Idk if anyone cares about this kinda stuff, but I wanna share a bit of the production circumstances of this drama. Mostly cause this stuff interests me lol. This was an "account-sharing" drama, meaning that the production company (Free Cool Whale in this case) independently funded this drama and then later partnered with a platform (iQiyi, Tencent, Youku) to publish it to the masses. Then they split the revenue that's generated from subscription fees, views, or whatever other metrics. This is a fairly new method (within the last 5-7 years) and tends to be low budget (this drama was /NOT/ though). Outside of hosting and maybe consulting, iQiyi had little to do with the creation of this drama.
For reference, other account-sharing dramas are stuff like Oh! My Emperor, Dragon Day You're Dead, Chef Hua, Conspiracy of Love, My Fated Boy, Love in Time, Make My Heart Smile, Plot Love... quite the mixed bag in terms of quality, but there's definitely a...pattern. SFOT kinda stands out here imo..

This was filmed in winter 2020-21, so I'd hold your breath for any ~new~ materials. Especially cause Qu Chu Xiao is BALD (well buzzcut) rn and Zhang Jia Ning also has short hair.

My tinfoil hat theory is that he also traveled to that timeline - the students make references to how accurate he is at guessing exam questions, his future speech was too spot-on, he was really apprehensive when Lin Bei Xing brought him to the lighthouse. Perhaps his confession sent him back to reality with her. Something like that. Idk.
It's too sad to think that he wouldn't be able to retain any of those sweet moments, but I guess it'd be a fitting role reversal for them - this time she's the one who remembers 🥺

Characters like Zhang Wan Sen are almost always regulated to second male lead, where it is hard for them to shine. Such characters need a delicate balance - they can easily come off as creepy and stalkerish, the actors can easily give a wooden, stiff performance. Between the scriptwriters and Qu Chu Xiao, they've really gave us an irreplaceable character and Zhang Jia Ning gave us his irreplaceable match 🥺🥺

The happiest Zhang Wan Sen died the most definite death and the Lin Bei Xing who had finally found her world has to continue with that knowledge.. the way it played out was already tragic enough for me, your pain tolerance must be incredible lol

Nothing quite hits the same as Zhang Wan Sen's unique existence, but MLs with a longstanding love aren't too, too rare at least.
