"If she decides to continue to work in this field, she will never regain mental stability..." How dare you write…
HAHAHA...this reply is so predictable from your type. Someone disagrees with you and continues to respond to the multiple replies you ALSO have written, but it's the other person who is "really angry and entitled..." lol Lord, get some originality in your excuses or just give up.
I'll get off the internet today if you will...how's that?
"...the words indicate deception." lol And you know this because you are a full-time detective and forensic language…
So what, moron? The point is that TWO paragraphs is too much for your type, so we know you didn't even begin to read 19 of them. Reading is a good thing that intelligent people enjoy doing. Which puts you outside that cohort.
F**k you, netizen suicide enabler. I'm guessing you're looking forward to hearing she was found hanging from the coat rack in her closet. I'm curious: Are you Korean or otherwise East Asian? It sounds like you are.
That's not an explanation, that's a repeat of what you said before. As I assumed, you haven't even read the statement, given that it's too long for you. Move along, netizen suicide-enabler.
"If she decides to continue to work in this field, she will never regain mental stability..." How dare you write…
"maturity," "toxic fangirl on her period." lol Yup, you're an idiot alright. And a very defensive one. Please point out where I said my opinion was "professional" one. Did you know that putting words in quotation marks is meant to indicate you're, you know, QUOTING someone? I never said that...idiot. YOU are the one who implied you're a psychiatrist. hahaha Also please note the use of the word "likely" in my suggestion for a course of action other than giving up doing the things she loves to avoid people like you, as you so helpfully prescribed. A better idea: Please don't point out anything in reply. I don't like to waste my time corresponding with idiotic fake psychiatrists who can't write or read properly. However did you make it through med school without those skills? Thanks.
"If she decides to continue to work in this field, she will never regain mental stability..." How dare you write…
As I wrote, you just presumed to diagnose her mental/emotional condition based on a statement put out for PR purposes. You don't know jack about who she is and what she's about.
Oh, also, you're an idiot. I have never seen this woman in anything, like, ever. I never heard of her until now. I don't watch Chinese stuff in general. But I've seen this cycle played out a hundred times before, especially in Korea, where performers kill themselves with tragic regularity because of people like you making all sorts of assumptions they lack the right and information to make.
What she likely really needs is to keep doing what she loves to, but with proper mental/emotional support along the way. Why don't you send your contact info to her agency since you claim you're a psychiatrist now? lol
I spent most of this episode tearing up with feels off and on...nice. I do like that the show isn't spending a lot of time on the side couple because in many series that takes valuable time away from the mains. That said, the sides are so engaging and adorable I'm a tad frustrated that I'm not seeing more. Their slight daddy/son vibe is a turn-on. :)
Omg sweetie ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜This is so sad. Why does she blame herself and say such self-deprecating things? I'm sorry…
Horribly, that is standard operating procedure in Asian countries. When TOP attempted suicide, after he recovered the first thing he did was APOLOGIZE to the public for "causing concern." Yoo Ah In, about whom I am very worried, has been doing the same throughout nearly two years of law enforcement, media, and netizens torturing him for a "crime" in which he hurt no one but himself.
These cultures never stop making demands of successful people, even under circumstances like that. Thus, many finally give up and kill themselves. After which the country pretends to be "shocked!!!" Disgusting.
I hope she gets better, quits acting and this toxic environment, because she is not fit for it. She is to fragile…
"If she decides to continue to work in this field, she will never regain mental stability..." How dare you write such a thing. This is exactly what I mean in my comment above about haters now using this statement as an excuse to pick it and her apart, setting up another whole BS set of expectations. You don't know what you're talking about. You are not a psychiatrist//therapist. You don't know if she "is too fragile" or any of the other BS you just spewed.
Who would have thought that behind her bright cheerful smiles and laughs, there was lots of pains and anxiety.…
Thousands of successful entertainers/celebs all over the world do this very thing every day and especially in Korea, too many end up killing themselves. Everyone should "have thought," that's who.
Of course, she never should have had to expose her private life like this to appease the sadistic netizens, some of whom are here on MDL. Now that she has, they will only begin to pick apart the statement above, looking for things to nit-pick and accuse her of lying about.
Notice too, that in the first couple of paragraphs she basically apologizes for existing and being successful, which neither she or anyone else is obliged to do. I wish actors/idols/others would learn the futility of attempting to satiate that which can not be satiated: Social media/online vitriol and judgement.
Her response should have consisted of one phrase, "Happy New Year!," accompanied by a photo of her looking healthy and happy while flipping off the very sick people who have been hounding her.
Are you unaware that Muhammed the founder of Islam was a brutal warlord whose armies killed thousands who refused…
You are an ignorant, brainwashed muslim apparently. Thus I will waste no further time on you. Muhammed, despite anything else he may have been, was absolutely a brutal warlord who killed thousands of people for refusing to convert to his new, made-up religion. Do some research. There is no reason for you not to, given the existence of this thing called the Internet. ALL historians outside your violent religion agree that Muhammed led murderous armies that promoted Islam by force. Get a brain cell indeed.
If you're one of those who scoff at the reliability of Wikipedia, please note that ALL relevant facts are linked to their reliable sources. If you don't like Wikipedia, there are about 200,000 other sources that describe Muhammed's campaigns to force his religion of Jews, Christians, Pagans, and others. Other of his wars of aggression later in life were fought for political/geographical dominance. Grow up.
What you wrote about S2 of SG is pretty much exactly what I've gathered from my own reading and another reason I'm in no hurry to watch it. Are you familiar with the "Hunger Games" series of films here in the U.S.? HUGE hit, probably world-wide too. I saw the first one and thought it was stupid. lol So that was it for me. And from what I've gathered, SG is a very similar concept.
I don't think I'm better than anyone else, but I have NEVER been one to sit and watch something just to pass time. I have to feel engaged with what I'm seeing, as well as not feel insulted by the level of writing/acting/direction/production. If it's not really grabbing me, I'm out. I don't hesitate to drop films if they're not above average. I mean, why not? There are still many thousands of other films/series in the world I haven't seen that I'd rather spend the time giving a shot to.
I just read up on the "scandal" surrounding Park Sung Hoon and the hilariously titled porn parody of Squid Games called "Squirt Games" and I'm dying. First of all, I'm dying at the laugh-out-loud name of the parody. But I'm not laughing at the stupid, insane, Church Lady netizens trying to wreck his career over the matter.
Only one thing need be said: HE POSTED THE COVER AND TOOK IT BACK DOWN IN LESS THAN 60 SECONDS. So, clearly one of two things happened: Either he put it up deliberately but immediately thought better of it and took it down, OR he put it up accidentally but immediately caught his mistake and took it down. Either way, the idea that this is a "thing" to be screeched about rather than laughed about (because that is exactly what would happen in the U.S.) shows how long and hard that Puritanical rod Korea still has up its ass is. My dear god.
I wish, just once, an agency instead of apologizing and groveling before the public in a statement, would say something like " PSH put it up, changed his mind and took it down in under 60 seconds. We will continue to back him 100% in all his current commitments and going forward. To the netizens and so-called journalists trying to make this a thing, please get a life."
I googled the covers of the porn parody. They are hilariously tacky, as porn covers usually are. At worst, one cover has an uncovered boob. Most covers, I don't know which one PSH put up, have NO uncovered intimate body parts, yet articles about this describe them as "explicit." Explicit is a clear shot of a peen going in and out of a vajay-jay, not a woman in a bra. I saw a netizen comment saying that they were "afraid" for the safety of the female kpop idol who is slated to act opposite PSH in some upcoming series. hahaha...omg, these people are nutjobs, and yet this is the thinking by far too many in Korea.
I did some research a couple months ago about where this vicious Puritanical streak in Korean society comes from. It is a hangover from the earliest days of the first military dictatorship that ruled Korea. In its quest to control every Korean right down to their personal life choices, the regime instituted purity/morality-type laws that were a mirror image of what the Commies up north do: Sex outside marriage, homosexuality, porn, drugs, even dirty jokes and free speech, were all cracked down on and these laws were strictly enforced. And the country still hasn't gotten over it.
Thankfully, this will change greatly as the old farts (and I am one) in Korea die off. Adults younger than 45 have a hugely different attitude toward premarital sex, unmarried couples living together, porn, marijuana, and all sorts of other issues. The government controlling one's personal life is just abhorrent to me, as it should be in any free society.
Regarding the 35 years of Korean dictatorships, as an American I am appalled that my government, after investing so much money, lives, time and effort into pushing the NKs and Chinese back out of SK in the Korean War, did not then lean on the country hard afterwards to be a full-fledged democracy, as it did in Japan. After WW2, Japan was allowed to keep its emperor (though he had NO power), but otherwise remade the government into a parlimantary democracy and remade the society as a whole from one of macho Samurai culture into one of the most powerful, productive countries on Earth. (There are societal downsides to that, but those are for another post.) Why the U.S. did not do the same with Korea is something I don't yet understand.
BTW, I love that the SG porn parody came out of Japan. lol Japan got real kinky real fast after WW2. :D
Finally, you are spot-on, and I've said it many times as well, it is ABSURD that Korea's crazy-ass Soju/alcoholism issues are not considered a problem by the government, despite the human cost and cost of billions of $$$ in productivity, health care, etc. Yes, booze is a drug, but it's ingrained in the culture so it's ignored. Korea is the most alcoholic nation in the developed world.
This has gotten much longer than I intended. If there's a next time, I'll DM you.
I'll get off the internet today if you will...how's that?

The out-take at the end is hilarious.

Put a sock in it.
