I said this before, but while watchkng episode 34, Xu Hai Qiao (Shen Jing) has looked the best he's ever looked in a drama. What a perfect role for him. You can jusy feel the conflict radiate off him. His long hair is so beautiful too, ahhh, he really is becoming a favourite of mine.
Seeing how MZH and her 8th sister have made peace, I wouldn't be surprised if MZH somehow also wins over Sun Yun…
Yeah, she's kinda of obsessed with MZH, collecting her poetry, going head to head, trying to outsmart her, shes like a feret chasing a fox. I find it a bit adorable at times.

To copy what I wrote elsewhere: It's everything I wanted The Legend of Anle to be and Royal Rumors (which had me in the first half, but lost my interest as it went on).
Like, it's not a groundbreaking drama, but there's a lot of intrigue so far, like I want to know the mystery of her family. The FL is not only adorable, but clever, honest and actually shows her intelligence. There's a lot moments outside of the romance that really help build her as a character. She's kind of a badass who will stand up for herself. She also supports the sex workers near her, and idk, I just love her. I also like how they actually show the FL being smart and not just saying she is lol, she's mature but playful, a fine line that most dramas can't seem to balance.
I'll admit I didn't love the voice acting on the ML, but his character is intriguing, and I can't keep my eyes off him in a scene, he is stoic but not frozen or stiff, also a tricky line to walk, cery mesmerizing. Chemistry is quite good, it's been a slow build which is nice.
There's some nice touches of realism which is fun, like the carriage being super bouncy. But also some goofy fun things, like her maid being super fucking strong (I adore that little power house). The beautiful princess isn't a rival (I don't think??) and she supports the FL.
There's just some fun things in this drama that are really refreshing and goes against grain a bit. There are some janky things like the filter and some cuts (but what's new?).
I think the cinematography is actually so pretty! You can tell they put a lot of care into it, and the costumes are quite nice too. I also really like the soundtrack, cones in at the right time.
It subverts all my usual annoyances, so I'm pleased and enterained.

I find her whiny amd touch too childish (which is strange because I didn't mind it in LBFAD) its just a matter of perference! Do hope it gets better, but for it's a drop from me. (Costumes are stunning though)
On ep 10, I don't know how I feel about the ML pretty much exploiting this poor burnt out woman for free labour and dumping all his problems on her. Like?? I want to see this poor lady r e s t... does this get addressed or does she go back to recovering? Does he apologise and own up to his behavior? Otherwise it kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
This is an alright drama, good to watch if there's nothing else on. Pretty OST, pretty actors, but lacking something.
I think perhaps the character motivations feel a bit weak. I think a lot of the issue lies in the script and directing. It's a mid drama, 7.5-8 level. Unfortunate since it has a lot of potential, but the bad CGI, weak editing and the quality isn't deserving of its actors.
Give it a shot, form your own opinion, its not a bad drama, but as of current, its just okay.
This may be my favourite role Dilraba has played yet. Love her playful expressions.

So far, really fun so far, with lots of mystery and intrigue. Where is lacks in some places in makes up in others. Maybe the CGI is weak but the outfits are gorgeous ect ect.

I'm so glad this drama isnt scared to mess up actors hair or protray them as less than perfect. It's so entirely refreshing.
