You cant judge the role at the initial episodes. Even at episode 1 he was already showing empathy to the old guy manning their outpost herb house when he got poisoned. he gave him his elixir. He refused to informed his father that there were assassins mixed with the brides because he was afraid his father will implicate the innocent brides. How can you missed these? These are not even all I have pointed out. Watch the entirety and come back here, if still the role didn't convince you then this genre is not your cup of tea.

Watch his ongoing series "The Snow Moon", though its only 10 mins per episode which I hated.

They deserved it because they are good actors even though they were still new in the industry.
