IIUC, Xue Fang Fei gave the “pregnancy” drug to Wan Ning because XFF was being forced to marry Shen Yu Rong…
I could see why XFF's actions could diminish her character, but for me personally, it did not. I think the sum of XFF's actions make her overall character. Throughout the story I never felt she was an evil person nor did I feel she was a saint. I think she struggled between right and wrong. Her uncle had to make her realize she can't just value people from her town, she almost stabbed the magistrate to death (she even targeted his "crown jewels"), and she was tempted and almost put an arrow through SYR at the imperial banquet.

She tried to get WN "pregnant" to hold SYR and WN to account. I don't think it was her intention to get the physician killed and getting WN "pregnant" doesn't necessarily mean a physician will be killed. Though she created the conditions that would have made it more likely, it was not inevitable and not her intention. I think her smile was intended for WN's situation and not because a physician was killed. WN killed the physician without a second thought. She wanted to kill XFF, Duke Su, and others she didn't like, without a thought. She punished SYR and her husband needlessly.

As for Jiang Li's stepmom, she wanted JL in a convent so her daughter could be the legitimate Jiang family daughter. She had no intention of killing Jiang Li and was even shocked to find out she was abused and killed by the convent headmistress. It shocked her so much she went crazy. She was an evil, scheming person, but I think she never thought Jiang Li would actually die as a result of her actions. I think it was the same for XFF. Her goal was to hold WN and SYR to account and the physician's death was an unintended consequence and at the hands of WN. WN didn't have to kill him, but she did anyways. Given WN's character I could see that she could have killed him if she was having a bad day, regardless of whether she was pregnant or not.

Anyways, good discussion. I got a different perspective of XFF and the story which is always a good thing. 😊

I see. I rewatched that scene to make sure I understood what you were saying. It could have been my understanding of the translation since I don’t speak mandarin. The English subtitles indicate Duke Su said, “The Eldest Princess secretly got rid of the imperial physician.” XFF could infer that getting rid of the physician meant killing him. Her smile due to her plan working, was in spite of the physician being killed. I missed that detail, likely because I was so focused on the interaction between Duke Su and XFF.
Yes, from the perspective of the physician and his family, and the situation that led to their deaths, their revenge against XFF and WN would be justified.
Would I want to watch it? Sure, if the storyline, characters, actors/actresses, OST, production, director, etc. were good! 😊

So When she tricks the Princess into thing she was pregnant, the princess kills the diagnosing physician and his…
IIUC, Xue Fang Fei gave the “pregnancy” drug to Wan Ning because XFF was being forced to marry Shen Yu Rong and Shen Yu Rong didn’t want to publicly confess that he soiled XFF’s reputation and “killed” her because of his relationship with WN. The “pregnancy” drug was to force SYR and WN to get married (instead of SYR marrying XFF) since SYR and WN were in a sexual relationship, hence SYR had to be the father.

XFF tried the “pregnancy” drug on herself first, so she could understand what the effect would be like on WN. XFF could not foresee what WN would do as a result, i.e., killing the physician and his family. Those were WN’s actions not XFF’s.

XFF was not laughing at what happened to WN and what WN did to the physician. She was laughing because Duke Su diagnosed her (XFF) as being pregnant and he was shocked/upset and demanded to know who the father was. XFF laughed because Duke Su was obviously jealous and couldn’t believe XFF got pregnant while being closely monitored by his subordinates. I don’t think she ever laughed about people being killed. It was WN that had no care for people’s lives other than her own, SYR, and her brother.

I have not seen the short film for Yanxi Palace, but I did watch the long drama with many episodes. I’ll have to see the short film, is it different from the drama or is it a condensed version of the drama? I wanted WYL and FFH to get together in Yanxi Palace, but I also wanted WYL to get together with Emperor QL, so Royal Feast was nice to have “WYL” and “FFH” paired up!

Wang Xingyue has a deep, commanding, and resonant voice, with natural, expressive, and poignant line delivery.…
love, love, love his voice. i wish i can understand mandarin to really get the voice delivery. his expressions help convey the meaning when i read the subtitles, but it's not the same. here are YouTubes of him doing the voice dubbing...that voice 🫠🥰

in my opinion princess wanning didn’t die that easily it was cruel in its own way. In the end she truly realizes…
yes, i agree that princess wan ning got what she deserved...and then some..., realizing that even her brother sold her out (SYR didn't tell her the truth about the real plan). she died alone and by the hands of the one she loved the most. very sad...

i think the jiang family got what they deserved as well. though the stepmom went crazy, she went crazy realizing that she did those horrible things, not just to Jiang Li, but many others and that she is a horrible person. she couldn't deal with that so went crazy. also, i thought they had her stay in the mausoleum instead of a nice house and courtyard? i thought the deal with Consort Li was that Ji Shuran could stay there if Consort Li agreed to not push for the marriage between SYR and XFF? and that the deal fell through when she didn't agree so XFF needed to find another tactic to convince her, i.e., Duke Su capturing the maid Wan Ning was using to threaten Consort Li.
the dad was overridden with guilt knowing he caused the death of his real daughter and he needs to live with that knowledge for the rest of his life.
XFF as Jiang Li, got rid of the stigma of fratricide, got Jiang Li publicly acknowledged as part of the Jiang family in the coming of age ceremony, and became the most famous daughter of the Jiang family.
I don't think XFF ever got her name cleared of her soiled reputation in the drama, but the Emperor did command Duke Su to investigate and I'm sure he would have cleared her name at some point.

I’m enjoying this and on episode 24. Zhan Ji calls out to Zi Jin “A’Li” for the first time!! Zhan Ji is so cute acting all jealous, but still so sweet towards Zi Jin! I haven’t read the reviews but am so far puzzled as to why the ratings are low for this drama…

Title Delicacies Destiny Spoiler
It was a light drama, nothing serious and tons of eating lol, an okay choice to watch in between other dramas.…
i saw it on dailymotion and they had combined "ep17" with ep16. i didn't know there was an alternate ending until i did some research on it. from watching them combined, i interpreted it as the old Emperor Kui imagining what had transpired from reading a book (which i assumed he had written about what could have happened if Xiao Xiao actually didn't choose him). but maybe that is because i can't read what's written on that book he closed. Zhu Shou Kui kicking the two guys from the restaurant seemed too outrageous to be real.

i did enjoy WXY portraying a character different from Duke Su. there were moments when he was serious and i saw him instantly turned into Duke Su'. 😂
