From my understanding, I think the reason CX calls him shifu and not uncle because his aunt already divorced him. Again, from my understanding in Chinese culture they used to place great importance to master-disciple relationship. I saw this in some other dramas as well...when someone became 'shifu', the disciples addressed them as shifu regardless of what other relationship they had.
Well for TSJ, he is described as astute but I think we are not seeing much of that in the drama because he was already locked up for many years...so he became disillusioned about his old lifestyle. The only thing he really wants now is to be with XY.
I also think he prefers to do things discreetly, like when he convinced CFL to help CX...and there are some other things as well...you'll find out more as you watch.

The grandma does suspect him which the bro mentions in one of the epis but TSJ didn't tell her anything. Only his servants, Fenglong etc knows the truth. He didn't go back right away after his maid found him. He went back after a long time. His bro actually doesn't have much outside support and TSJ has a wider support, so he couldn't really do much about it when TSJ returned.
TSJ didn't completely forgive his bro, he keeps a distance but he still didn't do anything against him to compensate for the wrongdoings of his own mom. What TSJ's mom did to the bro was actually quite horrible. She mistreated TSJ's bro all his life and caused him a lot of emotional damage.
2. Xiang Liu is part of the Chenrong army because their general Hong Jiang is his adoptive father. He is not FFYY's real brother. He is just pretending to be Fang Feng Bei because he once made a deal with the real FFB to look after his mom before the real FFB passed away. The Fang Feng family supports CX's uncles, so he was working for the uncles at that time and moreover he is enemies with the Xiyan family anyway.
3. Personally, I love Deng Wei as TSJ, so I have nothing to say about your take on his acting.
