SAME!! i didnt feel sorry at all for her in that scene. just super unnecessary and put in as a device to make her look incredibly desperate - but I felt like emotionally it fell flat? Cos I honestly have never felt desperation from the sisters, esp the two older ones. In-joo was still strolling around seoul/the countryside with that backpack of bills not too long ago. I was just sitting there rolling my eyes at how stupid she is. she talked so much to that woman who clearly isn't gonna give her a dollar bill and even begged her. come onnn

this is kinda the reason why i can't get into the sisters. especially the two older ones. Like.... they dont seem that desperate for the money with the way they are acting. Which is kinda off to me in some way, I can't feel the desperation from sisters who are apparently so poor and effectively abandoned by their parents. The second one is self-righteous and rather be poor (sure, sis). And the first one is.. what is in-joo even doing? if she's so hesitant and scared to be in the company of so much money, esp now that she knows where it comes from, just donate it to charity?? but that would mean this drama ending at ep 2 or sth lol.

same. and she did for what... days, weeks? I can't even walk around with $1000 in my wallet, and this girl walking ard korea with a gigantic backpack with $2Bil inside. no idea why she needed to even bring the backpack to meet the ceo, like?? other scenes like the beating up one in ep 4 made no sense to me as well.

same. wouldnt have touched it smelt it or gone near it. But at this point, I think in-hye will do anything park/won tell her to, cos she's mesmerised by them/their life. she finds it glamourous/exciting and seems to be willing to throw her sisters away to disappear into their world. she may look up to Won sang-a as the mother she never had.

I dont straight up hate any of the sisters, but In-hye isnt scoring any points with me, with the way she is selfishly going about trying to "get out of her poor life" whilst her sisters try to help her get out of the Park family's clutches. I can understand her desperation but turning her back on her sisters and saying all those unkind words over and over? gosh.
in-joo is incredibly stupid, I just didn't expect this level of stupidity when KGE mentioned that she was "ditzy". the beating was so unnecessary and could have been avoided. she even went to a shady, rich person's house with those expensive shoes (knowing full well that the family is already sus, and that there are only 3 pairs of those shoes in korea), and announcing that she will pay for in-hye's education, when she has got to know that Hyorin's mum knows they are from an incredibly poor family. like whuttttt. she doesnt even trust Choi Do Il yet she straight up tells Won Sang-A her private plans, and, with the shoes, gets the woman on her tail. Now she's entangled in their family schemes and mess just like In-hye. Ughhhh. For someone that thinks of money all day and seems to be "scheming" all the time, she's not smart at all.

Same, I feel it adds way more atmosphere and suspense than all the music with lyrics that OSTs usually have

I wish a friend would give me shoes like that! lol jk. But honestly, we dont really know at this point how much hwa young genuinely loves in joo. I think she may have started off thinking in-joo may be easily conned into the game they are playing cos she's also a fellow wangtta and not very smart, but she did leave all the 70Bil in in-joo's name. Though that could be more of a last-ditch attempt as she knew they were coming after her. so who knows really, more will be revealed im sure.

I feel sorry for in-joo but on so many levels I dont quite get her. She can be so stupid like this and yet be smart at other times. Yes! And not only losing it but like asking to be beaten for 100mill won, really??? (That scene was very unnecessary btw) like why dont just surrender the 2 Bil and go to grand-aunt? She was asking her to help a get a house just earlier in the day anyway. Or she could have gone to Choi Do Il as well, I know she doesn't trust him 100%, but at this point, it's not like she has anyone else. And honestly, he had many chances to sabotage her, but he hasn't. So dude clearly has other motives.

Same! I feel like she rather throw her sisters under the bus and join in with Park's shenanigans. She's used as a pawn in their game/public image - which she doesn't know yet.

This is by far and beyond the best K-drama I've seen in a longggg time, I'm talking years. The plot, the characters, the cinematography, even the OST (the music has no lyrics, love it!) just have me, hook line and sinker. Each episode has me watching from start to finish, zero pauses, just wanting to see what happens next. It's so unpredictable!

Some initial thoughts:
- I prefer the "supporting" characters to the sisters for now. Choi Do Il, The grand-aunt, the Park family, Hwa young/Director Shin's story, how it all links up etc. Hyorin's mum is scary, just as evil or even worse than her husband. Pretty sure they have been using the blue orchid to kill people for ages - since her father's time. The grand-aunt is just wow - I was super excited to see her stroll in and just pay off In-hye's bills just like that. And her wanting to sell her long-time apartment to In-Joo. She does love the girls, but there's some backstory and hurt and other stuff there that gives her that icy outer shell. I'm beginning to think Choi Do Il is not as bad as he comes across, but he's abit of a double-agent sort of person (plays for both teams - Park's and In-Joo's) and I still can't figure out how did he get involved in all of these/what's his intentions. It will be revealed in due course I'm sure.
- In-Joo. Hmm. I dont know. I can't really grasp her character and I don't know if it's the acting cos I'm not a fan in general of KGE's acting - she makes a quite abit of quite strange expressions esp in the 1st 2 eps. And she's not very...smart. KGE did mention she's rather ditzy, but she doesn't really question alot of things. 1) hwayoung gets her to sign a stack of papers in english and she goes ahead and does it without asking though she has been scammed before (re. her ex-husband) 2) gives the packet of money to In-hye in front of opportunistic mum and then doesn't conceal it well in her bedroom either 3) Has a bagpack of 50K won bills but carries it everywhere and does not endeavour to make plans to spend it relatively quickly. 4) gets caught and offers to get beaten up for 100 million won. Okay..... this scene was very unnecessary btw I thought. She could have just surrendered it and asked Grand-aunt for help. Or Choi Do Il. But not lemme degrade myself for 100 million won. okay..... Yet at the same time she is rather smart and can figure some things out quite well (the slush fund stuff). So I'm like... do you pick and choose when you want to be smart/silly?
- In-Kyung, not a huge fan of hers but at least she's consistent. She's principled, is incredibly annoyingly impulsive though, especially with dangerous people like Park - confronting him several times? not smart. And she hates money.. okay....
- In-hye. Like her friend said, she's ungrateful towards her sisters who have suffered so much themselves when they were younger (esp in joo) and now are trying to give her a better life, yet she rebuffs them any chance she gets. Her words are also incredibly cutting and if I had a sister like her. I'd have been so incredibly hurt =/ I feel like at this point, she'd throw her poor sisters under the bus to be with Park's family (also to prove a point to him when he challenged her in ep 3)... yet she'd rather play with their Park family tactics instead of going to grand-aunt perhaps. Okay.... she doesnt realise it now, but she's being used as a pawn in the rich vs poor narrative here. Used to be the rich to go against the poor (her sisters).
- I dont hate any of the sisters, just find them annoying sometimes like how you'd find some ppl annoying sometimes no matter how much u like them lol. and they are very realistic portrayals.

some minor thoughts:
- people keep saying why injoo and inkyung dont talk to one another. erm.. have you never heard of families who live together for decades and have no idea that one of them is a serial killer etc with dead bodies in the basement and all? extreme example but you can very easily hide things from each other, including family. you can love each other alot, like the sisters do here, but they are all very caught up in their own day to day stresses and problems. talking about heavy things like that when they are back home and tired may be the last thing on their minds. this is very realistic family portrayal, and i love it.

I tried this cos so many ppl were hyping it like crazy and dropped it in the second ep. Ive also watched too many shows in this genre so i wasn't wowed at all. So predictable i alr knew which direction it was heading in ep 1. Acting was good but more so from the supporting characters. Hsh remains overrated for me

PMY has never been a good actress, and she's just following the pattern here in WWSK (which I had to drop cos it just wasn't good). She's very one-note, plays similar roles all the time (same genres as well - romcoms, which is a dead end road) and is never in character. She always looks like she's acting - a sign of a mediocre actor. Another thing about her is she has this tendency to always need to look pretty on cam, you can literally watch the thoughts going in her head as the camera is rolling "I need to look pretty! gotta look pretty!". Her roles always have her dressed and styled similarly - so it all just bleeds into one. She's giving off similar vibes in her new weather drama stills. Interesting you mentioned she's fake cos that's the vibe i get from her generally, not just her acting but her varieties/interviews as well.

I didn't make any judgment, I just said I'm not planning to watch it.

Oof i loved gagyung n jinwoos scenes together! So much sexual tension n u can tell they do care for each other despite their circumstances.
Tammy n morgan were so boring and unmatched i ff-d all their scenes (too many scenes of them too). She comes off so bored and he's so pushy n borderline creepy.
Scarlet n ji hwan were super cute but i dont really see their rlshp lasting tbh.
Scarlett tho is everything i want to be in a woman lol. Beautiful, talented, sassy n honest. Plus she goes cray cray over makjang dramas lol

Indeed she was! Gosh i couldn't even remember her in CT although I watched the whole thing through (but mostly for YAI). Not watching/planning to watch Melancholia either. Yes she comes off very boring and cold onscreen. Just draining to watch

Oh gosh this drama is just so good. An underrated gem. Gets a 10 out of 10 from me, will write a proper review soon. Heartwarming, heartfelt with great characters all round. I drop 90% of dramas i watch but this one had my hooked. This is exactly how you do slice of life with great character growth and backstory in as little as 10 eps (cdramas and kdramas, take note).

I loved Scarlett and Brian too! Scarlett is the woman I wanna become lol. Brian is just such a quirky and cool boss.
I disliked Ga Gyeong at first but slowly grew to really like her. She and her husband had more romantic tension than the other 2 couples on there. Jeon Hye Jin is a really good actress!
Ta Mi is my least fav. She doesn't come across very competent at work frankly (I find Scarlett to be way smarter and more creative), and gosh, I saw no chemistry between her and Morgan/JKY( Whom I dont really like as an actor). There was so much focus on their boring romance I FF-ed ALL the scenes they were in. Such a pointless relationship - she doesnt even want to get married, he does. They dont seem to ever agree on this, so why continue seeing each other and rehashing the same talking points over and over. smh,
I rather the time be spent on the workplace or on the other two FLs and their romances.

Yeah i remb the writer saying the script was tailored just for her. GHJ - I only like her in her movie roles, I feel she has a similar vibe in most of her drama roles. Also I think her pairing with AHS (is he confirmed?) would be even worse than JYB's lol. Idk, maybe they might change the tone of the drama (yikes)? Make the FL quirky or sth, then maybe ghj might fit.

same =X AHS is rly bad in romance genres. Also the original TW script was written specifically for the FL, Alice Ke. I can't think of any K-actresses that fit her acting style (not just looks). Not a fan of JYB. The original was so good Idk how they are gonna make it fresh. Remakes rarely hit the mark.
