That's not a healthy relationship, regardless of where the story goes." I don't really see a toxic/non healthy relationship as a flaw, although obviously that scenario is pretty unrealistic lol. Imo it makes for a more interesting watch seeing how a relationship like that develops.

I don't think you're in the minority here when you say it was wasted potential tho. I've checked the reviews for MLN on here and really there was a bunch of reviews with 6.5s and 5s. On sites like reddit it was a bit more split but still a lot of them share the same critiques as you. I love bleak shows with a melancholic and mundane atmosphere. One of my other favorite kdramas is Lost. I recommend it, that one was better received by more people imo.

One last thing is that I do think having certain life experiences or being a certain age will impact how you feel about this drama.

I'd argue it's the execution that sucks. I'd give s1 of squid game a 6/10 personally. I think the premise was there and it was interesting but the first couple episodes drag on far too much before it gets to the main games and even then it feels way too long for such a short drama. Seeing as you gave it a 3/10 for s1 I can guarantee you that the next 2 seasons would be a 1/10 or even lower if it was possible to rate in negative numbers.

I’m super late to this but excellent review. I would even give it a much lower lower score even tho I watched it before the KSH news it was just awful and contrived at every turn. Kim ji-won did give a great performance and she looked amazing which is why I would probably give this shitshow a 4/10 max but amazing review girl.

Debating whether I watch this as it’s airing or just wait to watch it all in one go or at my own pace really. I loved my liberation notes and my mister but these types of shows aren’t all that binge worthy since they’re so heavy.

There might be a slow burn subplot romance but I wouldn’t expect too much if I were you. The show is going to focus on the inner struggles of the characters and it’s going to be a great heavier slice of life melodrama.

Don’t really like haein but I gotta say I like the rest of the cast. Also nice to see ha-young getting a lead role, she’s very pretty and I liked her in trauma code.

W two worlds isn't good. It suffers from having shallow characters but mostly it's the male lead who sucks, couldn't stand looking at his botched face. I'm not hating on jisoo tho? that's a crazy jump in logic. If anything before the drama came out I was criticizing the male leads. I like jisoo.
