Instead of thinking we are picky, I say we petition for guys to live up to our expectations a tiny bit more. WTH,…
Love it!!
Raising your standards just means you end up with a better man! I'm a dyed-in-the-wool romantic, but maybe that's how I found a wonderful fiance who makes me happy and treats me like gold. You just need the patience and self-respect.
Sasahara Rui has to be one of the most annoying characters I've ever seen. As much as I love this drama, I spent…
It's pretty true. Even if should would have just lightened up at some point! This drama was fun and literally jazzy, but she really brought the mood down.
I never finished GTO, but I was definitely impressed enough by Mariya that when I saw she was going to play Shiraishi in Yamada-kun, I was excited to see her in something else. She did not disappoint, and was absolutely my favorite part about Yamada-kun!!!
I have a very tight group of friends of over 10 years, and we're all growing up and feeling the pains, so this show made me cry very hard several times. So good.
I'm so glad you included Fushigi Yugi, and with such enthusiasm! I'd been starting to feel like that most wonderful anime had been forgotten. What a fabulous live action it would be! I'd be nervous about bad CGI magic elements, though...
Good picks! Zatoichi is a classic. I've never seen Wakadaisho, but I'll put it on my list. I've also never seen Roshomon, despite both me and my boyfriend being huge Mifune fans (I swear the man played a part in bringing us together!).
Great article! You illustrate some really profound life lessons. It's real life that really matters, so drama can be more than just an escape, like any good story. Love it.
And number 4 resonated the most with me at this point in my life (and not just because of Geun Suk's picture!). I'm working on no longer trying to hide my nerdiness. It's just who I am! And I AM proud!
I think the age difference in Dating Agency: Cyrano is part of what makes the chemistry work (though this might be because I'm in an age difference relationship myself and I therefore feel compelled to root for them).
The gap in their ages makes it less predictable that they would fall in love, and therefore it seems truer. Especially on Min Young's side. Out of a room that includes Moo Jin and Master, she really chooses Seo Il Rok? It must mean she just loves him because he's him!
Then, in drama as well as in real life, the age difference eventually doesn't matter any more and you forget it even exists.

So impatient to see this movie... when, oh when, do I get to watch it!? The Kyoto arc is no-question-at-all my favorite anime/manga ever.
Rurouni Kenshin satisfies fans of the anime/manga (like me!) as well as anyone who just loves samurai flicks. It's pretty much perfect!
There are lots of Zatoichi movies. There's also a girl version called Ichi that is really worth checking out.
Also, Ran probably reminded you of King Lear because that's what it's based on! Can't go wrong with Shakespeare.
Thanks for this article! It's time these movies got the lime light.

why does no one ever leave a voicemail!?!?
drives me nuts... but I guess if these characters were better at communication, there wouldn't be any drama.
