Strange...but I've developed a strong aversion to the screen presence and acting of Ichihara Hayato. I don't remember which film it was, but I was impressed with him in whatever role I first saw him in, to the point I sought out and put other of his shows on my PTW list. However, beginning with the drama "Karamazov no Kyodai," I have found him more off-putting with each watch. I dropped "KNK," and two others, and I'm about to drop this film too.

I can't put my finger on it...he's not a bad actor, but I do know that the more intense he's trying to be, the more annoying I find him. His intensity seems false and one-note. Oh well, at least I know now not to waste time starting another one of his starring features or dramas.

Even the presence of his co-star, Kora Kengo, whose acting, charisma, and beauty are as appealing to me as Havato's are dull, can't save this one.

Dropped.

I'll argue with you if I choose. Only someone who knows they don't have a leg to stand on would tell another commenter "don't argue with me!" Good lord.

I have a lot of theatre background. I've learned how to sword fight, use a wheelchair as if I'd been in it for years, execute complicated choreography, etc. and much more, each time in just six to eight weeks. But yeah, if I had to learn to walk in heels, I guess there's no way I or any other man could do that convincingly, right?

You're ridiculous

No idea what you think being a part of LGBTQ+ has to do with this, but given your argument and tone, I don't want to know. You sound ignorant and bigoted, against gay and straight alike. "Only drag queens wear heels! No straight man can learn how to do it!" lol

Thanks for the entertainment provided by your absurd comment and reply.

Episodes 3 & 4:
What is there to say, really? I rank this show among my top three good series with terrible, homophobic, ridiculous, nonsensical, and cruel endings. Because gays can't be happy, you know.
The other two are "Love of Siam" and "History3: Make Our Days Count."

Grey Rainbow is the worst of these three, however, regarding their endings. WTF with the finger snap and making the entire cast pretend to freeze while Porsche gives this weird speech as though all of a sudden he's a mystical seer who knew all along what was going to happen? WTF with Porsche's bizarre Thinking Girl or whoever that was supposed to be. He said goodbye and that he didn't need her anymore but over four hours of this show we had never seen her once. And then, the MOST ridiculous aspect: You know who comes to visit Porsche on a regular basis, and fortunately, it's just as though he's you know what so the whole tragedy was like, no big deal, you know.

Just wildly bizarre and out of left field. This remains in my top 30 best BLs list, but for me the end is immediately following the first group photo at the wedding. Done, that's it. No more. With that as the ending, this is easily one of my top 15.

Actually, I had this rated a 9.5/10 and it's at #8 on my top 30 BLs list, but after this fourth watch it's going to have to drop a few places and lose some rating points. There's some really bad writing throughout the series that bugs me more each time I watch it. What I love about Grey Rainbow is the fine acting of the two leads, the charisma and screen presence both possess, their chemistry as lovers, and its overall positive message about the legitimacy of gay relationships.

But the ending alone is going to cost Grey Rainbow four or five slots on my best BL list.

8.5/10 and it moves to #12 on my list.

The fact that a woman was cast to play a male lead in this film will likely prevent me from ever watching it. There is no way anyone watching this is going to believe her character as a man for one freaking second. What a bizarre choice by the director, and an insult to gay people.

Have you not ever heard of people referred to as DRAG QUEENS? Good god, they are men in heels and every other type of female attire and makeup and they work those stilettos better than most women.

On The Men Who My Father Loved Oct 9, 2023
I like this film. The acting is terrific, the plot makes sense, and all the sex is fun to watch. I like that all the gay male characters, including the lead, are just average, fairly good-looking people, and in the cases of a couple of the older ones, not so good-looking. lol The deceased father definitely had a thing for older men, but that was not explored. I guess there wasn't time.

I don't see why there is a need to call this a "pink film." It's a short film like any other with more sex than most, but it's all clearly acted, not the real thing.

The sex scenes in this film are not EXPLICIT, as other commenters and reviewers claim. "Explicit" is what you see in porn, with genitalia on display, and everything from up-close penetration to cum shots are in the mix. The sex scenes here are...extremely suggestive. You will have no doubt what is being done by whom to whom, and you will see some bare butt and lots of bad sex faces, but this is not pornography. No genitals, no real cum shots (there's a fake one that is pretty convincing but made me laugh), no penetration. All we see is the actors acting.

Now, I wish the lead would have learned how to show the experience of pleasure on his face when his character was supposedly experiencing it. To me, he always looked like he was in extreme pain, even when just having his nipples licked.

OK, a definite recommend from me.

Episode 2 (Spoilers):

Wow, now we're getting to why and how this series had a tremendous impact on me the first time I saw it...and why it's been in my top 30 fave BL list since then.

A little less than halfway through this episode, I felt myself caving to the power of the story being told, the rare chemistry between the leads, their fine acting and commitment to their roles, etc. All of that began to gel and take me over, and I was happy to go with it...

Oh lord, what a bullet Nueng dodged with Jane, eh? I loathe her type: Male or female, they weigh relationships by how much time, attention, flattery, money, favors, and general worship are IN-coming. Forget anything flowing OUT-ward, all Jane cares about is what she's being given. I don't feel sorry for people like her because they aren't capable of freely giving love and experiencing the joy that comes from that and thus, have no concept of what they're missing. It's also important to note she made sure to already be in a new relationship before ending the old one. People like her can't bear even one day without someone, anyone, giving them the affirmation they so desperately need.

Of course, it was extra-horrible of her to set up that four-way excursion to her step-dad's resort just so she could dump Nueng there with Watt nearby to suffer the consequences. What could someone like her love more than watching two dudes fight over her? Watt was pretty quick with that bottle to the head of Nueng; he and Jane probably talked about and set the whole thing up ahead of time. Come to think of it, OF COURSE they did! Yuck, what gross people. But what great drama, huh?

The Nueng-Porsche boxing match was pretty lame and needed a LOT more rehearsal, lol, but the gist of it was great, so I'm willing to forgive.

A moment here to appreciate the physical beauty of both leads, both in face and body. They are so well-matched; great casting. Episode 1 began with ten minutes of the camera shamelessly drooling over Nut Nutchapon's stunning physique; I have no idea why it took the director almost two whole episodes to get him shirtless again. However, how nice to discover, unsurprisingly, that Karn Kasidej is just as well-built, if a tad smaller overall. Frankly, I think Nut is one of the most handsome Thai actors alive.

On to episode 3!

Grey Rainbow is one of my all-time fave BLs, but this is my first rewatch in over a year. Noticing weaknesses I didn't notice the first two or three times, or had forgotten about. There is a significant level of sloppy writing. Example: Porsche calls Nueng to come get him after the violent incident, but doesn't tell him where he is and Nueng doesn't ask. Yet somehow, Nueng knows just where to go. lol

Still, there's no denying the chemistry between the leads, their physical beauty, and the general loveliness of the overall storyline, despite its flaws.

Episode 1 (spoilers):
Jane is too transparently a bitch from the very beginning; there's nothing about her that makes it believable Nueng, who's a nice guy, would find her personality attractive.

Porsche's "friend" Ice comes off as needling and mocking, rather than supportive in a dryly humorous manner, which is what I think was intended. Who wants a friend who is constantly poking at our emotional soft spots? I get the character's function in the script, but she's written as more of a rude jerk than a ready ear who sees through Porsche's BS and tells him what he needs to hear.

Don't get why the trans or cross-dressing singer at the bar turned into such a bitch while Porsche was interviewing her. His questions were completely in line with the topic, and not asked in a disrespectful manner. First, all of a sudden, she's all "I refuse to answer," as if he demanded she do so, and then she accuses him of seeking to harm gay folks with his paper, and storms off. I think someone is far less secure in their sexuality than they pretend to be. She's also deluded: It's a very rare "straight" guy who will date transgender women or cross-dressers. She wants the fantasy of believing he's straight, so pretends he is.

Wow, this is the first Thai show I've watched in quite a while and the language is striking my ear as annoyingly nasal, for some reason. The two leads don't sound that way, but most of the others do, at least to me right now. Maybe my ear hasn't adjusted yet. I love the way Thais say "hello" though, always have. :D

Not Nut's character dying twice. I'm sorry but I laughed because the last scene was so random. The whole show…
I totally agree. This is one of my all-time fave BLs, but that ridiculous, out of left field incident at the wedding and what comes after is almost as homophobic and hateful an ending as that of "Love of Siam." What keeps Grey Rainbow in my top 30 fave BLs list is that I decided the show actually ends with the first group photograph after the wedding ceremony. Boom, done, out, that's it, it's over. That way, I can keep loving the rest of the series, pretend the stupidity never happened, and keep it on my faves list. :D

Because they still make a lot of money. If the actors are hot, it's enough to attract fans.
I guess I'll google this, and perhaps I'm wrong,, but my understanding has been that successful BLs make money off their International fans too.

As far as looks go, I don't pretend to speak for all International fans in saying that several of these guys aren't great-looking, so how can you say they are "attractive to Thai people?" I don't mean this in an antagonistic way, but do you really believe all Thai people think the same way and that all of them find this entire cast to be "hot?"

I find your comment to be a tad racist as if assuming all non-Thais judge Thai men by a higher standard for looks. That assumption is, of course, absurd. Asian men in general are the most beautiful in the world to me, and I'm about as white as you can be. :)

I'm glad you are enjoying this series, but I had to force myself to finish the first episode. Felt like being hit on the head over and over with juvenile writing and lame acting.

It's funny AND sad that my top two favorite BLs of all time are Thai ("I Told Sunset About You" and "I Promised You the Moon"). After that, there are maybe four other Thai shows in my top 30 but none of them are from the last two years. "Moonlight Chicken" was the last Thai show I found watchable.

The current state of Thai BLs is also sad to me because all the first BLs I discovered after coming across the BL Universe were Thai, and through them, I was led to everything else. "Love Sick 1 & 2," "Make It Right 1 & 2," "Together With Me 1 & 2," "TharnType," and "Grey Rainbow" left me laughing and crying. It was fun too because all those shows and their second seasons had already been made when I found them, so I got to binge everything.

Now when I see a show was made in Thailand, I cringe. But I always check it out because who knows when another "Moonlight Chicken" will slip through the cracks, right?

Pathetic.

I'll never get why people watch hot guys act badly in badly-written Thai shows. Why not just stare at pictures of them online, rather than watch them embarrass themselves and make the viewer cringe with terrible crap like this?

And I guarantee you lots of viewers here think the acting is just great, fabulous, awesome, incredible, etc. Besides, a couple of these dudes aren't that great looking.

The suits at GMMTV are laughing all the way to the bank with the $$$ they make off standard-free BL viewers, which is why we get pretty much nothing but junk out of Thailand. The whole thing is gross.

I was desperate for a BL to watch since there's so little out there right now that doesn't suck, so I tried this one again, but no, it still sucks too.

I like Neo a lot; he has an appealing presence, and charisma, and he'd be a good actor in the hands of a good director, which isn't the case here.

Why is the acting almost always so amateurish in GMMTV productions?

Two beautiful men. Hot chemistry in the intimate scenes. Actors who are fearless about male-on-male kissing. Given…
Hmmm...surprisingly, I'm OK with it the way it is. I find both characters likable and wry. There are moments of wry, dry humor and I like that too. I'm surprised you say "there are a lot of sex scenes." I don't see that at all. Have they really gone at it since maybe episode 3 or 4? And by then the potentially humorous and sexy "sex only on cloudy days" angle was already being phased out. Hell, they're having a typhoon now; they ought to be going at it like rabbits.

But then, with the introduction of some BDSM action at the end of ep 7, maybe they will be.
I guess I could sum this up by saying I agree it could have been a lot better than it is, given a cute, sexy original story idea and two hot, intriguing leads, but it's not at all bad and I'm glad I've watched this one.

It's likely the eternal scenario: They've taken a Manga that was probably full of BDSM, obsessive, dom/sub type sex and relationship issues and taken all the hot stuff out of it. Perhaps that's why you find it "flat." I find it mildly undulant.

Unfortunately, all the Thai BLs that are out suck, so it's just this and "You Are Mine" right now. Someone save me.

So many Strongberry shorts help me understand my own adolescent/young adulthood/closeted gay angst, though my experience was decades before these films were made and I went through it halfway around the world from Korea.

CHOOSING to consciously accept incompleteness as a state of being can be a real thing. And that choice itself can change at any time, and thus is itself incomplete...

Bravo.

Matsuzaka Tori is one of my fave actors, but I'm dumping this thing at 25 minutes. I've had my fill lately of bitchy, psycho, hyper-neurotic women in Japanese films at whose feet men are constantly falling despite overwhelming evidence they are horrible people.

A watch retailer makes a house call to deliver an expensive watch, free of charge as a replacement for one damaged during repair. The woman customer is clearly off her rocker, throws a tantrum and dissolves into sobs. So naturally, the hot watch man kisses her passionately. Spare me. I'm out.

I'm actually going to watch this movie right now because of the rating, I wonder why it's so low
Because MDL is full of stupid people who live for fluffy gay series like "Bad Buddy," that's why the rating is so low. I gave this a 9.5/10.

Obliterating.

Jang Yoo Sang is heartbreaking perfection in this role. He is one of my favorite actors and he is tragically under-utilized in Korean cinema. He moves me to the core in every role I've seen him play.

Just finished what must have been my fifth watch of "Brake." More revelations I missed before. This is one I will watch again and again.
