Boy, THAT'S original! If that is what happens in the rest of this adaptation, this series will slide all the way down the crapper for me. I can't believe BL authors are STILL repeating that endlessly repeated trope. If they do so here, I'm giving this developing mess a very low rating.

At what episode did they start dating/confess/kiss? I'm on ep 7 and starting to get bored without any romance.
yep

wtf are you talking about? Since when do high school kids wait until they're 18 to date/have romances/have sex? The actors are 29 and 30 so you can't whine about that either. Lord.

omg...I thought nothing about MDL shocked me anymore. But that you drew all this out of this painfully trope-ish and cliche and lame episode. I challenge you to list ONE original aspect of this episode, other than the bare butts, which nice as they were, were another example of how desperate for filler this episode was.

I’m frankly a bit surprised that some viewers did not enjoy the brief (brief-less) rear-view-only streaking…
MDL is chock-full of killjoys and prudes. I haven't made it further down the comment thread yet, but I will be one hundred percent unsurprised to see displeasure at the sight of so many delightfully peachy boy-butts. These people are prudish as prunes, so wrinkled with sex-phobia, they've turned inside out.

Title The On1y One
Episode 11:

What the hell happened? This episode was Bad Buddy-level bad. wtf?

I was in it for the beginning; even suffered major feels during the first race and a few times leading up to it. There is an ongoing/chemistry between the MC that carries over into everything I see them do together; every interaction.

But then, the middle 45 minutes were utter, absurdly unoriginal, classic BL filler. A school track meet. Bogus injuries and first aid kits everywhere. Back-carrying. Sprained ankles and bandaged scrapes. Worst of all, the teacher-being-kidnapped subplot was embarrassingly amateur; poorly written, acted, and directed. I wasn't sure who this gang was or why they were threatening Miss Jang or whoever. Her feeble attempts to appear scared were lol-lame. Then the two (gay?) teachers came to the rescue and we got that odd/awkward Kung Fu fight (more embarrassment).

The bizarre gay/bi/straight (?) teacher love triangle is a confusing mess and serves only as additional filler in an episode already filled with filler.

Everything about the track meet was lame. I was horrified at the thought of the squat/obese director streaking. Thank god we got all those nice, young boy-butts instead. And as delightful as that view was, the streaking thing was yet another out-of-the-blue, weird aspect of this episode. The entire thing was spent killing time. Nothing I can think of moved the central plot forward; not at all. I can hear the writers in the meeting for this episode (assuming they bothered to have one), saying "come on, come on...think, people, think! We 50 minutes to fill!!!! Anything will do!"

Little Pepper is precious.
Bei Ting is charismatic and hot.
Jed Cheung is my boyfriend.
Teacher Xi's distinctive brand of handsome is mesmerizing.
The psycho smart kid is also incredibly good-looking.
The chubby teacher with the striking China-eyes is enjoyable.

This show seems to have avoided the Korean curse of excessive white face powder, but now everyone's teeth are so bright-white that I had to fetch my sunglasses to get through the episode.

OK, this was really bad; made all the more so because so much of what went before in the series was so well-done. Bizarre. The only up-side is that now I feel like this show could go either way: Regain its earlier footing and finish as an above-average BL, or continue its current downward trajectory and totally bomb, so there is excitement and tension in not knowing how that aspect will go. However, I'm pretty sure this was not an intentional sort of dramatic tension, but the result of the Bad-Buddy-syndrome.

I think the detailed scenes with the parents were important. For me, it symbolizes an active end to loads that…
That's what I mean. To me, the writers deliberately made it seem they'd have a two-man room when that was never going to be the case. SW specifically speaks, on several occasions, of the fact that JT had never had a physical space that felt like a home to him, where he could stay forever if he wanted. That is why JT left his clothes in a suitcase in the closet. SW never said or implied that HE was JT's home and that wherever they were together was their "home." He spoke of the dorm as JT's "first home." Then we get to their first home and there are two other dudes living there already. lol

You don't have to agree with me. I like this show a lot and the dorm room thing is not a catastrophe, just a transparent misdirection by the writers.

What's odd to me, is that in my view the writers missed a great opportunity for a minor but powerful bit of extra angst/drama. Why not have JT/SW anticipating having their own room, then show us their disappointment when they learn that is not the case? The way it went, they didn't care one way or the other, which is unrealistic.

They've done everything but confess to each other, they are reveling in their companionship when it is just the two of them, yet they suddenly don't mind that they're sharing their new "home" with two other guys?

Could you please clarify your position on "More Than Words?" I ask because you say you "really like" it, but then later say you "don't care for the top 4" when it is #4. I'm confused. Another reason I ask because that is one I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaated initially because of what I saw as that vile, psychotic fag hag deliberately tearing the gay couple apart. However, I let it slither onto my "best" list because I simply could not stop thinking about it, so I knew it had moved me, whether I liked it or not.

Then, I watched it two more times, moving it higher on my list each time. I came to a nearly 180 degree opposite position on the fag hag from where I initially thought about her.

Thoughts?

Sorry, History 3: MODC rules. I have yet to share my theory on the true meaning of the last one and a half episodes with you, which I've no doubt will bring you around to the correct perspective on the show. :D

Blueming has an 8/10 MDL rating, which isn't all that high for this place.
I have yet to rewatch Unknown but I'm good with its current position on my list.

Glad to be of entertainment value to you.
Hmmm...calling myself a "smart-ass," a negative, self-deprecating term, as a sign of "narcissism?" Ummm...no. A narcissist would refer to themself as a "great wit" or "exceptional wordsmith," NOT a "smart-ass."

"Narcissist" is another word being driven to the outer edges of meaninglessness by its overuse in present American culture and indeed, all over the world. In that sense, it is similar to the following, overused words on MDL, and all over over the Internet for that matter (I plead guilty on "like.":

Hi. From my earlier comment: "How is this to feel as if it's Tian's "home" when they're sharing it with two other dudes? " Four-man rooms are certainly not uncommon, it's just that all the emotional, dramatic talk of the dorm being their "home" led me at least, if no one else, to assume they were going to have their own, two-man rooms, as those are also extremely common.

Furthermore, there was zero mention of the fact they'd be in a four-,man room with two guys they already knew, which seems odd. Even if they didn't know WHO the other two guys would be, they would have definitely known they didn't have a room to themselves, yet this was never mentioned in all the cozy talk of a "home" in the dorm.

So, the four-man thing came as a surprise to me. Is there anyone here who can claim to have known ahead of time it was not a two-man room? Yet, the characters showed no surprise at all meaning they KNEW of this, making its non-mention seem all the more deliberate on the part of the writer.

It's not some kind of deal-breaker on how much I like the series, but it feels like one of those illogical/implausible surprises writers throw in to spice things up without bothering to introduce the surprise in a believable way. It's one of the small things about a lot of BL writing that is annoying, cliche, and unnecessary.

Again, there's no reason it can't be a four-man room. Just don't lead me to assume they're going to have their own place, or make it believable that they haven't mentioned that for some reason.

hee hee...you're (I'm) brilliant!

This is just some little kid, probably from outside the U.S. who hates me because I write what i want in a smart-ass manner that drives them insane. It thinks it's giving it to me good, lecturing me about my "attention-seeking" as my the only possible reason for my loathing of BB, but with these incessant replies to someone it "doesn't care about," it's revealing how unsure it is about its reasons for loving that POS.

I get lots of lectures on my motivations here from the LGs and others when they run out of arguments. It can be entertaining and educational as to how humans project their free-floating insecurities/anger in the face of Internet randos who disagree with them.

Thanks for the support, you (me).

oh look, it's back again to reply to the commenter whose opinion it "doesn't care about." lol

My comment explains clearly what the comparison is about. If the same low level of intelligence that makes you a BB fan renders you unable to comprehend my comparison, well, that's your problem.
While my rigorous research has shown that only about 75% of MDL members are stupid, the same methods have shown that 100% of Bad Buddy fans are stupid. It's quite a striking dichotomy.

With these endless, lame replies to a commenter you "don't care about," you seem to be someone who is looking for attention...

Yet another reply to a commenter whose opinion you "don't care about..." lol "Bad Buddy..." lol Like Bad Buddy, Donald Trump is a turd. Many millions of dumb Americans voted for Donald Trump and elected him POTUS. Donald Trump remains a turd...just like the turd you worship, BB.

Why did you once again apply to another of my comments you don't "care about?" Oh god, please don't answer...never mind.
