USA - The half of it that hates Donald Trump as much as you do.
Lily Alice May 21, 2024
Here is my favorite poem, by Jacob Nordby.
I dedicate this to Yoo Ah In and all the other creative, soulful, gentle "weird people" out there, including myself:

Blessed are the weird people -

poets, misfits, writers, mystics, heretics, painters and troubadours-
for they teach us to see the world through different eyes.

Blessed are those who embrace the intensity of life’s pain and pleasure -
for they shall be rewarded with uncommon ecstasy.

Blessed are ye who see beauty in ugliness -
for you shall transform our vision of how the world might be.

Blessed are the bold and whimsical -
for their imagination shatters ancient boundaries of fear for us all.

Blessed are ye who are mocked for unbridled expression of love in all its forms -
because your kind of crazy is exactly that freedom for which the world
is unconsciously begging.

Blessed are those who have endured breaking by life -
for they are the resplendent cracks through which the light shines.

— Jacob Nordby

Yoo's cracks are indeed glorious. I hope he lives a long, happy, and full life sharing the blinding light that shines through them for the rest of us to enjoy. I also hope he gets out of Korea, to a country where he will be supported and celebrated rather than vilified.

Come to the USA, Yoo! Hollywood is waiting!
Lily Alice May 21, 2024
Hold on, Yoo! Millions of people are pulling for you, praying for you, and wishing you the best. I hope you have a strong friends/family support system to help you get through this. You are a one-in-a-million talent, and give so many millions of us pleasure through your acting, charisma, and gentle spirit. Please keep getting the help you need and seriously, fuck the haters. They are less than nothing.

Don't leave us. You would break my heart.

For over a year, I have been terrified that YAI, one of Korea's most talented and charismatic actors, will kill himself over this show trial/media circus insanity over his drug issues. This article proves I was right to worry. The "tough on drugs" people in this thread disgust me. You morons are more concerned for your imagined moral superiority than you are for a sensible policy toward drug issues and a legal framework that regards addiction as the DISEASE it is, and for treatment to deal with it.

Why do I get the feeling the moral scolds in this thread wouldn't be all that bothered if Yoo took the same route out as did Lee Sun Kyun to end the humiliating, soul-destroying spectacle he was subjected to? I get that feeling because it's true; they wouldn't be bothered at all. They'd just say "he brought in on himself" and move on to help kill the next victim of the Psycho Korean Celeb/Media/Fan Suicide Machine.

Why are you self-righteous jackals not concerned about the massive ALCOHOL problem in Korea, which has the highest rate of alcoholism in the world? WTF do you not care about Soju destroying lives, families, killing people via drunk driving, along with all the other ways it costs society in lost worker productivity, medical care, etc? You don't care because you're pompous scolds with little to no powers of discernment. The entire universe is made up of grays, but you live in black and white.

Oh, and Korea has the highest suicide rate in the world too. More than TWICE that of the U.S. So...to summarize: Alcohol abuse, alcoholism, and all its related costs are fine, along with suicide, but if someone lights up a joint we should all shit our pants. Do I have that right?

The western kids glove approach to drugs and crime does not work. In fact, it's a complete and utter disaster.…
Here come the "tough on drugs" idiots. People doing drugs will never stop; it has been a thing for centuries. The best that can be done is to control and manage it, as you will never, ever stop it. And you certainly won't stop it with show trials like the one YAI is undergoing, put on much more for the media and public than for reasons of efficacy in fighting drugs.

Your fantasy that the West is falling apart is amusing, as I've been hearing that idiocy since the 1960s, when drugs were a Hippie thing.

Hey, have you ever heard of this thing called ALCOHOL? Every night the gutters of Seoul run deep with Soju/vomit from all the abusive drinking, which people do to escape the insane pressures of the work culture combined with all the Korean, conservative cultural values that combine to give Korea the highest suicide rate in the developed world. Did you know Korea's suicide rate is more than TWICE that of the USA? Oh no, the East is disintegrating!!!!

Where is your pompous outrage about booze?

So what? Adults should be able to do whatever they want as long as no one else gets hurt. You have never had a…
You're not very discerning or thoughtful, are you? Alcohol is a DRUG and Korea has one of the highest rates of alcoholism in the world. Every night the alleys are lined with people vomiting up the Soju they chugged down so they could feel good for a few hours because they hate their fucking salary man jobs.

People like you need to wake up and quit demonizing "drugs" and putting a mild, pleasant drug like marijuana in the same class as fucking heroin. There is a world of difference. Addicts need treatment and an ongoing support system to help them stay sober afterwards, not being thrown in prison for shit the elite do all the time without repurcussions.

Apparently, according to his cover story, YAI was able to seek help, it was available. Finally he's getting help,…
What do you mean "behind bars?" He is not in jail.

What do you mean "when CELEBRITIES crash like this...?" That happens for EVERYONE who gets hooked on drugs or booze. And Korea's anti-drug hysteria is laughable, considering half the population gets shit-faced on Soju most nights, then stagger home with a few stops to vomit in the street.

That drugs are treated like a mortal sin, but killing yourself, destroying your life and family with alcohol is just considered normal Fuck that stupidity.

This is my third watch of this excellent show. one of the best BLs ever, out of any country, #5 on my 30 Best BLs list.

It's a bit iffy/cheesy here and there in the spirit of two other classics, Love Sick and Make It Right, but much like those series, CTL's huge heart and strong supporting cast make it a joy to watch.
Fandy Fan is soooooo Fine. He's a fine actor too, as is his opposite, the team mgr.
I applaud both actors' commitment to their characters and the plot line, especially in delivering some of the hottest/most sincere BL makeout scenes ever. No dead fish or mannequins anywhere in sight; no boy-band idols slumming it and refusing to deliver believable, impassioned physicality where it's needed.

So many cuties here:
The (step) brothers, especially the older one. (When's someone going to step up and do a BL about a pair of real, blood brothers?)
The team captain
The tall twins on the other team (the subtle, hilarious bit of implied homoeroticism between them was a nice touch.)

Still 9.5/10

2:41 into the first episode.
That's how long it took to recognize this as yet another, vomit-inducing piece of rancid fluff out of Thailand, the rancid fluff BL-making capital of the world.

Wow. What a couple of fine, talented, very natural young actors.
Great casting. These two had more chemistry and charisma than all the Thai actors in all the Thai BLs put out in the last two years combined. Not that that's saying much, I suppose...
Once again, we see what can be accomplished with almost no budget when the acting/direction and heart are where they should be.
I was going to give this a 9.5 or possibly 10 until that cop-out ending trashed things.

8.5/10

Can I ask where's the bait?
"So there is no bait and u wanted to just throw a fit. Good to know"

So...you are defensive to a person you never talk and who never disrespect you. Ask YOURSELF why you did that.

How about you use some of that energy you're wasting psychoanalyzing me on developing some self-awareness of your own, huh?
Replying to WarNaniKook May 20, 2024
Can I ask where's the bait?
"What is not ok is being a jerk."
Says who? I think it's fine.

"Unknown" is #2 on my top 30 BLs list, ITSAY is #3 and IPYTM is #4.

Tell me again why you stepped in and started this argument? You don't like this show yourself.
Replying to WarNaniKook May 20, 2024
Can I ask where's the bait?
"Why are u this embittered? who hurt u?"
My priest. He did me twice a week growing up.

So you're saying this is in the bottom ten of 80 BLs you have watched, yet you found it necessary to leave a comment asking "where's the bait...?" Seems to me YOU are the one looking for an argument over something you don't even care about. Interesting.
Replying to WarNaniKook May 20, 2024
Can I ask where's the bait?
"cute fluff" and "all that matters is their cute love"

Let me guess: you enjoy BLs in which young men are sexless Teddy Bears without penises, who float amid cotton candy clouds as they wave to the unicorns below and giggle in high-pitched ecstasy. Every now and then they stop to pee pink lemonade and poop chocolate chips, right?

All the meat, bones, sweat, and sinew that make young men what they are is missing here, lest K-Poppers actually think one of their idols really IS gay...no kissing or sex allowed, get it?

Can I ask where's the bait?
This thing is nothing BUT bait and if you can't see that for yourself, I won't be wasting my time trying to help you see what you you clearly don't want to.

I guess you just wanted to start an argument so that you could throw a fit. Good to know.
On A Home from Home May 20, 2024
This is good, but somehow I feel it isn't as good as it could have been and I don't even know exactly what I mean by that. :P

Anyway, the acting is fine across the board, especially from Hyun Woo Seok, the ML. I look forward to seeing more of him around.
