SML is ML’s half-brother through their father (different mother’s). Technically, if FL’s mother and ML’s father were to get married, that would also make SML FL’s stepbrother as well but they don’t end up getting married in the novel and I don’t think that will change in the drama so there’s really no worry there.

So really, dad has been with at least three women but with the way he seems to move I wouldn’t be surprised if there were more 😅

her mother putting conditions on the other half of that money that was rightfully zhou wan’s to begin with is vile. such a selfish, vindictive woman. i don’t know how it is in the novel but part of me hopes she doesn’t get forgiven in the end. she doesn’t deserve it.

i’m enjoying it so far but you can definitely tell it’s going to be an angst-fest until the end, for sure.

paused this at ep 18 to let more episodes build up as the one episode a day was getting to me and now i’m having a hard time finding the motivation to pick it back up, despite how much i was loving this to begin with.

i fully understand that this whole drama is meant to be about chu zhao and i love that but for someone like me who was watching this for zhou yiran, it’s really feeling like a’jiu has become more of a pretty accessory for chu zhao rather than his own character as a ML. he just hasn’t been fleshed out properly like it feels as though the three other side characters have better characterization than him.

still undecided if i’ll actually resume watching or just drop at this point as i’m also trying to watch a few other dramas with this one but they definitely should have given this more episodes overall to let the story develop properly. it would have been much more enjoyable that way.
