lolYou would think this is a "masterpiece." Did she write the shooting scenes where Odajima and everyone…
I checked out the screenwriter. I've only seen a scattering of her work, but am a big fan of the underrated/rarely mentioned "No Touching At All," which is #15 on my 30 fave gay flicks list, where it sits among big-budget feature films. It has a gritty/neurotic/horny vibe I love. The chain-smoking, booze-swilling boss is a favorite character. I also liked the "Seven Days" series and "Does the Flower Bloom."

What an unexpectedly pleasant response. Appreciated.
My own hierarchy: Taiwan Japan Korea

I loved many of the old classic Thai BLs (Lovesick, Make It Right, Together With Me, Dark Blue Kiss, Love By Chance, Tharntype, Until We Meet Again, Theory of Love, etc.), which were the first of the genre I saw, but almost everything since 2020 has been crap. KinnPorsche had its moments, but deteriorated over its runtime. ITSAY/IPYTM are so on another level that I have a separate category in my head for them.
Your "honest and sincere expression of sympathy" came amid rhetorical bombs from your buddy Eliot_Tools and this from you, directed at another commenter: "Oh, you're one of *those*. The "LGB Alliance" hate group. The ones who hate everyone who doesn't conform to your narrow standards of non-heterosexuality and gender. I get it now."
But yeah, why would I think you were being snide or "rude," right?
Every assumption I've made about you and Eliot the Dumbasslander, is based on your own words. Get over your delicate self.
lol Did I use too many "fancy words" for you? "Obfuscate" is a pretty big word by MDL standards. Why would you use such a thing? What is YOUR "true intention?"
"It says that you're a troll." You repeated this phrase three times. It seems you have "devolved into parroting" yourself. Why would you do such a thing? (Oh god, I parroted again.)
I did not say "everyone" who is not from the US is from Dumbassland. I said that YOU and Eliot_Tools are from Dumbassland. Living in Dumbassland has nothing to do with not living in America, it has to do with being, you know, a dumbass. Hell, half the people in America are dumbasses. I knows from painful, everyday experience.
So, where DO you live, and why are you reluctant to share its name?
BTW, the etymology (oh god, another fancy word!) of a word doesn't change, regardless of where one lives, though I'm sure you'll claim otherwise.
woa idk but i think this is one of the best adaptation out there. with a few changes (obv to make it less smut),…
I wish they'd keep the smut. Removing It often compromises the feel of the manga. There are a zillion production techniques to imply smut without showing explicit content.
Ok hear me out, Odajima with black hair is so 🫦🫦🫦And that tattoo really suits him, he looks so good with…
Do you mean Kataoka? Odajimia has had black hair throughout the show. If so, I totally agree. Kataoka is sexy af, both in looks and actions, but when he showed up in flashback with black hair, I was like WOW. Most Asians look their hottest with naturally black hair. I see why they use the red rinses and other dye jobs though. EVERYONE in Asia has gorgeous, naturally black hair. I can understand the desire to distinguish one's self from the crowd.
I declare this a masterpiece, the writing is excellent. You get so much for just 6 episodes.Just checked the screenwriter…
lol You would think this is a "masterpiece." Did she write the shooting scenes where Odajima and everyone else stood around like mouth-breathing morons as people were being killed?
Speaking of "masterpieces," where do you stand on Bad Buddy?
When it comes to Japanese BL, one of its greatest strengths lies in its 'emotional impact'. Japanese BL often…
So, why did this JP BL add-in fifteen unnecessary minutes during the action scenes in this episode? lol Everyone stood around staring and pretending to move in slo-mo as bullets were flying. wtf?
I hope Boss's widow spends some of her inheritance to have those ears pinned back.
The director should be shot (MILD SPOILERS BELOW). This episode's crucial scene(s), from the funeral room to what took place on the lawn, were embarrassingly bad. I laughed when I should have been screaming. It's one thing to show something in slow motion for dramatic effect, but it's another to ask your actors to mooooooove and reaaaaaaact in fake slow motion, which comes off like a Saturday Night Live skit.
Odajima is clearly the worst bodyguard in Yakuza history. Sees assailant, waits five minutes before reacting. Sees what's happening on the lawn, waits another five minutes. After you-know-what, does he scream for someone to call 911? No, he makes small talk while the victim bleeds and babbles dramatically. Then, at the hospital, the monitor goes to flat line, Odajima takes time to shout into you-know-who's face before screaming for help (there would have been a call button in a real hospital). But here's the best part: The nurse comes in, looks at Odajima, looks at you-know-who, and says "what is happening?!" Bitch, I don't know, that's YOUR job!
Assassin: Worst shot in Yakuza history. Has five minutes to aim and shoot from five feet. His bullet goes into the floor. lol Has ten minutes to aim again on the lawn, takes an extra five so people can stop him. :D
Oh, and then we had Kiiri Keito and another dude off to the side watching all this go down on the lawn, including you know what. Do they move in any way? Of course not.
It was all so high school play and silly looking, totally took me out of the events.
All that said, Odajima's scene outside the surgical room at the end of the episode was heartbreaking. I got chills. Well-acted, well-done! I'm guessing Hiroto did that fine work on his own and the director stood by, thinking "wow, what's up with this great acting?" I will say that the closeup shot from behind/left of Odajima's face during that scene was awesome. Somehow, even though I could see only the left sliver of his face, that angle enhanced the emotion.
Finally, there are few Asian actors who do NOT look their best/most handsome with their naturally, jet-black hair. Masanari is not one of them. :D I was stunned to see how different and sexier he looked with black hair.
Je Hoon has deserted feature films the last few years to churn out one action series after another for Netflix. I completely understand the temptation to choose $$$ over carefully-selected, well-written, and challenging roles in feature films, but it saddens me that he has succumbed to temptation repeatedly without a break for more worthy projects.
Thus, my Je Hoon has been dropped from #3 to #8 on my Fave Actors list. He remains a great actor, but he has chosen to put his abilities in neutral while he builds up his bank account. That's fine and his choice to do. It is my choice to lower his status on my list.
I just saw on your profile page that among your favorite "BLs" are The Untamed, not a BL but a censored, wink-and-nod parody of how homosexuality was portrayed in Western live-action shows until well into the 1960s, out of homophobic, Communist China, and Bad Buddy (sorry, but hahaha...omg... again), one of the most juvenile, embarrassing, fluff and cotton candy portrayals of BL gay romance in existence, made all the more so by its iconic status among MDL Little Girls such as yourself ("Little Girls" is a category of MDL Western fujoshis defined by the qualities of those it includes; you don't have be Western or have a vagina to belong in it).
Enough said about your qualifications to discuss "queer" or much of anything else, here or in any forum.
There is so much dumbassery in this reply, that to save time, I will copy/paste my reply to your buddy Elliot_Toolz above:
///p
Since you insist on being extremely ignorant, in which so doing you move from the category of ignorant to willfully stupid, I will seek to educate you: "The word Queer was first (recorded) used to describe a person's sexuality or expression during the 1894 trial of Oscar Wilde. However, before this, it originated in English around the 16th century as "Weird." Before this case, there was no recorded history of the word being used to refer to anything but "strange" or "weird." 'Following the trial of Oscar Wilde, Queer people (Gay men in particular) were perceived as threats and potential predators. This led to another belief that feminine traits within men were a sign of homosexuality, too. Afterwards, the word Queer took its place as a slur against LGBTQ+ individuals or anyone perceived to not be following heteronormative roles."
From your earlier babblings I had assumed you lived in the UK. Since your profile doesn't indicate your location, I'll assume you are either embarrassed to say, or live in Dumbassland, as you sound like the other Dumbasslanders I've heard. If you do live in the UK and don't know who Oscar Wilde is or how "queer" became a slur, please do apply for Dumbassland citizenship asap. Its standards and requirements are very low, and you'll be among your own there.
Regarding your repeated diversionary insults to my country, I have this to say: I have never voted Republican in my surprisingly long life. It is the Republican party that prevents us from having decent, universal healthcare, effective gun control, and a zillion other social/legal policies a country should have, especially this one. Most of all, I have never voted for the sociopathic narcissist, and I spent a month or more in despair after he "won" last year's election. I despise Trump and all he pretends to stand for (in reality, he stands for nothing but what he thinks is best for himself on a given day).
I am not responsible for the nearly half of the US population that loves narcissistic sociopaths. THEY are the brainwashed idiots who think that by virtue of accidentally being born in the US, they are "better than everyone else and that everyone must look up to them and want to be just like them." I very much do not believe that. However, what I KNOW is that people like you, who think they know the details of what and how things go down in the US without understanding any such thing, have a deeply ingrained inferiority complex toward my country. It's why you pay so much attention to us and yet hate yourself for doing so. It's why you are lashing out at me about US politics on an Asian drama/film site in a discussion about the word "queer."
oops!, there I go, falling for your diversionary BS.
P.S. "LGB Alliance hate group people..." Yeah, you're right, you got me, that's who I am. lol
I finally held my nose and took a look at your profile. lol Your profile pic is great visual shorthand for your intellectual capacities, as evidenced in our conversation.
