i found myself really enjoying the scenes from the movie, far more than the shallow plot with the actors in "real life". fang chi and gao zhun's story is so much more compelling and complex, with great ambience and music. their unhealthy obsession and dependence on one another was well developed and captivating. i dreaded when they would cut the scene.
whereas zhen xin and zhang zhun really just seemed to be horny for each other and that was about it. i kept waiting for it to get deeper or more serious but it really didn't. and even then, they didn't have a good nc scene outside of the movie.
both the movie and the "real life" romances are unhealthy, non-consensual, and ultimately built on fleeting sexual desire. if it ended with both relationships eventually falling apart, it would be quite poignant. but they double down and say that it was actually love all along? may that superficial love never find me.
i hope we all noticed that this show extremely romanticizes SA, and is very misogynistic. all the "real life" characters are woefully underdeveloped. i bet a lot of the plot is better explained in the novel. people should probably read that first so that the show will make sense. this could have been done so much better, but at least the movie scenes were enjoyable to watch unfold. + great acting and handsome leads.
in ep. 4 , akira says he discusses sexual topics with adults sometimes. kanata is about to ask a question but decides he doesn't want the answer. akira smiles and says no comment. kanata pretends to be disgusted. what was your guys' interpretation of this?
was he going to ask akira if he was a virgin? or was he going to specifically ask if akira has sex with adults? or something else?
