I have taken a look at the novel. Although I have not read it fully, my understanding is that in the original novel, Zhong Xi Wu is the king, while Hua Qian's Father is the prime minister. So, is it correct to say that the film has changed the details?
The show could have given us a smart, strong character, but instead, it gives us a lady character who gets into silly situations and doesn't know a lot, which is frustrating to watch.
He Jiu Ling, the main character of the show, acts silly and causes problems, which doesn’t help the story and also makes problems for other characters, especially her family. Even though her silly actions are supposed to make the show funny and light, they actually make it annoying.
The main character, Lin Bao Er, is played by an amazing actress. She does a really good job becoming her character and showing us a woman who wants revenge but is also strong and determined.
Even though Miss Mystery has a story about revenge, betrayal, and secrets - which we see a lot in other shows - it still makes me really excited and interested. The episodes, even if they go in expected directions, are done in a way that makes viewers always want to know what will happen next.
Ni Ni's charisma is excellent. I think her presence alone in a movie could elevate that movie considerably. I'm just curious about one thing. It seems she does not appear in many movies and TV series, compared to other notable actresses. Does anyone know why? And what does she do professionally when she does not act in a movie? Thanks,
Could someone please explain why the main actors, both the male and female leads, didn't achieve greater fame in Chinese television? It's particularly puzzling when you consider the male lead's handsome appearance, good acting skills, and tall stature – one would assume he should have become a much bigger star. I'm confused about this.
One success of this series is the portrayal of the main villain. He is very scary, cunning and powerful. As a viewer, I'm really worried whether the 'good guys' can defeat him or may be killed. After episode 20 I'm very worried for our main characters, including the elder teacher. In this regard, the TV series has been very successful.
Wow, the first three episodes have set a new benchmark for Chinese wuxia series. Everything is truly impressive. As many have already noted, the tone and color palette give the series a cinematic quality. I would even go so far as to say that these initial episodes can stand toe-to-toe with much of what American Netflix has produced. Of course, the real test will be whether the subsequent episodes maintain this high standard.
One question: I couldn't help but feel that the deaths of the father and brother were too convenient, especially considering they're supposed to be among the elite in the martial arts world. Do you think there might be a plot twist related to their deaths later on?
The second season has many problems for me. The latest issue is how the characters seem to be manipulated to help kill Li Yuanhao. In this series, Li Yuanhao is portrayed as having great martial arts, and being wise and cunning. Certainly at Western Xia he is the best general and politician while his son and his queens are coward. By helping killing Li Yuanhao, somehow the series make our characters look either foolish or cruel or even coward. Very disappointing.
For me, Mysterious Lotus Casebook is among the best costume, wuxia tv series from China for the past two years. It may even be ranked as among the top 5 of any costume tv series. However, I think the tv series is hurt by the weird tendency of Chinese screenwriters and producers to give the 'open ending' or even 'sad ending' to the final episode. It seems they do not learn from the basic Hollywood formula: you can kill supporting characters, but in the end, everything is resolved happily, especially for the main characters. It is a simple but effective formula to keep most of the audience happy. However, for some reason, many excellent Chinese tv series are given open, or even sad, ending, which makes viewers unhappy. Many viewers, once they know that the series does not have happy ending, may even quit and stop watching. In short, the weird trend of open-sad ending must stop if Chinese films want to attract more viewers.
Many Chinese TV series suffer from the phenomenon of starting off strong but tapering off in quality as they progress. Regrettably, this series falls into that category. At first I really liked this drama. But as it progressed, the female lead is very annoying and even clueless. Now even at episode 24, the screenwriters still make her clueless and ignorant of the true love shown by the prince. It is very bad screenwriting.
The Longest Promise, the highly anticipated TV series, falls short of its initial promise. Despite the buzz surrounding its release, the first few episodes leave me feeling disappointed and underwhelmed.
One of the most glaring issues with The Longest Promise is its lack of engaging plots. The narrative feels disjointed and fails to build the necessary intrigue that keeps viewers invested in the characters and their journeys.
Another major drawback of The Longest Promise is its shallow character development. The characters introduced in the early episodes lack depth, making it difficult for the audience to connect with them on an emotional level.
The pacing of The Longest Promise is a significant contributor to its lacklustre experience. The story unfolds at a sluggish pace, with episodes dragging on without significant developments or meaningful plot twists.
The first six episodes of this TV series are an absolute treat, brimming with captivating storytelling that keeps viewers hooked. From the very beginning, the show manages to strike a perfect balance between lighthearted moments and compelling narrative arcs. The characters, each with their unique quirks and personalities, quickly find their way into our hearts, making us genuinely invested in their lives and curious about their destinies.
The plot unfolds with a seamless blend of twists and turns, leaving us constantly on the edge of our seats.
Furthermore, the chemistry between the cast members is palpable, contributing to the series' undeniable charm.
So the nail tragedy will be in episode 26. This is the teaser from tvmao for episode 26: " Ye Xiwu proposed to be removed from the family tree in order to avoid implicating other members of the Ye family and cut ties with them. Dan Tai Jin chose a date to marry Ye Xiwu, despite knowing that Ye Xiwu had ulterior motives, he was still happy to marry her. On the day of their wedding, Ye Xiwu drove a Soul-Extinguishing Nail into Dan Tai Jin's heart, revealing that she came to kill him. This made Dan Tai Jin very angry and he vowed to make Ye Xiwu pay for her actions." Can anyone explain why Ye Xiwu wanted to kill her lover, which seems very silly and evil after she had vowed to love him in earlier episodes?
Hello everyone, I have recently watched the latest episodes of 22 and the overall atmosphere remains light and humorous. Despite the revelation of the villainous female character, the show's tone appears to maintain its lightheartedness. It's difficult for me to anticipate a sudden shift towards a darker and more tragic tone. Do you believe the producers will continue to keep the mood light in the upcoming episodes?
This is the summary of the next three episodes, 21, 22, and 23 for anyone interested. The source is taken from the page tvmao.com: 21) The king of the Sheng Kingdom stole the empress dowager's remains, and in the night, Dantai Jin went to the Sheng Palace and found the king. He thought the king was eager to die, and killed him with a single blow. Ye Xiwu asked Dantai Jin what happened when he left the camp, and learned from him that he went to the Sheng Kingdom to kill someone. Ye Xiwu was very disappointed with him, thinking she could change his nature, and now she regretted trying to influence Dantai Jin all this time.
22) Ye Xiwu discovers that Dantai Jin has been accompanied by Ye Bingshang these past few days, and she feels very upset about it. Ye Bingshang finds Ye Xiwu and tells her that Dantai Jin had liked her back then. She also says that if Ye Xiwu has nothing and only has Dantai Jin to rely on, she doesn't want to compete with her for him. Ye Xiwu learns from Ye Qingyu that Dantai Jin's mother's remains were stolen by the Sheng king, and she realizes that she had misunderstood Dantai Jin.
23) During the Pohhan Festival this year, Ye Xi Wu was chosen as the goddess by the Great Witch, and shortly after, Dantai Jin was also chosen as the Demon God, which surprised Ye Xi Wu. Ye Xi Wu wanted to tell Dantai Jin something and chose to confess to him. Xiao Lin came to assassinate Dantai Jin, and now he was the only one left in Shengguo. He came to assassinate Dantai Jin for revenge, even if it meant risking his life.
Hi everyone, can you pls explain in the Chinese TV system, how does a TV drama like this - and other similar tv series - make money? Do the TV series make money from ads?
Hi everyone, I read somewhere that apparently Douban is the most popular drama ranking website in China. But when I visited Douban, apparently this great TV drama is not 'hot' at all on Douban. I find it very odd. Can you give your comment on this?
If I understand correctly, the novel depicts the tragic fate of the Ye family, including the talented general Ye Qing Yu, who are all killed due to court factional politics (excluding the cunning sister Ye Bing Chang). Currently, in episode 10, the story ends with a cliffhanger, as Tantai Jin and Ye Qing Yu meet. I wonder if the drama adaptation will change the tragic outcome and provide a happier ending for the Ye family. What are your expectations?
