I know far more about why the world loves/hates the US than you could ever hope to learn. I love/hate the US myself.
Incidentally, you're welcome for the US bailing your country and the rest of Europe out not once, not twice, but three times, in two world wars and through the Cold War (do you know what the Cold War was?). The US has been, since WW2, the most powerful, influential, wealthy, and generous country in the world. The US also has been, since WW2, belligerent, arrogant, and evil on many occasions, the BS Iraq War being the latest, most appalling example (do you know what the Iraq War was?).
See how that works? Most things in the universe are shades of gray, not black/white.
None of which has anything to do with your flippant use of the word "queer," of course, which is why you're desperately using the above-referenced issues to deflect. Grow up. Don't be an asshole.
You're an idiot. "Queer" became a slur in your country, and it remains so to at least two generations, most of whom are still living, and of which I'm a part. But throwing "queer" in their/my face makes you feel edgy so you do it anyway. Good for you. You ARE the asshole.
btw, your snide comments about the US cut no ice with me. Your fellow asshole Trump has nothing to do with this discussion, of course. Your throwing it in as a random insult (inspired by your general envy of the US; we get a lot of that) just reveals more about who you are.
It's weird how some people don't gaf about how "queer" hits for an entire generation (and many before that), most of whom are still living, and of which I'm a part.
Please start including a "trigger warning" at the beginning of sentences in which you're going to use "queer" and other painful terms that millions find painful to read. You're going to do that for me, aren't you? Yes, I'm sure you will...not.
Wow. Thank you for this. :) You said everything a lot more clearly and directly than I have. I was trying to curb my usual tendency toward rhetorical aggression. I like your approach better. You expressed precisely how I feel. That word was leveled at me a few times, and it cut deep. Every time I read or see it, it cuts again.
I suppose I should demand people use a "trigger warning" at the beginning of sentences in which they are going to include it...? I'm sure folks like our friend above would understand and immediately start doing that for me, right? lol
Because there are a lot of daisies on this website.
Trigger warnings (spoilers), which on MDL are disguised as "tags," should be behind a Trigger Warning/Tag button, on which the daisies can click. That will happen when hell freezes over, of course.
Because there are a lot of daisies on this website.
Or there is way more than enough information about every show in existence floating around on the Internet for that decision to be made, but the daisies are too lazy to do that bit of work and instead demand that they be provided specific, performative "trigger warnings (spoilers)," which satisfy two desires: That of the warn-ee to have their victimhood confirmed and that of the warn-er to proclaim their noblesse in a public setting.
It's a win-win for both the flowers and those who deign to protect them from life.
More gay-bait silliness out of homophobic China. It's cute at first, but quickly becomes annoying, as it's clear the boy-on-boy stuff is going nowhere and the goofiness wears thin. Don't support China's gay-hating government by watching.
This one's a miss for me. Dancing around/cutting away from what should have been naturally progressing sex scenes is a turn-off for me. That would not be the case in a straight-themed drama. I'm not asking for explicit sex, just a convincing, honest portrayal of what went down on that first night between the two.
If Sukfilm is withholding what I reference above to elicit a subscription, that won't happen. If I paid for every YT channel with content I want to see, I'd be broke. Plus, I have seen a couple other shows' "uncut" versions, and all I got was a tiny bit more making out and some torso skin. Show me some hardcore porn and I might fork over the $$$. :)
The vocals OVER scenes of dialogue is distracting and annoying. If you have to use music to tell me how to feel, especially with vocals, your failing.
Also, please consider easing up on the white face powder and lipstick. The actors look like creepy, man-sized China dolls.
Who are you responding to? I scrolled comments to the bottom of the first page and saw no rants against this as…
I see where you're coming from, but depicting rape doesn't "encourage" rape any more than depicting murder encourages murder. If the latter were true, given the violence/crime prominent in many hit Korean films, half the population of the country would be dead.
My biggest beef is with people who call out "sexual assault" where there is none, as in this show, because it's on-trend to do so. Taken to that degree, it's especially insulting to women, or to gay men for that matter, who are treated as helpless children who have no agency of their own, and are desperately in need of oversight and protection at all times, from a man or sex-phobic prudes in the audience.
If Odojima didn't want Kataoka riding him in the car, he could easily have said so. Instead, he CHOSE to pretend to be asleep, which was an odd choice, but whatever. I mean, how do you sleep through that, whether on top or bottom? :)
Love the straight-to-gay story lines. My favorite trope! :D
Overall, really well done. Great acting and chemistry across the board. Good casting. Also loving the satirical, tongue-in-cheek tropes/BL cliches. When they are done like this, with quality and a knowing wink, they work for me.
Maybe work on making the living spaces look more lived-in, and the clothes less perfect, brand-new, and unworn before, especially with characters like the young guy who just came to town. When everyone's in brightly-colored, fresh-from-the-store clothing, the walls are bare, and not a hair out of place, it's kind of visually boring and limits credibility.
That said, again, I loved this show. I laughed out loud several times. The writers should be commended. The dialogue was not only natural but also delivered realistically, with characters overlapping lines and speaking like actual humans do. That's a rare thing in BL World, where characters often pause for five seconds of silence between lines. :)
More, please!
Cutting slack for budget limitations, plus an extra, full point to offset MDLers who don't recognize quality when they see it and down-rate good stuff like this.
Maaaah, damn it, the ending was way too abrupt 😭 I was totally hooked and wanted to see at least one heartfelt…
I posted a comment to the same effect about the final smooch. All the earlier ones were natural and believable, but the final one was cut short, when it should have been the most romantic. It would have been cool to see the younger guy sort of tentatively ease into a deep kiss, since it was his first with a dude.
You got me.

"You don't need to lecture any gay man in your life, because we do know what is right and what is wrong."
hmmm...I'm a "gay man," yet somehow you don't speak for me or millions of others...how can that possibly be?
Your latest comment explains everything. Please google "arrogant douche bag." Your photograph is in the definition.

If you don't see it, that's fine. I'm not going to try to convince you.
