On Eternal Brotherhood Season 2 Jun 7, 2025
So it seems clear that Zichuan Xiu and Zichuan Ning love each other. However, I am a bit confused about Liu Feng Shuang since the way the tv series are going, there is a feeling that Zichuan Xiu and Liu Feng Shuang can also be a good couple if screenwriters allow. So do you know how these three people would end up in this story? Thanks.

The two kings are terrible and yet nothing happened to them. I guess the screenwriters are under self- censorship here. It is a disappointing ending to a fine series.

I adore Li Qin and respect Joseph Zeng, therefore I looked forward to this series. However, unfortunately, so far, the story is fairly boring. I am afraid the series will be a flop. I hope the two idols will find better projects.

On Snowfall Aug 7, 2024
Title Snowfall
In the C-drama "Snowfall" (2024), we see a conclusion that is either sad or open-ended, depending on interpretation, but it is certainly not a conventionally happy ending. This brings up an interesting point about the differences between C-dramas and K-dramas. If "Snowfall" were a Korean production, the heroes would be less likely to die, as K-dramas tend to favor more definitive, uplifting conclusions for their protagonists. On the other hand, Chinese dramas frequently have one of the main characters die or leave their fate ambiguous, which can evoke a sense of sadness or melancholy.

Is this preference for tragic or ambiguous endings reflective of Chinese audience tastes? It seems so, as these types of conclusions are quite common in C-dramas. However, I argue that such endings might not resonate well with the majority of international viewers, who often prefer more satisfying and conclusive narratives. This trend could potentially hinder the global popularity of C-dramas, as foreign audiences might find these endings less appealing and emotionally unsatisfying.

I love and support Yang Mi and Gong Yun. But I think this Xianxia genre, despite its numerous successes in recent years, risks losing its appeal due to overused tropes and clichés. It is hard to imagine the trilogy of this work can succeed.

Arguably, the overused tropes and clichés may not matter so much if the CGI effects in Xianxia dramas improve significantly. High-quality CGI, which is often achieved with American TV budgets, can enhance the visual storytelling and make mythical elements more convincing. Unfortunately, current Chinese series generally do not achieve this level of quality. Furthermore, the action scenes in many Chinese Xianxia dramas are often weak and lack the intensity and choreography seen in other genres.

In other words, while common clichés may still survive if the production styles improve, it is arguably challenging to achieve this in the current landscape of Chinese series.

And if I am not mistaken, Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red-Moon Pact currently is not 'hot' enough in China. It is hard to imagine it will pick up.

Is it true that the character Wang Jia Luo became a bad person in the end? I thought he was among the 'heroes', but apparently in the end, No. Can you confirm or explain the evolution of this character?

Title What If
If you have watched the ending (episode 20), could you pls add a spoiler to explain what eventually happens in two timelines? And is it accurate to say one time line is the 'real' one, and another timeline is a 'dream'? My sincere thanks,

I did not follow the series closely so I'm concerned I will miss something. But essentially I found it hard to root for the FL, Xia Guo, because it seems she is in love and/or flirts with two men in the two parallel stories. It is distracting. Can you advise how we as the audience should address this question of the FL apparently flirting with two men in the same series?

On Will Love in Spring May 2, 2024
For me, Will love in Spring stands out in its portrayal of modern life. The chemistry between the lead actors is electric, the cinematography is stunning, the soundtrack is impressive, and the script is well-crafted.

That said, it's got me thinking—what if this drama had been written by Korean writers? Typically, Korean dramas weave in layers of conflict or mystery, which this show lacks. It's quite light and free of any major antagonist or external struggles. While this makes for a peaceful watch, I wonder if adding a bit of conflict or mystery would broaden its appeal and make it more engaging.

Do you think the serene and gentle narrative limits the drama's broader appeal? Would love to hear your thoughts!

On Will Love in Spring Apr 30, 2024
Watching Will Love in Spring , I was impressed not only by the stunning scenery but also by the portrayal of a fairly good quality of life, marked by excellent infrastructure that seems to surpass that of many weary European nations. The characters appear to live comfortably within their means. It makes me wonder, does this reflect the reality in China today? Can people generally enjoy a similar standard of living and infrastructure as depicted in the series?

Do you think that so far, even at episode 16 or perhaps 18 - based on the trailer - Yao Zhi Ming is still a calculated person. Of course he cares for Mai Cheng Huan, but the plot so far shows he even cares for wealth and inheritance more. If that is the case, I'm not yet convinced how the story will make us believe in their eventual love.

Title Hard to Find
Hi everyone, just a heads up that the final episode of this fantastic drama is now available for viewing. Without giving anything away, I believe the filmmakers took a risky and flawed path with the conclusion that may not align with what many of us hoped for. In my opinion, a more uplifting ending might have transformed this series into a beloved drama, rewatched long after its initial airing. As it stands, the chosen direction for the finale could deter some fans from revisiting or even finishing the series, which is a shame considering its overall quality. What do you all think? Did the ending impact your view of the series as a whole?"

I've noticed that many actors and actresses in short TV dramas have the looks and acting skills on par with leads in bigger, full-length dramas. Yet, it seems they cannot secure leading roles in those longer dramas. Can anyone explain the dynamics behind this?

On Fighting for Love Feb 13, 2024
So I have finished the latest episode 26. Very exciting. I know there are already different details between the novel and the film. But if you have read the novel, could you pls offer your prediction about the next plot direction? Would Shang Yi Zhi seize the throne successfully? I know A Mai's love life in the novel, but since there are already differences in the film, do you think A Mai would have a happy love in this film version?

On Fighting for Love Feb 3, 2024
So today our FL kissed Shang Yi Zhi and began the romance with him. But for readers of the novel, we know that in the novel, it is different as the FL did not love Shang Yi Zhi in the novel. So it seems the film version, at this early stage, already changed the plot. Perhaps they want to simplify the story and gives our FL a true love. Let's see.

On My Happy Ending Jan 14, 2024
I don't know if the main character Seo Jae Won will change in the next episode. But we are at episode 6, and the lady is so annoying, silly, ignorant and passive. There are many negative adjectives to be associated with her activities so far. If the screenwriters wanted us to sympathize and root for Seo Jae Won, they have failed miserably. So far, this tv drama is very bad in terms of quality.

On Live Your Own Life Dec 25, 2023
I have closely read the Nielsen ratings in South Korea. Accordingly, Live your own life is the most watched tv drama on Saturday and Sunday, surpassing other series including The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract, My demon and Welcome to Samdalri. So I tried to watch the first episode of Live your own life but found it very boring. I was surprised about the great success of this TV drama. Can you explain the reasons for its current success in South Korea?

Title My Demon
I enjoy watching My Demon. No complaint. I just want to ask for your opinion about one detail. Why didn't Madam Ju tell Do Do Hee the truth about her parents in her last letter to Do Do Hee. Instead, the last letter only explained why Madam Ju wanted to give the wealth to Do Do Hee. We may argue that in Madam Ju's last letter, surely she would have thought that she should tell Do Do Hee about her parents? Do you think it is the screenwriter's decision rather than a logical development in life?
