Episode 3: The actor playing Lee Songjae does a believable drunk. He doesn't overdo it.
When I first started watching Korean films and dramas, I assumed the endless boozing was an exaggeration, but I was wrong. Koreans slam booze, usually Soju, like most of us breathe. #1 in the world for alcoholism...and suicide. I'm sure there's totally no connection between the two...
Episode 4: I couldn't finish this episode...too boring. Sadly, this started out intriguing, but became increasingly cliche, stupid, and badly written. Acting was iffy here and there, too.
This show has become unintentionally hilarious, but not enough so to overcome the boredom I'm feeling. The way the film-within-the-drama is being shot is absurd. The director never directs and is a buffoon. The costumes for the film are about as gay as you can get. Worst of all, the film scenes are dull. The dubbing and the breathless overacting of the voice actors are cringe to the max. The ridiculously loud sound effects such as doors opening and matches lighting a candle are also cringe but also hilarious. Every time these fey young men talk about their "girlfriends," I snort.
I could go on and on...
Chinese BLs are a whole other...thing and the thing they are is not for me.
Oh, bullshit. His fans are no more psycho than any other group of crazed Asian fans obsessed with their idol/actor…
Primarily, it's the producers, studios, and agents who should be calling them out and not giving them attention. If the major studios joined forces and agreed to some kind of system by which all would do just that, the psycho toxic fan thing could be significantly curtailed.
On a 10-point scale, how is 7.9 a bad rating? You must be one of the MDL up-raters.
After hanging around MDL for more years than I'm willing to admit, it's clear, according to the scuttlebut in comments, that that is exactly what happens to shows with challenging, controversial, or mature themes. The ten-year-olds here see "sex" in the synopsis, down-rate the show, then get all their minions to do likewise.
The opposite happens for shows that these people fangirl over.
I do rate shows that I watch part of and then drop. If they're so bad that I can't stand to keep watching, they deserve a bad rating. :)
what are we really doing here under this comment 😭 but i honestly can't say i didn't notice how skinny the…
Of course, you noticed. You are human and have eyeballs to take in visual information, a brain to process that information, and the ability to communicate with others about how that information affects your perception of the work you're seeing, yes?
These weirdos who pretend they don't see body differences and that it's a war crime to discuss the bodies of people in the entertainment business, most of whom put a great deal of time, effort, and money into how their bodies look, whether it's gym workouts, dieting, gorging, training, plastic surgery, or makeup, are full of shit.
They're even more full of shit for telling other people what to think and say.
I said the dude was "skinny." The psycho who replied acted as if I'd said he was an ugly piece of shit for being skinny and should go to Hell.

My reply had nothing to do with the specific rating of this show.
I responded to your assertion that 7.9 out of a possible 10 is a "low" score. I read that canard over and over in comments all over MDL. Why have 10 possible rating points when anything below an 8 is "low?" 7.9 is the high end of average, if not better, or the low end of above average.
The canard I mentioned is the reason MDL ratings are meaningless when compared to ratings on other platforms. There's a lot of very young...persons...here, who overrate their pet shows, and down-rate anything they don't understand or with mature/sexual themes that scare them, often without bothering to watch the shows they're down-rating.
THAT'S why I bothered to comment in the first place.
commenting on someone's body like that is disgusting behaviour btw. him being skinny doesn't give you any right…
Oh, cool...thank you for noticing how edgy I am.
But...OH MY GOD, YOU SICK, DISGUSTING, CREEPY PERV!!! The kid was only 16, yet there you were, noticing his body, his "physique" (gasp!) and having nasty thoughts about its shape and size! You vile, despicable twat! You absolute pedophile skank! You thought-raping, twisted vermin!
You're just all of those things and a whiny asshole, too. (It's weird how you called me that, then lol'd at yourself as though your insult were witty.)
Who said anything about his acting, one way or the other? And there you go again, talking about his body. Get yourself out of the gutter, skank.
Most of all, who said anything about anyone being "aroused?" (It's weird how you put that word in quotes as though someone had used it in this discussion.) You're clearly projecting the arousal YOU felt when this guy was 16, onto me. Gross. I feel violated and filthy.

Oh, you silly comment police person...
An actor/entertainer's body is a huge part of their character's visual presentation. An actor's body is their instrument.
Actors often go to great lengths to change their bodies to fit the vision they and the director have of how the character looks. For idiots like you to pretend you don't notice how an actor's body looks, moves, and what it tells us about their character is complete bullshit. And for idiots like you to tell me or anyone else what they are allowed to say about an actor's body is also complete bullshit.
You noticed how skinny he was, just as I and everybody else in the audience did. The actor may even have lost weight for this role to get the SKINNY, tall, almost gaunt body we saw on the screen. He and the director WANT us to notice and to talk about it. You are free not to talk about it, of course, but you can take your Officer Body Positive Speech Police act and shove it.
ZZ: "I must get this gay role!" Also ZZ: "I can't do this with men!"
ZZ's virginal maiden act is getting old fast. Both actors are holding back on the kisses, which is always annoying. The drama's idea of a movie set is ridiculous. The director hasn't directed a damn thing yet, and why is he sitting in a kitchen? The director's cigar schtick is lame.
This is pretty bad, but I can't say it's not entertaining.

Multiple plot holes.
Waste of a great cast.
Dropped.
That's what you've got?
(That was my comeback.)
Indeed. :D
Nah...I'm out.

If you don't engage with people whose opinions vary from your own, how to you learn anything? Oh...I see...you don't.
Are you one of the many here who are challenged by multiple paragraph comments/replies? If so, sorry to upset you.
Feel free to ignore or block me.

You're right, "WW" and "TA" DO have a better flow.
I'm an alliteration freak.
However will we go on living?
