Could you pls help explain what is the 'curse' that prevents Gu Jin and Feng Yin from being together? Apparently the gods are afraid Feng Yin will bring bad things to Gu Jin, so they wanted to stop their love. But what is exactly the 'curse' in this story? I find it a bit illogical here. If Gu Jin and Feng Yin are fated to love each other forever, then how could stopping their love help Gu Jin? Thanks

Good news! The ending is sad, but the director and the screenwriters are sensible enough to let very important characters live. If you watched the last scene, you will understand what I want to convey. Although I have to say this ending is very improbable given what happened in the earlier scenes, but at least the ending will make us cry and smile altogether. Pls share what you think of the ending.

P.S: But a few hours passed, and now rethinking the whole thing, I guess another interpretation is that the last scene is actually only a dream. This reading is, I'm afraid, also very credible. In other words, if we follow this reading, then we have a fairly open ending to placate the audience who dislike the BE.

In my personal opinion, the first episodes of The last immortal shows the xianxia genre has got to the point of boring tropes. I hope the tv series will get better. But the first 4 episodes are not top-notch drama, just so so.

Having watched the latest episodes of 'Wonderland of Love,' I'm compelled to express how this series continues to stand out as one of the best TV dramas this year. The depth and intricacy of the plot are becoming increasingly evident, especially with the twists and turns introduced in these episodes.

What's particularly exciting are the hints dropped in the trailers for episodes 37 and 38. Without revealing too much, it seems like we're on the cusp of uncovering the mastermind behind the recent plots against Cui Lin and her father. This development promises to add an intriguing layer to the narrative.

I just watched the trailer for episode 34 of "Wonderland of Love" and wanted to share some thoughts and concerns with fellow fans.

Firstly, the trailer hints at a significant change in tone for the series. It seems General Cui Yi might suffer a grievous injury and mental trauma after his army's destruction. This direction feels quite tragic and, in my opinion, might not align well with the show's established tone. "Wonderland of Love" has always struck a fine balance between light-hearted moments and thrilling plot developments, avoiding extremes of silliness or seriousness. I'm worried this shift might disrupt that balance.

Another point of concern is the character development of Li Ni. The recent episodes depict him as increasingly naive and hesitant, which seems a bit off-putting. It's a departure from his previously strong and decisive character, and I'm curious to see how others feel about this change.

There is a pattern in many Chinese costume dramas where a strong start gradually gives way to a less coherent plot. I'm hoping "Wonderland of Love" doesn't follow this trend. Both Xu Kai and Jing Tian are fantastic actors who deserve a script that showcases their talents effectively.

I read from a forum that the author Fei Wo Si Cun hinted that Li Ni is related to the characters of her other novel Eastern Palace. As you know Eastern Palace was adapted into the tv series Goodbye My Princess. Can anyone confirm that the author Fei Wo Si Cun did say such a thing? Of course, the two works are written by the same Fei Wo Si Cun, so maybe she wants to create a universe and a timeline for her characters.

The storyline of "Wonderland of Love" seems to draw significant inspiration from the historical tale of Li Shimin, a prominent figure in Chinese history known for his role in the founding of the Tang Dynasty. Li Shimin, later known as Emperor Taizong, was indeed involved in a power struggle with his brothers, which culminated in the dramatic and controversial Xuanwu Gate Incident.

In history, Li Shimin's ascent to power was marked by the ruthless elimination of his brothers, Li Jiancheng and Li Yuanji, during the Xuanwu Gate Incident. This event was a pivotal moment in his path to becoming Emperor. However, historical interpretations of Li Shimin's actions vary, with some viewing him as a strategic and effective leader, while others see him as power-hungry and ruthless.

In "Wonderland of Love," the character Li Ni appears to be a fictional reinterpretation of Li Shimin. The series portrays Li Ni sympathetically, emphasizing his reluctance to engage in the power struggle and depicting him as a victim of his brothers' cruelty and the king's incompetence. This portrayal differs significantly from historical accounts of Li Shimin, who was more actively involved in political maneuvering and power struggles.

The anticipated Hongwu Gate-like incident in the series, where Li Ni is expected to confront his brothers after losing everything, aligns with the historical Xuanwu Gate Incident. However, the show seems to frame Li Ni's actions as a forced response to extreme circumstances, painting him in a more benevolent light compared to historical interpretations of Li Shimin.

As for the series' conclusion, whether Li Ni ascends to the throne remains an open question. The show could either follow the historical path of Li Shimin, leading Li Ni to kingship, or it might take a different turn, reflecting the show's unique narrative and character development. This uncertainty adds an intriguing element to the series, as viewers are left to speculate how closely the fictional account will adhere to historical events or diverge to offer a new perspective on the age-old tale of power, family conflict, and political intrigue.

On Story of Kunning Palace Nov 12, 2023
"Story of Kunning Palace" is currently one of the best offerings in Chinese TV.

However, I'd like to delve into a particular aspect that's been on my mind: King Shen Lang's character portrayal. Shen Lang is depicted as a cunning and intelligent ruler, albeit a bit mean. Given his shrewdness, it would seem logical that he understands the necessity of maintaining a balance between the influential Yan and Xue families. The stability of his kingdom hinges on this balance.

Intriguingly, the narrative allows for the downfall of the Yan family, which to me, seems a bit off. The Yan family's control over a segment of the army is crucial, and their downfall could signify a weakening of military strength, subsequently making the kingdom vulnerable. This seems contradictory to King Shen Lang's cunning nature, as he would surely be aware of the ramifications.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this. Do you think the king's tolerance of the Yan family's downfall aligns with his character, or do you share my view that it's a weakness in the plot?

I've been thoroughly enjoying "Wonderland of Love" so far. The plot is I've been thoroughly enjoying "Wonderland of Love" so far. The plot is engaging, and the on-screen chemistry between Jing Tian and Xu Kai is absolutely delightful. However, I'm a bit puzzled and would love to get your thoughts on the airing schedule of this series (and other Chinese TV series in general).

Have you noticed the erratic nature of the episodes' release? In one week, they might air two episodes a day, and then suddenly, there's a complete halt in airing the following week. This inconsistency is somewhat baffling, and I worry it might affect the audience's interest and engagement with the show.

To illustrate my point, here's the recent schedule for "Wonderland of Love":

Episodes 13 to 16 aired daily from Nov 11 to Nov 12, 2023.
Then, episodes 17 to 20 from Nov 13 to Nov 16, 2023.
But after that, there's a break until Nov 21, 2023, when episodes 21 and 22 are released.
This pattern of a few days' gap continues, with the last episodes, 34 to 39, being spread out from Dec 01 to Dec 07, 2023.
Does anyone know why this happens? Is it a common strategy in Chinese TV broadcasting? Any insights or theories would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone, I've been thoroughly enjoying "The Story of Kunning Palace" so far. However, I have a question regarding the plot. At the moment, it's quite clear that Jiang Xue Ning is interested in pursuing a romantic relationship with Zhang Zhe, who is portrayed as an exceptional character.

Given this setup, I'm curious about how the author intends to convince us that Jiang Xue Ning will ultimately fall in love with Xie Wei instead.

I understand that this is a work of fiction, but as viewers, we need to be immersed in and convinced by the storyline. So, what storytelling techniques or character development choices does the author employ to make this transition

Do you agree that one of the failures of this TV series is making the man lead He Lianxin look fairly stupid? I have nothing against the actor. However, the screenwriting makes the character act oddly and stupidly in many key scenes. This is very off-putting.

I'm curious to learn more about how much the Chinese TV series "Mr. & Mrs. Chen," which is set in the 1940s and depicts Chinese patriots fighting against Japan, is influenced by official politics and propaganda in China. The series appears to have a strong nationalistic tone, which makes me wonder if it is more of a reflection of China's official political stance rather than just an entertaining TV show. It could be that the show is subtly serving as a tool for disseminating the Chinese government's political agenda.

I also wonder how this series is received by international audiences, considering its heavy focus on a specific historical period that is marked by war and nationalism. It would be interesting to see if the 1940s setting and the theme of Chinese patriotism against Japan might make it difficult for the series to appeal to viewers outside of China.

In the TV series, the male lead, He Lianxin, has numerous wives, a fact that might have been a reality in ancient China. However, this portrayal creates a problem when it comes to depicting true love, as the character's numerous marriages dilute the concept of a deep, emotional connection.

Furthermore, He Lianxin's character lacks intelligence, which could be attributed to the screenplay rather than the actor's performance. This flaw makes it difficult for viewers to empathize with him.

A significant issue with the show is its lack of a clear identity. It seems to be caught between wanting to portray the realistic, complex social dynamics of the past, which might not necessarily include romantic love, and wanting to depict an idealistic, romantic society. The show's attempt to merge these two disparate themes ultimately falls flat, as it can't seem to decide whether it wants to have its cake or eat it.

In the latest episode (25) of the series, I was left perplexed when Hua Qian revealed that her family was behind the falsification of the evidence against Mu Yao's family. This revelation seems to have serious implications for her family, particularly her father. What could possibly be Hua Qian's motive for exposing her family's wrongdoing? Doesn't this put her family at risk of ruin? I am trying to understand her actions and would appreciate any insights you might have.

On Scent of Time Oct 19, 2023
From the comments, it looks like the story might only be happening in Hua Qian's dreams while she is in a coma. If this is true, I think it might not be very satisfying for the viewers.

When you spend time and emotional energy on a story, it can be disappointing to find out at the end that "it was all just a dream." It feels like we've been tricked, and the emotional moments and character growth we've seen don't matter anymore. All the challenges and changes the characters go through don't mean as much.

I'm afraid Scent of Time can make the audience feel cheated, as if the time they spent on the story was a waste because the events and characters weren't really "real".

That doesn't mean dream scenes or imaginary worlds are always bad in stories. When used well, they can help us understand a character's thoughts and feelings, or show their inner struggles. But when the whole story turns out to be a dream, it can feel like a cheap trick that hurts the story.

In the end, while the idea of Hua Qian's dream world could be a cool twist, it also risks leaving the audience feeling let down and like they've wasted their time if it's not done carefully.

I understand the ending is sad in that one important character is no longer here with other characters. If it is true, it shows a consistent weird trend of Chinese tv shows, always wanting to make the audience feel sad. I do not know how the SE formula fares in China itself. But I would argue that this SE formula is very off-putting to international audience.
