So much potential

Man this had so much potential. Kenny Bee as a super rich surgeon (like impossibly rich for being a surgeon) with a new young wife played by Jessica Hsuan. Suddenly boom, we get introduced to the family and they are all different kinds of messed up, 2 sons and 2 daughters played by some really great TVB actors like Kenneth Ma and Edwin Siu. If you want to see rich dysfunctional family then this one is perfect.

Somehow later, all of Kenny Bee and his boys get on a plane to fly back to Hong Kong because of some emergency, but their plane crashes, killing everybody onboard. This results in all the cool male characters being removed in episode 1! What? The rest of the drama is then propped up by the women only, and my issue with this is that is becomes a taco-fest. You need a good mix of men and women to make a good drama, but here it is just annoying drama with these women that do things that make no sense when you think about it for more than a nanosecond. The female actors here from Angel Chiang, Moon Lau, Celina Harto and Jinny Ng (especially Jinny) were mostly annoying to watch because they flip-flop constantly in what drives them and their reasons for doing what they are doing. And the constant bitch-mode against Jessica purely because she married Kenny Bee just before he died got so tiresome.

At first the drama makes it out as if the big bad was Alice Chan. She was Kenny Bee’s secret lover until he decided to marry Jessica, and that really pissed her off to such an extent that she decided to try and take over Kenny Bee’s hospital and destroy from within. Later we discover she was not the big bad and she did not get Kenny Bee and his boys killed in the plane, it was actually Ruco Chan. Huh? It turned out Ruco used to have thing for Moon Lau, but she later married Kenneth Ma and joined Kenny Bee’s family, so out of jealousy he plotted to have them killed and take over the hospital out of spite. With this revelation, Alice Chan switches sides and helps Jessica deal with that bastard.

It ends with Jessica going to reopen her dad’s old clinic to help the needy. Like how crap is that ending? I mean she had all this money and power and in the ending she goes lol snd decides to give it all up. There was some doctor healing and surgeries in the drama but they were all politically motivated and felt like an afterthought. Overall an average drama and not worth rewatching.
