Episodes 3 & 4:

Shit's about to hit the fan, and I like it. :)
The vibe between Akira and his "tutor" is...odd, but it might be mostly how the director is presenting it that feels off. I guess they live together...? But they hardly touch, and the atmosphere when they're together doesn't feel relaxed or natural.

Got a tad draggy in episode 3.
Also, the ambience here is nearly identical to a hundred other Jbls, in that everyone seems a bit depressed, people mostly talk around things, and of course, there's the classic Jbl terror of physical intimacy in the direction.

Oh well, I'm enjoying it for the most part.

Oh Lord...Please ask whoever replies to put their answer behind a spoiler tag.
You know...sometimes a live-action adaptation can vary significantly from its source/inspiration. Just sayin...

Episode 3:
This is all over the map in production quality and acting, but the core story is interesting, and I'm questioning the motives of almost every character, which is the kind of thing I dig. I especially enjoy the sleazy dude. :)

Seems like if you have a partner who's willing to support you while you go to school, graduate, then get out and start making the $$$, at which point you WILL be able to give back, that is an offer one should accept. Otherwise, what? Leave and just...stay poor?

Was Moonbin’s suicide due to overwhelming public criticism?
26.2 suicides per 100,000 people, highest among OECD member nations, the highest rate in the world, and far higher than second place, which I don't recall at the moment.
God knows the US, where I live, is deeply fucked up, especially now, but Korea's suicide rate is almost TWICE as high as ours.
Korea also has the highest rate of alcoholism and alcohol-related deaths per year.

Really sad.

A masterclass in emotional storytelling. This drama beautifully captures the ache of unrequited love and the weight…
Nice AI comment.

Why the low ratings? It is actually really good! I'm so picky about what I watch, and I avoided it because of…
The low ratings are because it's MDL, which is populated mostly by Western Little Girls who like fluffy nonsense and are politically correct to the point of insanity.
Oh, they also have bad taste.
90% of the time, up is down and down is up on MDL. Shit shows get 9.7 ratings and excellent shows/movies get 6.5s. Who the hell knows? Anything with a little depth or nuance or darkness throws these children into a tizzy.

am I the only one that thinks this has been just a little bit boring so far? but I believe it will pick up for…
It does have a measured pace, but for whatever reason, it works for me, and I'm not bored. I love the overall rustic atmosphere of the guesthouse and town, the scenery, and the characters. I think I'm picking up on dynamics between/among characters through mostly subtle incidents and acting, and that is keeping me in the game.

I like the show very much.

Kuji's house is so beautiful. Looks very lived in rather than a pristine set. Super good production design.
Bingo! This is what I thought all through the first episode.
Most BLs look as if they rented an apartment or house for two days and didn't want to make holes in the walls or smudge anything so they wouldn't lose a deposit fee. :) Everything pristine and sterile-looking.

Kuji's house was not only beautiful, but I totally believed he'd been living there for quite some time. I also noticed the beautiful woodwork/moldings/door frames, which aren't common in Japan, given that damn near every house in the country was burned to the ground in world war two, and since then, Japanese people tend to think of houses like we in the US think of cars. They expect houses to depreciate over 40 years and eventually be torn down, so you don't see a lot of investment and care taken to things such as wood moldings.

Anyway, kudos to the design crew.

WDH's physical transformation in season 1, which I only recently watched, was sensational.
I noticed immediately in episode 7, how much bulkier he was and thought often about how hard he must have trained to get that way. Now I know.
I'm much more a fan of the leaner look of his costar, however.

Not sure what he means here, "I don't remember using a stunt double at all, so I did mention wanting to swap faces with AI." If he didn't use a stunt double, why would he need to "swap faces" with AI? Maybe he WANTS to use a stunt double more?

I'm not a big fan of actors doing extremely dangerous stunts that can be handled by a stunt double, especially now that AI tech makes it possible to make the double look like the actor. Why risk the life or body of a professional actor just for macho points?

Looking forward to watching Season 2, though I'm concerned the story will veer from the human relationships involved, which is what Korean thrillers do so well, and which makes me care intensely about the characters, to focusing entirely on physical action.

This is precisely what happened to Season 2 of Weak Hero Class. Season 1 was about the bullying, the reactions of characters to that bullying, and complicated relationships among the three students fighting back. Season 2 became a martial arts extravaganza, one lame fight scene after another...I was bored and forced myself to finish. I'm not one to watch a movie or drama just for the action itself. There has to be a foundation of human beings who have been established as distinct individuals, some good, some bad, and many in-between.

I value gray-area characters the most, the ones who struggle with their flaws, make mistakes, maybe some questionable choices, and are sometimes tempted into shady activities. There can be no redemption without first showing us some sin. :)

Ryusei has been in the Japanese version of 'Nevertheless' (brilliant) , "The Journalist' and romantic comedies…
I don't watch many dramas/series, but I will check those out.
Movies are my thing.
Thanks for the recs.

I adore shady relationships of any kind in live-action stories. I'm evil that way. :)

Episode 1:
Good vibe.
This one features a high school setting, a frequent miliue in Jbls. It is well-done with a big budget, so there are lots of extras, and everything feels authentic.
The meetup on the stairs just inside doors to the school's roof reminds me of that Jbl with the guitar players and the kid that scream-sang or something.
Anyway, of course, the lock on the doors is broken so that multiple students can randomly make their way out onto the roof and jump, or at least stand on the edge, threatening to do so.
But I digress.

Both MLs seem like talented actors, thus far. No one appears to be 45 years old. And they're both very good-looking.
Did you know that dimples occur in 20-30% of humans and is universally considered an attractive, positive feature, signaling friendliness, intelligence, and more? It's true!
And all this from a physical trait that is caused by a DEFECT in the muscles underlying the cheeks. Google it.

Also, speaking of cheeks, my god, the cheekbones on these guys...like switchblades. That's a good thing. I'm of German descent. Germans generally don't do cheekbones.

Oh, sorry, my bad.
There are so many age gap-obsessed, Puritanical Little Girls on this site that I assumed you were one of them. :)

How was I to know there was another normal person here with a keen, understated sense of sarcasm? :D
