you qin who was destined to die in order to save the world, resorting to removing his emotions so he won’t be overwhelmed with his fear
ye tan who was abused and abandoned since she was a child, relying on pure survival instincts and ambition to stay alive
chao feng who had to grow up as the black sheep/underdog of the family, learning to scheme and manipulate others
qing kui who was essentially trained to be the empryean consort only to later become a widow, never knowing what it’s like to experience freedom
they say opposites attract but actually similarities are also important. inside all of them are just lonely souls wanting to be loved and i think that’s why i believe they fit well as couples.
anyways lets take a moment to appreciate qing kui, people always treat kindhearted and gentle trait as “weak” (especialy with female characters) but i see it as a form of strength. from protecting her sister and even the third prince to challenging the first prince, beating him with just her knowledge. she’s smart, loyal and brave. we all need someone like her in our life.
i for one am loving the comedic relief the drama is giving us so far, there’s still 34 episodes so i’m going to enjoy it while it lasts because there’s still a long road of pain and suffering ahead of us 🫠
no but i love the sisters' relationship so much it's easy for ye tan to become resentful towards qing kui because of their shitty father's mistreatment and favouritism but the fact they love, care and protect each other with every fibre of their being is so heartwarming
enjoying this so far at ep 8! the mysteries, humour, friendship/dynamic between the leads and slow burn romance. not bored and it's just enough to keep me invested which is a great sign. the aesthetic is quite nice too. it's not often you see characters with their profession so it's refreshing and different.
i think everyone's being a bit too harsh on the fl. sure she may have been a bit prickly but people tend to make bad judgement calls sometimes and that's okay! we're human! and she even admit she was wrong so i don't think that makes her the most terrible person in the whole world.
he definitely got his revenge in ep 3 LOL looking forward to more of their interactions. their chemistry is really good. love the scene where they were drinking and how they pushed aside their animosity for a bit. it felt genuine and honest.
anyways it's fun and entertaining so far! the 1 subbed episode a day is killing me though.
