This does not sound like an objective criticism to begin with. You can't judge the storyline of a 40 epi drama after just watching 4 episodes. Why should the costumes have a dusty feel?..and who's costumes? They lead characters are either immortals, gods, princes and well to do people. They are not gonna wear worn out clothes, so it doesn't make sense.

I just finished epi 8 and the nanny Lan'an is a hypocrite. Like ok, she betrayed him for the sake of her daughter but why is she judging him for defending himself? Then she goes on and defends Yingxin too. They can betray him for their own gain, but he can't look out for himself? What sort of logic is that?

Yes she is better than SFL
I do think the SFL is pretty. But she is a bit bland and her character doesn't help either. I'll probably like her better in another show.
