Thanks to both of you for your input! I read your replies and watched the first five minutes of the first episode and I have to admit that I'm already impressed lol
I'm on the fence as to whether I should watch this drama. I guess my biggest worry is with the age of the main actress. I tried watching Mirror of the Witch earlier this year, where the main actress was 15, and her acting skills just were not enough to get over that number.
So if someone's willing to help, what do you think of the show so far? I know KYJ as a talented child actress, but do you still see her as a "child" actress in this drama? Or is her acting just as good as any older Korean actress?
After watching episode 14, I feel like this drama reached its peak a long, long time ago. The concept is still…
I agree! Their romance feels just a bit too synthetic for me. Tbh I don't mind as much that she created him (although it is weird), but if they built more story around that, I think it would have added more to their relationship. Instead it felt more like "I remember; I was the one who made him! ok cool whatevs" which made me think "wat that's it?"
I hope the ending isn't catastrophic...I don't even know what I want for the characters now lol but it needs to suit the worlds that the writers have created.
After watching episode 14, I feel like this drama reached its peak a long, long time ago. The concept is still one of the most creative I've seen and the acting is superb. But the writers seem to be grasping at straws and creating arbitrary rules for each universe in order to conveniently suit their current needs.
And I get that Kang Chul is a manhwa character and is supposedly perfect because of it, but the whole point is that he acts and feels like a human being. I wanted to see him grow as a character but he's just too goddamn perfect :(
I guess every K-drama is overly prone to dropping in quality after the first half.
I can just about guess why this has received low ratings. It is a poor retelling of the Chinese original. It falls…
Currently watching the Chinese original and I think both have their distinct qualities! Tbh I much prefer the MC in the original to Hae Soo here, and atmospherically speaking Chinese historical dramas are always on point.
But I do appreciate the remake's attempts at comedic relief. And if I'm being completely honest, I do prefer my princes without half-bald hairdos lololol
I am concerned as to where this drama is going though. Usually Korean dramas are way too susceptible to viewers' opinions and I hope this doesn't end up throwing away the dark politics in favor of a stereotypical romance as you said.
Okay.. It looks like the end of the episode made you all forget about something.. Or maybe it's just me who found…
@emylan Haven't seen Splash Splash Love but heard it's good!
Also, I'm unsure if Hae Soo actually existed? Makes me sad to say it lol but it might be like in the original version, where the main character was made up.
@Camellia I feel you there. But I'm scared for what's to come for Soo and Wook since I can't imagine a way for them to be truly happy together. Their relationship is just a little too messed up T_T

@emylan Don't know about that, but I think that's where the drama gets interesting! The writers are starting to take liberties with the relationships and I really like that now, true history is just a backdrop for what's to come. Soo x So all the way <3 (lol their names are way too close)
Everything about Soo's cousin (sister?) makes me feel so bad...poor girl deserved so much more than what she was given T_T I really wish they didn't feel the need to kill her off, since this is only going to make Soo and Wook suffer so much more.
Watched three episodes. Zheng Shuang's less-than-noteworthy acting also doesn't give me much hope so far. Love the concept of an RPG but don't know if I can continue ;-;
Personally enjoyed first ep. The feel is unique for a Korean drama and so far the plot seems like it's going to be a lot more interesting than what the synopsis is letting on. Looking forward to it!
wat

And Wook's reply letter hahaha
