Title The Untamed
Apologies, but I am going to write from another point of view:)I am tired of writing on this page. There has NEVER…
I have come across some comments where it was mentioned the drama had a smaller budget. So I assumed that it was probably a fact. My Apologies if I am wrong here. However there is nothing wrong if a drama isn't made with a big budget. It can happen for a multitude of reasons and doesn't make it's worth any less.

Though there is indeed such a thing called good or bad CGI whether it applies to TU or not. Maybe saying good or bad isn't appropriate, so I'll rephrase it and say 'more' or 'less' sophisticated CGl. It has to do with the advancement of technology in general. However, I agree that what matters in cinema is the scene and how it impacts the viewers.

Where did I say that I am generalizing the untamed fans? I think you may have misunderstood some points of my post. My comment was strictly directed at some of the so-called critics of this show that I have come across here. It is mostly just my opinion and I am not trying to impose it on others. But I have indeed come across comments where people have expressed similar views as mine, though it may differ from yours and some others.

One can still love a show or anything in general while finding 'little imperfections' in it. Definition of perfection can also vary from people to people. If I say that I've noticed some bloopers or say that an action scene could have been better, it doesn't make my love any less.

I am not sure why you're feeling strange after reading my post as I am not the only one who has expressed their frustration at those posts.

Although I am new here, I have been reading reviews on MDL for years, following the CQL discussion on this thread for months, and CQL discussions elsewhere even longer. The reason I joined MDL in the first place because I enjoyed reading the discussions here and those comments are getting tiresome. Anyway, I have said what I had to say and I won't be commenting on this matter further.

In the past few days, there have been some people who are coming here with their queries and criticisms of the show and its fandom. As a fan of this show, I'd like to say a few things regarding it.

It is not true that fans of this show are unable to take any valid criticisms. Fans are in fact well aware of some of the technical issues, the CGI/VFX weren't that great in a few scenes, some action scenes weren't well choreographed, bloopers etc. The drama most likely didn't have a very big budget. If people still love this drama, it is because this show is much more than its few technical shortcomings and stands tall with its actors, characters and storyline.

There are some questions about the female characters of this show. WWX and LWJ are the lead characters of this story. All other characters, whether male or female are supporting characters. Since the story is told from WWX's POV and revolves around his life, it needs to be viewed from his POV and how the other characters impact and influence his life. There is no rule as to how many characters should be there on the show, it all depends on the story. The female characters though fewer in numbers, have a significant impact in the story and WWX's life, and their screen time not very less than other male supporting characters, it is maybe just bit more or bit less.

The show didn't get popular because XZ and WYB are idols. WYB though a kpop idol, is not from a hugely popular group. His group didn't promote for long and even a lot of kpop stans were unfamiliar with him. XZ is from a cpop group, and cpop is not yet as popular or as accessible as kpop. For many fans, TU is their first cdrama. XZ and WYB were able to win the hearts of viewers with their performances.

Constructive criticism regarding any show is welcome as long as it is reasonable. But those who say that they dropped it after the first few epis and isn't even aware of the complete storyline cannot question why fans who watched it fully find it deep and meaningful. Fans have obviously seen and understood something that non fans haven't. Also, finishing the show in less than half a day or just watching a 10 min preview of each epi means that they don't know or understand the whole story. How will they analyze and discuss it then?

If even after a year of its airing, TU continues to be popular and discussed, it means that a significant number of people have been deeply moved by it. Every day new fans keep coming in. After the airing of TU, cdramas have also witnessed a huge surge in popularity, all thanks to 'The Untamed'. People now look forward to the upcoming shows of its actors and even other shows and actors.

Lastly, if someone doesn't find it interesting, that is their prerogative. Do they really have to be explained by fans why they find it interesting when the opinions of fans won't make them interested enough to give it another try? If TU isn't someone's cup of tea, there are countless other dramas to pick and choose from. Fans however, will continue to love and discuss it, today and for years to come.

LOL, so far in my watch history, this is one drama with an all-male finale. Also, what finally happened to those…
In your previous comment you said you were on episode 7. how does anyone finish 43 episodes in a matter 6-7 hours unless they've skipped a lot of things in the middle?

We always talk about how lan wangji saved ah yuan's life but have u even though about how maybe ah yuan's presence…
I never actually thought of it this way, but now that you've mentioned it, this might indeed be one of the reasons. The other reason being his hope of finding WeiYing, somehow, somewhere. Come to think of it, Sizhui means 'to long for' right? So he is a symbol of his longing, his hope. A motivation that kept him going.

Though I haven't had the time to watch 'The Wolf' yet, I am so happy to see the reception this drama and XZ's performance recieved. Hopefully I can watch it soon.
On Wang Yi Bo Nov 27, 2020
Person Wang Yi Bo
Absolutely loved Yibo's Vogue film with ZhouXun. This kind of character really suits him. Loved the ambience of the film, as well as the intensity and the chemistry.

So many comments about not being able to move on. Whether new fans or old fans, all of us are on the same boat. Most of us have accepted that TU will forever rule our hearts.

I know I have said that the first 2 episodes of the show are confusing (and they are!!!) but that's exactly what…
Yes, the first 2 episodes are basically a build up for the story and is not meant to be fully understood by those who haven't read the books. I didn't understand much of anything either but I still kept going. Anyone who is interested in watching it but doesn't understand should at least wait till the end of episode 2. Then it will surely catch their interest.

I started watching The Untamed about five-six months ago, followed by the special, the novel and the chibi donghua. I originally picked up the drama and the novel last year but I had to put it on hold. When I picked it up again this year, I was only expecting to watch a nice, entertaining drama. Little did I know, that this would become a once in a lifetime experience. This drama, the story and the entire CQL/MDZS experience is just too beautiful to describe. It even made me want to come here and write a review which no kdrama has ever managed to do, no matter how much I liked them. I am in awe of this story, the characters and not to mention, the actors Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo. Both of them gave splendid performances.
