I was bored quite a bit, almost dropped it halfway but kept going with hope in my heart...I was not rewarded.
The Japanese and Korean cultural tradition of persecuting family members of a criminal as though they committed the crimes themselves, is absurd. I would think they'd have moved past such an illogical, primitive way of thinking.
I have seen at least three movies featuring that "Manzai" style of Japanese stand-up comedy. I know it has to be cultural thing (I'm American) but I have never found even one line or interaction the slightest bit funny. Interesting.

Not great. Not terrible. But no recommendation from me.

I wish they'd go ahead and say "enough of this Korean/psycho/fan culture. Yoo has not been convicted of anything, we stand behind him 100% and we're releasing this immediately." This would be a major statement that drug addiction, if that's what we're dealing with here, is an illness and requires treatment, not punishment. Maybe NF could help move Korea's insane drug obsession into at least the 20th century.

I know the "exit scene" you reference, but I felt it was rushed. His being "sent packing" is a big reason this show, which I liked a lot at first, has become such a snooze fest.

As for the rest, lol, I'm older than dirt, divorced, and have seen it all. I AM gorgeous though, as are all the people I've dated or boffed.

I simply find Soga and Sakae, the actors and the characters, entirely unconvincing as a romantic couple. As many others in this thread have said, chemistry is a real thing between people and actors, and these two don't have it. All that cooing and oohing, especially the revolting pre-sex scenes, feel so forced I could feel my ancient dental fillings warping in my teeth. When they kissed, eeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

It's not for nothing that most commenters here were rooting for Mizuki, even though we were clearly meant to dislike him. Also, it's odd the way he just disappeared from the story.

There has been no indication whatsoever that he has the capacity to love a man, and we're halfway through the show. That would be a...stretch. :)

There are exactly TWO one-sided crushes, not "many." If there were "many," that would maybe help.

People ask where the BL/GL is because there is NO BL/GL at all, nor will there be. The MLs are J-idols and thus there will be no gay romance. One of the FLs is straight-crushing-on-gay and the other one is a ghost or psycho, thus there will be no Lesbo romance either.

You're last paragraph is delusional. It is not a black/white, either/or question, and NO ONE is asking for passionate kisses "every 5 minutes." The problem is we have two J-idols as the MLs, thus we all know that "BL" angle is going nowhere, thus we know nothing is going to happen, plus there IS nothing happening on the screen.

It's great that you are so advanced in your film appreciation skills that a four-hour epic movie showing paint dry in real time would be the bomb for you, but even slightly less advanced film buffs would like SOMETHING to be going on.

And don't give me the "you don't understand Japan" bs. I have watched hundreds of J films and series, and many of them are excellent. This one isn't.

SLOW X WEIRD X BORING = LAME

I can appreciate the slow unfolding of an intriguing story if it's building toward something, but this is grinding its gears and going nowhere.

A ghost cannot disappear into thin air while acting sinister, and also sit out in the sunshine, eating lunch with friends and acting like a sorority girl. I don't think she's a ghost at all; the writers/director are just throwing weirdness in so it will seem like something, anything is happening. I was hoping Ryo HAD jumped off the roof, just so there would be an interesting event taking place.

And what's up with the unlocked roof door again, and no fencing up there? How many Japanese and Korean kids have to jump off their high school roofs for this particular school to get the message?

Why is that dumb girl, who saw Ryo mooning over Hikaro as he slept, deluding herself she has a chance? Why do Japanese high school kids make the "hmmm..." sound so often? It's subbed as "yeah," "yes," "OK," whatever, but it's really just "hmmm..."

The base problem, of course, is that the MLs are Jpop idols in the same boy band, and there's not a chance in hell their characters' fictional relationship is going to go gay and they'll be exploring each others' esophagus with their tongues. Which is, of course, why there is no dramatic tension here at all. We know the guys won't go gay cause they're idols, thus their characters won't go all-out gay either.

I have two hate-watches going right now, which is rare for me. I usually drop shows this annoying. So I guess the angst of disliking what I'm seeing somehow works for me. :)

I could even see Kaname/Sakae before Soga/Sakae. Kaname is a hoot, and a unique characterization.

To me, it's a casting problem. Chemistry cannot be "written" to exist between actors. It is either there or it isn't, and in this show it very much isn't, but the director went psycho and cast the Soga guy anyway. That, or he's his nephew or sleeping with him or something, am I right? :D

Because it's awful.
