I seriously don't understand how this is rated only a 7.7 rn 😭. This is honestly one of the best bls I've seen both this year and that past few years; the acting, the chemistry, the story flow, the comedic timing, god everything about it so far is just so good. Definitely watching the next episode the minute it comes out
Today's episode was great as per usual but I couldn't help but giggle at the sound they used in the dinner scene near the end 😭😭It was so out of nowhere lmao
happy for you while in real life homosexuals are dying, being bullied and beaten, but for you real life is studying…
I am very much aware that in multiple countries, it is illegal to marry someone of the same gender. However, we've reached a point in society where a significant portion of those countries' populations disagrees with such laws, including many who are not part of any sexual minority. Even those who don't disagree with the law often still mind their own business. That is why there are so many ongoing protests to abolish these laws. They've already legalized gay marriage in Taiwan, which is where this series takes place.
I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to argue here, but if you're suggesting that the story is unrealistic because it doesn't show the prejudice gay people commonly face, the series will eventually address that. It was a huge turning point in the novel, and to avoid spoilers, I'm sure that they'll follow through with that plot point. Besides, why are you so eager to see gay characters beaten up and bullied, to the point that you'd accuse me, someone who's actually gay, of "living in Disney" just because I've never experienced such horrible hate crimes? Is it because the angst and drama of it all entertains you? Either enjoy the series or don't; there is no point in accusing those who are enjoying the school life aspect of the series of being unaware of how "real life homosexuals are dying."
While I agree that different people may have different perspectives and opinions, and everyone are entitled to…
I think what makes the story come off as too slow to some people is the fact that the romance isn't the story's only main focus; the story also explores friendship, family, academic hardship, etc. This isn't just a romance drama; it's a youth drama as well. Since the story takes its time exploring these themes (as it should from a critical standpoint, because rushing them would only harm the story), the romance isn't progressing as quickly as some people are used to or expecting. Besides, even if the story were solely focused on romance, it makes sense from a critical standpoint that the romance isn't fast paced, given that Tian and Wang didn't exactly start off on the right foot. I get that this type of story isn't for everyone, but addressing certain aspects of the story like they're objective issues just doesn't make sense to me 💀.
Obviously it's fine to not like a series for whatever reason you may have, but how are people complaining that the romance is too slow when we're only on episode 4 out of 12 💀. They were on bad terms with each other from the beginning; it makes sense that they've only just become friends. Give them a moment to develop further feelings for each other lmao

Oh I loved His Man season 2! It was much better than the first season, in my opinion. That'd be cool if those scenes were actually shot at the same camping site they went to in His Man!

Oh I had heard about the second season of Love Class! I had watched the first season a long time ago, but it didn't really impress me so I didn't watch the second season, but it's good to know that the second season actually deviates from the first season 😊. Thank you for your recommendations, I'll check them out!

Possibly lol, it makes sense that they would do that out of reassurance. I sometimes forget that some people like going into bl expecting an intimate scene right off the bat 😭. I personally prefer slow burns like this story since what I mainly find entertaining about the romance genre is the anticipation of how or when they will get together, so I was hella surprised when I saw that they kissed so soon and out of nowhere 😭😭.
I agree that there are so many phenomenal danmei novels that should get adapted! My favorite one is Earth is Online, but I feel like if that were to get adapted it would be censored since the story would work without the romance aspect, unlike this story where the romance is the main focus/plotline. Taiwan please adapt EIO 😔🙏
Can you spoil (with the spoiler tag of course) to me what those characteristics are? I haven't read the novel…
Of course, I'm glad I was able to help explain that to you! Omg and I knoww I wish I had finished the novel when I finally had the time 😭😭. Although I do like the plot and characterization of the novel, I do still appreciate how well this novel was adapted, despite all the changes. It's truly a blessing that it was adapted with such obvious care 🙏

Thank you for your input! That makes sense as well, that it isn't exactly that he is homophobic. I agree that it's amazing we were lucky enough to receive an adaptation of a same sex work that isn't censored, and there is an avengers-like crew behind it 😋. I still see where some individuals are coming from though, as most of the outrage seems to stem from the 2 kiss scenes that happened in episode 2. For me, even as someone who didn't entirely read the novel, those scenes felt out of place and out of character. I thought that was the reason people were upset, but when I had read on an explanation of the later chapters of the novel, I guessed the reason was something much more than just that. Besides, putting aside the story being different from the novel, I feel like if they were to take out those two kiss scenes from episode two, it wouldn't really make a difference in the current storyline so far. They seemed purposeless to me lmao
The series may change some of it but they stands and stick to its own, the drama Jiang Tian version is still consistent…
Yeah, I think the series is great if you disregard everything that they could've added to give the plot and character more like the novel had. I mean I'm enjoying it so far lol. Like you said too, boycotting the series in China wouldn't do much lmao, and besides even though I completely get why some fans of the novel are upset with the adaptation, it's wayyyy too exaggerative to boycott it 😭😭
Can you spoil (with the spoiler tag of course) to me what those characteristics are? I haven't read the novel…
I forgot the spoiler tag existed 💀. Essentially, the main spoiler regarding the character traits that I mentioned is that in the novel, Jiang Tian is homophobic. The reason for this is that when he was younger, he had caught his father having an affair with another man, which is why his parents divorced. Thus, from then on, both him and his mom had an involuntary adverse reaction with homosexuality in general as a trauma response. This was especially the case for Jiang Tian, because imagine how a child who is no older than 10 would react to witnessing his married father having sex with another man. He already had somewhat of a strained relationship with both his parents to begin with since they hadn't given him much attention when he was younger (he was cared for and raised by his grandparents), and after that incident, he no longer wanted anything to do with his father.
Given that character trait, along with his character being extremely protective of his mother and highly distrusting in Sheng Wang and his father, the kiss scene at the end of episode 2 makes absolutely no sense, even if you were to argue that he only did it out of spite.
Sheng Wang kissing Jiang Tian also doesn't make sense, even if it were just a dare, considering that in the novel, he was also highly guarded against the Jiang family, just as Tian was with his. This was because, as the series has also mentioned, Wang wasn't at all ready for a new family. His character was also the type to go so far as to fail all his exams just to be placed in a different class from Tian when he realized his own feelings for him. He is avoidant; both of them were. That's why the novel was such a slow burn, because they kept avoiding their feelings for each other due to their own separate reasons. For them to kiss at such an early stage of the story kind of waters down the whole essence and depth of the plot and characters since it contradicts both of their character arcs and their relationship arc.
This is the thread that I got this information about the later chapters of the novel from, and it also shows a few excerpts from the novel itself: https://x.com/yihuist/status/1827325745674215888
No, it's an adaptation of a novel by the same name as the series; though, I get why you're confusing the two since theyre slightly similar in some aspects lol
I just read a Twitter thread that was posted in the comments as to why Chinese fans of the novel are upset with the adaptation and yeah, I can see why now. I only read a portion of the novel a year ago and never got to read the rest of the chapters, so I didn't know about the vital character arcs that happened in the latter half of the story that were derived from certain character traits that Jiang Tian and Sheng Wang possessed in the novel (I'm trying not to spoil lol), which were somewhat stripped away in this series. I can see how this series' approach with removing/minimalizing those traits takes away from the whole essence and sense of purpose the original story had.
It's one thing to not go scene by scene or dialogue by dialogue since that would be senseless as an adaptation, but it's another thing to change the characters to the point that it alters the whole story. Nevertheless, I still think the series itself so far is really good, and I'll probably still enjoy it, but I think it's entirely valid for fans of the novel to be upset at the changes that were made. Though, boycotting it as some were mentioning is a wee bit extreme lmao 💀
i cant be the only one who is watching most ongoing series from korea, japan and taiwan but still. bored like…
I'm not sure what your taste is but I am currently watching One Spring Night and I love it! The story is very emotionally mature and realistic compared to a lot of k-dramas that I've seen; it's pretty refreshing. As for the acting, honestly, it's so phenomenal that I sometimes forget they're just playing a character, especially with Jung Hae-in's performance. I knew he was a good actor based off of his performance in D.P., but I never knew just how well he does in romance roles. The soundtrack is really damn good too, especially the intro song. It isn't a bl, but if you haven't already watched it, I highly recommend it!
