The cinematography of the scenes shown to us is a historical callback to the narrative of western celebrities helping the poor, helpless, and impoverished black people. Volunteering itself is not the problem -- but the way it was shown to us in this drama, IS racist, whether they meant it or not.
Dude, that's not the stance you should take. You should strive to inform and educate people on why something is racist if they don't understand it. If you demonize them by calling them racist you'll just alienate them further.
Y'all, there's nothing wrong with pointing out that the Africa scenes were racist. South Korea is a pretty insular country so it's not surprising they would (likely accidentally) portray these scenes in a racist way. Is it problematic? Yes. Does it need to change? Yes. Will it take a long time? Also yes.
You can still like this drama while acknowledging that there are problems in it. It doesn't make you a racist -- it's just a "problematic fave" ;)
Does anyone know if the low piano BGM (not OST with vocals) played during sad scenes is available anywhere? I was told that instrumental BGMs are usually included in the full OST after the drama ends, but I was hoping I could find it earlier lol 😅😅😅😅 it's such a beautiful, haunting piece
Y'all, does this more or less follow the webtoon? Which chapter does episode 6 leave off? The waiting is killing me, I NEED to find out what happens next ;-;
