for her to reciprocate his feelings before moving to those steps. His innocent reaction to their lips brushing fainty is just precious. (did it even touch? lol)

His confession to her and Gorya being shy after, that’s too cute!

Thyme saving Gorya and apologizing to her multiples times, and at that moment she sobs on him. That scene was amazing!

My heart skip a beat during the scene he softly grabs her face and tells her he would dress her wounds like that simple gestures are just everything!~

What makes Thyme & Gorya falling to each other, believable? It’s because all the moments that happen before. It’s the essential steps of getting to know each other and simply being happy on each other’s company.

Gorya admitting that she is mad at Thyme for not believing her, and that seeing his eyes, she felt hurt. Thyme flashing back to a smiling, laughing, and teasing Gorya.

“No one can be Gorya. Gorya is Gorya”

These two scene have such an impact because we have seen them on those first stage. It’s believable that Gorya is falling for Thyme even though she hasn’t realize it, and Thyme completely realizing he did have fallen for her.

“I didn’t know what it was at first, but I am sure now no matter how much pain I feel or whatever people say, in the end, deep down, I believe in her” - can I declare for the first time I’m all in for the male lead? that quote was too good.

That’s why a well written build-up relationship needs foundation for it to feel natural.

One thing i notice is Gorya now just simply laughing at his really bad way of using words. From yelling at him to now being amused. Such a nice touch.

Moving on to Hana, to be honest this is the best take they can do for her arc. Hana’s character has been bullied emotionally and took it too far. All other version was just her being a villian to help their love story progress. I like how in this version we see Thyme fully admitting to his mistake, and in that process he had given her back something that would help her the most, it’s her to choose to love herself, words from the person who she both love and hated. Words of a person she dedicated her life with.

Gorya saying goodbye to Hana who atleast for her in friendship department, had felt true during those time, and admittedly saying she may not forgive her (all hail to a character that does not need to forgive everybody to be kind). It’s a closure they both need.

The action sequence of Kavin was so smooth, very much well done. Kavin’s character along with Kaning, are perfect set up for second lead couple. Their little moments are nicely done. I’m a person who rarely likes both main couple & second couple at the same time. I can count in one hand the amount of dramas that I like both couples. In all other version as well, I usually either just like the main couple or only the second couple (ehem Korean version).

I have probably said this too many times, but Thai version really just upped the bar.

As someone who had watch and read wayyy too many stories. I have grown self-aware which story I can look back and say fully that “yeah that is so well done”

I have been with this whole BOF franchise since I was in 6th Grade (not even a high schooler yet) if I were to be asked before Thai version came, if I love the story, I would straight up say no. Aside from problematic parts, I enjoy watching each version during their time but I cannot simply rewatch them. This is a perfect example of story that are only good during that point of your life and that generation.

The story of Domyouji & Makino (in all other version) was an example of how a writer can simply spoon fed you that these two has now fallen in love, and you would go with the flow because acting can do that. Especially when you are young, it’s all about the emotion we see on screen and our mirror neurons responds.

This version, they have taken their time to develop the characters as well as their relationship. Thyme & Gorya’s characters are developing along with their story. I like how they made sure they have foundation of the relationship before they have them start running on obstacles. It’s like during a race, you have to warm up your body before running.

I love how we are seeing them progress, from hate, to gradually getting to know each other, to seeing the growth and realness right before their eyes, to spending time (teasing & happy on each other company), then slowing realizing their feelings. Each steps are essential. It makes their love story not forced, instead it felt natural. And that’s the beauty of building up a well written story.

(I’m now moving to my episode 5 review lol)

I’m surprise actually that after careful explanation & execution, the message was still not clear to you.If…
I’m not being defensive, I’m trying to understand your points but I’m coming up with over confusion because you contradict yourself a lot on your statement.

Like I have mention which I’m not sure if you read at all, They have explain thing in words (dialogue and gorya’s narration) and will show that specific scene, it has been their pattern of execution. And i don’t know how much more they can explain further than what you are asking.

I have given you examples right on my first reply, spare me some time and please reread them, those are only few, they are very straight forward actually.

the 500 baht scene, you said “condescending” i think you need to look up the meaning of the word because that does not make any sense here. There is nothing condescending in showing Thyme the value of single meal vs family meal. “Teaching” is NOT one pattern. There are many ways of teaching. Gorya have shown Thyme how a single meal in expensive restaurant equate to their family’s meal simply bec they have different financial stability.

And you mention she could have shown that their family meal equally good as expensive food, which is in fact on that scene. He is eating delicious food in a warm family environment. It even shows that he can have all the expensive food but they can never be as tasty and feel magic because he isn’t surrounded by laughter and love. That single scene had offered so much but you chose not to see it.

on Mira’s situation, if you have watch that scene you would have seen her pictures doing voluntary work (they don’t need to show a whole scene for her since that is going far from the story). Her heart has always been into such deeds. You didn’t need to have big scene in your life for you to want to volunteer. It a noble and kind gesture, again there’s nothing cheesy about it. Other version doesn’t also go deeper to her character’s decision. They don’t need to. Like I said, that’s going to far away from the root of the story.

ironic how you said “preachy” but you want things to be done specifically when there are many different ways approach to a story. you said the story has been “preachy” well a story is meant for the writer to teach it’s viewers lesson. a satisfying story is a story of it’s characters transformation as a result of their journey. it’s a writers way to convey a message it wants to put out there for viewers. If you are looking for a drama that doesn’t carry a message, this is not for you.

So I wanna talk about Kavin as he's written and how Win is playing him because I'm loving what they're doing with…
If I remember correctly, Kavin (in other versions) is someone who lost their first love because he is in a situation like every F4 member to not have the ability to choose who to love. He went through pain, it made his heart stone cold and the reason why he is playboy. He dates just whoever but never put his heart in there and never commit to relationship as his reality is clear as day to him. He had been there, one of big reason he is opposed to Thyme because of his experience and he saw it on Tia as well.

F4 members are not what they just appear to be and that what’s great about the show. I think thai version really upping it more as they give them a much in depth focus

I enjoy this half and half… I like ep 1-2, but ep 3 is a huge letdown for me, and ep 4 was okay? I don’t know…
I’m surprise actually that after careful explanation & execution, the message was still not clear to you.

If I’m reading this right, you don’t want it to be explain but you seem to not get the underlying message as well. You need action, but can’t seem to comprehend the scenes and what they are trying to convey.

Thyme is someone who is living under the pressure of his Mother. The pressure to be in control because control=power. Thyme tried to bribe Gorya when she went against him and ask her to publicly appologized so no one will follow her example of defiance. If you read his expression, he is in dilema of either stop her shaving her hair or not stop her so his power in school stays. He felt relieved when Ren came. He didn’t pressed about her shaving her hair after Ren interrupted when he could have. Also, you can tell he felt taken back seeing the ravor the first time and that wasn’t even Gorya, it shows that he didn’t want to cross the line, but he couldn’t bring himself to stop the bullies bec he doesn’t want to look weak.

Why did Gorya went to him in the rain? simply because she is kind, she felt guilty the whole day and to clear her conscience, she went to check if he is indeed waiting for her.

The whole “500 baht can feed my family” is not him trying to change him, it’s her teaching him that not everybody can afford expensive thing, that there are families like her that can feed with someone’s single meal

Also what’s with thinking that Gorya is trying to change everyone? no she isn’t trying to change anyone, she is encouraging and inspiring them with her kindness, there is a huge difference on that. She inspired Mira to grab on what she wants head on because she’s not happy with her life, she wants to help, she wants to make difference in the world. Gorya didn’t change Ren as well, she encourage him and show him another option, and that for him to follow Mira because Ren loves Mira.

fyi, there nothing cheesy with Mira trying to go to another country so she can serve people. She is volunteering in a place where she is just as herself, not someone’s rich daughter. What is cheesy about helping? there are a lot of children that are suffering, to Mira their smiles are greater than anything and that is noble not cheesy. The message here is in order to achieve something we really wanted, we do sacrifice something else and for Mira that’s Ren bec she knows a lot of people loves Ren. For Mira, she loves to serve people more than to be with someone she loves.

As far as I can see, this drama has done a great job not just explaning thing but showing them, When Kavin said that people on top faces pressure. It shows a scene of Thyme being told by his mother about control. When Gorya told Thyme 500 baht can feed her family, we were shown a scene where they all eat at a meal that cost on 500 baht.

If you are looking for more actions than explanation, you have to be able to read between the lines otherwise, it just looks like you are trying hard to find negativity when there’s none.

Despite it being 16 eps the total runtime of F4 thai is the same as Hana Yori Dongo, isn't it? It had 21 episodes…
@Aya
I would be more than pleased for them to cut the whole fiance thing short, it’s a messed of jealousy on each side, with the noble idiosy

I don’t mind amensia part as long as long as it was kept in one episode. Meteor Garden had dragged that thing way too long.

the TOJ didnt really serve a purpose lol they made it look like Mother dear had finally approved of them but totally not

I have look at the actual runtime, it’s only 50-55 mins. Also, they end at the exact point as HanaDan so far even with such difference although there are scene included that aren’t in Japan version (like family scene), but yeah at this time they are the exact spot of the story so if they continue that I’m assuming they are cutting a bunch of stuff that happens on second half of the story.
On F4 Thailand: Boys over Flowers Jan 18, 2022
This having 16 episodes only scares me because Hana Yori Dango despite it being condence already, it still has 21 episodes, and a movie for the wedding to be included.

Next episode was a test to Thyme. Someone who just recently trusted and fall for someone and see those pictures. It’s that one plot I didn’t like but totally understandable. It’s not realistic for him to see the pictures and immediately trust her when they just recently getting to know each other, but this was the start and he himself would realize he wants to trust her so it’s a pivotal point and I have expectation for them to execute it well.

This was also a start where Makino starts to feel something seeing Domyouji with Sakurako (Hana of this version) so I need that little nudge moment.

The episode for sure will ends with Ren coming back and hell breaks loose, it was the part of the story that I’m not very fond of

in HanaDan, Ep 5 was Makino asking Domyouji to believe in her, Ep 6 was Makino lying to him about being with Rui, and Domyouji won’t say anything about punching Yuki’s bf, it’s just a mess after another lol

Hello guys! Let's start a discussion ^^ why do you think Gorya goes to Thyme? And why Thyme fall for Gorya? I…
if we are talking about the waiting in the rain scene, Gorya went to him simply because she is kind and wants to check herself if he indeed waits for her.

At that point I don’t think she got feelings for him, but after they spend time and actually talk, she is starting to see the real him, and that’s the start.

EP 4 REVIEW

This version keeps surprising me how much more they can execute iconic scene so much better. One of my pet peeves on any enemies to lovers or hate to love relationship was the buil-up of the relationship.

I have been VERY picky throughout the years of watching asian dramas. One of my criteria for a really good romance drama is if they are following a realistic steps of healthy relationship.

Watching Ep 4 was a delight! during the “got locked-together scene” the fact that our main couple are actually having a proper conversation (no yelling / no blaming), opening up themselves, asking questions, and simply getting to know each other. This was the easiest thing that writers would overlooked, and I appauld this version for not missing that important piece of the puzzle.

Another thing for me was how to develop a relationship you would have to put through a serious test and obstacles that would makes your viewers care, and that is FOUNDATION.

In this episode, we have seen Thyme & Gorya teasing each other but in a level of COMFORT. Their playful banters that accompanies with smiles and laughter. I need this foundation of comfort and happiness before we are push through the agenda of them falling into each other especially when Gorya has someone else she likes.

Can I mention how much I love that Thyme didn’t downplay Ren infront of her. He didn’t went balistic jealous of why Ren? why not him? He knows himself, and you can feel his sincerity to try to win her heart and prove he is changing.

And the scene of Thyme with Gorya’s family is just so wholesome! I love that Thyme didn’t came acting almighty infront of them, and I like how Gorya’s family tried to include him as equal instead of treating him like some God. Wonderful writing!

Moving on to the scene of Kavin & MJ with Kaning. We can see two sides of friendship in here, and no side is right just different since they stand on different platform.

Kaning is that friend that is suportive but not invasive. Someone who gives advice but doesn’t overstep.

Kavin & MJ are those friends that look out for their friend simply because it was the only option they see.

We see two worlds here. One who can afford simply everything in exchange of their preplanned future. On other hand, those who struggle for daily needs, but are not restricted to choices. It is such a nice contrast as where their prespective are coming from.

The controversial scene of Gorya, I like that they didn’t make her naive to actually get drugged like how the other versions. And I so love how she knows she aint superwoman, she always have a weapon with her lol.

I also like how the scene was utilized to light up something to Gorya, when that man said “atleast have compassion for a guy who try to win your heart” I felt that, because in that moment her mind flashback to Thyme, we know she aint that stupid to realize that Thyme is indeed trying to win her heart. Unlike the other version that FL self denials has just become annoying.

One last thing to point out that I just love so far (which I hope stays that way) is that Thyme isn’t invasive of Gorya’s personal space.

Yes the other version is cute when he hug her in the rain, but the fact that he didn’t and just act like a normal person would after being stood up in the rain for hours lol. I find it refreshing.

but I notice after he took her home and make it seem he was gonna kiss her but he was just simply taking out dirt on her hair, and then his innocent look. You can tell here, Thyme isn’t planning on overstepping his boundering until he wins her heart. No sudden hugs nor no attempt on trying to kiss her. He wants to get to know her more and was asking for another date! ASKING! yeah i love that.

I can talk about this show the whole day. I lost track how many times I have watch this episode lol. I’m afraid all the good build-up of Thyme’s character will go down the drain next episode. I have hopes for the writers, pls dont bring me down!
On F4 Thailand: Boys over Flowers Jan 11, 2022
Some are not please with the pacing but I am more than please they cut through a whole bunch of bullying because that’s what makes the other version distasteful on my book.

I love how this version actually explain and gives a indepth look at the character and not make them 2 dimentional

Thyme is not just some bully. His character is very much molded by the mother even though his true nature was against it. His need to be in control because he was taught that control = power. The character of Domyouji in all version was someone who enjoys violence (which is a huge red flag to me) but Thyme is different, he is pressured to need to turn to violence inorder to have that control. That little scene with the kitten shows how much of his true self then immediately put a tough guy mask on when the sister shows up.

Gorya. I appreciated how much they show a conflicted decision to stand up for her friend versus staying out of trouble in school because she needed to graduate at that school. All other version her family is all about the bragging rights to have her in that school. This version shows she needed that name of the school in order to have a better opportunity for her future since asian countries loves to look at where you graduated. She isn’t just this spunky girl who acts whatever she wants without thinking of consequences.

Ren. I like how he isn’t just this quiet, calm, hero. I always find his character in other version to be flat. I like that he got angry, that in the middle of that anger he had laid a hand on Gorya because his pride was hurt esp in front the most important person to her (i dont like what he did but give another look to his character). It shows contrast to Thyme who has this tough mask that can easily release his anger but was just a softie inside, while Ren was this quiet gentleman that is dangerous when his bottle up anger release.

We will see more about Kavin’s story for sure, and I hope we can also take an indepth look on MJ.

They will seems to have a conversation with Thyme about Gorya potentially just catch fishing Thyme for money, this screams realistic how F4 have a hard time building relationship outside their circle because they felt the need to question those intention, but they didn’t know Thyme had already tried to “buy” Gorya before, he knows first hand that Gorya is not blinded by his money. Also Kavin & MJ both knows Gorya was into Ren, for her to be entertaining Thyme, they will question it for sure.

for every version that comes out, I have hopes for a more flesh out plot because as much as this story was part of my teenage years, and I have loved it then, it’s one of those story that I now question why, because the male lead is too toxic and the female lead is indecisive.

for this version, I must say for now, I am overall please or more than please with what they have done.

Taiwan ver. is too long with so many unecessary scenes that could have been condenced

Japan ver has that perfect pacing, though i wish they have more sweet couple scene (very much thankful they gave us that movie)

Korea ver female lead is just too annoying to swallow through (very bad acting aswell)

China ver there was this uncessary focus on a character that doesnt matter to the story, San Chai has gotten so frusrating in the middle of the story that I’m just pissed seeing her (I had to pause watching and waited when it was done so i can skip parts)

Thai ver is so far well flesh out which i hope wont disspoint me in the future. I need them to give more sweet scenes being a couple in order to pull more belivable angst in their journey to fight for their relationship

Obviously this production LOOKS stunning, the set for the stadium in particular is fantastic, everyone looks great…
I might add on ep 3 on the bus, when the bus starts, Gorya immediately able to grab a hold, while Thyme totally fell. This simple details show how Gorya is used to riding a bus while Thyme definitely don’t. I love the attention to detail.
for anyone who knows chinese culture, it is a recent culture where the groom picks up the bride and the bride’s friends and family gets to test the groom, and the groom had to give out money (red envelops)? I have recently watch Forever Love before this, and seeing the last episode, I was surprise it’s a thing for chinese bec on my culture, the groom isn’t allowed to see the bride untill her entourage. It’s so interesting i want to see more of it on the other shows bec I have watch a bunch of modern drama with weddings, but i only get to see it happen to the recent two dramas i watch.
to me, i have only fully enjoy this show when i just don’t relate it to the first GGS, which is a bummer bec naming it GGS 2 when one, Tong Nian is Squiddy so it really doesn’t relate to them and two, changing a whole set up from the 1st GGS (gaming, timeline events, etc) also the gaming part to be honest, i don’t feel their teamwork as much as when it’s CTF

the relationship of Wu Bai and Ai Qing got better on the latter 18+ episodes, I find their relationship great apart from the the scene where WB drag AQ and forces her inside the car, that is understandable (he is jealous) but not agreeable, i hated that they made it also seems like it was her fault for not understanding him better, other than that i like them, i wish they just show how WB learn from it not to be so possesive bec that’s just not good, it almost like assault when he did that.

Title Forever Love
this is a good youth modern drama in my opinion. the character development of the casts is quite good ... what…
Jiang Zhang Han’s parents are sitting on the couch next to Lin Xi’s, they just showed them going through her parents bec the mother was one of their main obstacles in the show, his parents shown approval even before they decide to marry (the mom giving Lin Xi the bracelet the day she met her)
one of the main reason for me to watch this is because of Wang An Yu, i love watching him, his playful sides here are just pleasure to watch, but I must say that even though he looks better here (style wise) his character as Jiang Zhang Han in Forever Love is a much much better one. Also, at first I was more into the second couple but after the whole crazy ex girlfiend and their on and off relationship, i started to loose interest, I better not see that ex again
