Can you tell us what will happen in the 11th episode? Since it’s EXTREMELY predictable. You guys are funny
Lmao you wrote an entire character analysis and predicted the plot, but the moment someone challenges your take, suddenly it’s a crashout You can dish it but can’t take it? Maybe stick to dropping dramas instead of policing how people respond to your comments. Anyway, enjoy your newfound career as a C-drama fortune teller. 💀

Girl, this isn’t even my favourite drama, let alone a masterpiece I need to defend. I never questioned you finding it boring. It’s the confidence with which you declared it extremely predictable after 3 episodes that’s funny. Apparently, disagreeing with your crystal ball is a full-on crashout now?! lol

Can you tell us what will happen in the 11th episode? Since it’s EXTREMELY predictable. You guys are funny
You dropped the drama after 3 episodes, yet you’re already claiming everything comes too easily to the FL. Did you even give it another two episodes to understand the context behind why she knows how to navigate these situations? Not every capable FL needs to struggle endlessly or make stupid decisions just to satisfy the audience. You can find it boring, but that doesn’t automatically make the writing bad.

And your prediction? The ML will fall head over heels, she won’t notice, and he’ll struggle to confess? Congratulations, you’ve listed one of the most common C-drama tropes. I can make predictions like that too, but that doesn’t mean I’ve figured out the entire story. What if the ML never falls in love with her and divorces her? What if the Empress Dowager discovers the truth and one of the Wei Raos ends up facing execution? There are a million ways a story can unfold, and reducing an entire drama to the tropes you expect to see isn’t the gotcha you think it is.

Also, the condescending implication that those of us enjoying this drama must have low standards or watch predictable dramas because we supposedly can’t recognise bad writing is quite something. We’re capable of recognising tropes, too. We just don’t need to dismiss an entire drama after three episodes to prove it. You’re entitled to find it boring, but that doesn’t make your interpretation the definitive one or everyone else’s intelligence any lesser.

Decided to drop after episode 3. This feels extremely predictable. The FL is the perfect Mary Sue. Everything…

TXW has put so much effort into this role, and the attention to detail in her two distinct mannerisms, voice acting, and expressions is captivating. The way she scrunches her nose in disgust as Wei Rao, vs the smiling face and sharp eyes as A Chou, is so good.

Even her voice work is phenomenal! The high, nasally voice as Wei Rao perfectly captures her prim, high-status demeanour (she reminds me of Dolores from Harry Potter 😭), while her deep, calm voice as A Chou creates such a stark contrast.

My girl is CARRYING this drama.

Damn, I took a day off just to watch too 😭😭😭 and it was worth it a thousand times over.

Some of you don't deserve female centric dramas at all
Ikr. Here and on reddit, I keep seeing people say that the ML was deliberately wronged just to elevate the FL. Wth? This drama has so many nuances, and reducing their individual arcs to the ML was sacrificed for the FL , completely misses what the story is actually trying to say.

As a male viewer, I’ve gotten to the point where I’m going to be much more cautious about starting C-dramas…
Lol okay? You can just stop watching them. Why did we need a whole essay about what you personally choose to watch?

After 42 episodes and a kid, Li Jin Qi still hasn’t made it onto the list of things Xu Lanxiang actually lives…
As someone who doesn’t think a relationship should be the be-all and end-all of a woman’s life, I actually really liked her perspective on what we live for. But yeah, I think it’s more about the women of that time and the society they lived in than the romance itself.

Title Against the Current Spoiler
I am confused ... did ml get to know that fl is a shen or no??
When he specifically asks his grandfather about Shen Jialan and mentions that he has wronged her from the beginning, it shows that he already knows her true identity.

Bravo the Award for the Braindeath Bitch of the Year goes to Anna0817 the Paid Troll Bot..
It seems you’re either being paid by Song Yiren’s team or you have too much free time (jobless) to be defending her in every comment

Ahh, LJQ’s eyes are conveying so much more than words ever could. 🥰 If he had been there when Lanxiang confronted Du Sister and saw how fierce and intelligent she is, he would’ve confessed to Lanxiang right then and there.
