Title Sweet Munchies Spoiler
This is the last episode for me, I really liked the leads at first but as the episodes go by I find them increasingly annoying
Jin sung behaved like a jerk in ep.8 and his lies are getting more aggravating. I hoped that the confrontation with his younger brother would be more drawn-out and realistic. Instead we have Jin Woo getting mad at the end of ep.7 only to turn around an ep later and say its ok because he did it for their father (which is a huge lie!) and all is good… just in time to get the brother closer to Tae Wan.
What is, for me, one of the worst tropes in dramaland SL spends the entire drama falling in love/pinning for the lead only to end up with the lead's brother / sister / best friend. It’s such a cop out. Taking the most well-rounded and engaging character in the drama and shoving him alongside the most under developed one is downright frustrating. I would be more on board if at least they had developed the character more, but the only thing we know about him is that he is Jin Sung's brother and that he is gay. Introducing a possible love line this late in the drama feels really forced for the sake of the story, but at least it gives Tae Wan the (ham-fisted) chance at a happy ending.
End of rant

Hi! I read your review on Cunning Single Lady and I had to send a friend request! I’m relatively new in dramaland and in this site but what I like is the amount of people who are willing to share their passion for dramas in a thoughtful, fun, earnest way… as for miself, I always ready for a good rom-com, although sometimes give in to my melodrama streak… :)

there are only a few dramas that I felt this bad about the second lead. I really wish she gets a happy ending,…
I agree about YJ, she obviously has a very sad past, but that doesn’t excuses herself for the things she´s doing now. I think she never really mourn her late husband, in one of the first ep she meets JW only short after her accident and she didn't even saw JW but her dead husband face!, and from that day on she became JW “protector” and did everything in her power for make his company successful. Through this day she continues having nightmares about the accident and saying to his father that she´s going to protect JW no matter what… she keeps projecting her feelings for her late husband in JW…. That’s not love… she needs to get over her own past… although I do not see that's going to happen anytime soon… she´s in complete denial about everything concern her dead husband (she blames her father for the accident when she was in the car with her husband driving like crazy … in a highway… while kissing each other… and yelling to the others cars…ugh) and even worse in JW case…I think she is, somewhat, aware JW is in love with AR, that’s why she chose to let everyone (including AR) believes she dating JW (instead of trying to win him over) as a way keep ignoring what is really wrong with herself…like you said that’s not love.:)

Title Cunning Single Lady Spoiler
LOL…JW jealousy is a wonderful thing to watch and proves to us that he still loves AR, just he isn't aware of it yet. And he's scared of her being taken away so he's playing tricks. Now he just needs to admit it to himself and show Ae Ra that he still cares for her and that he wants her back, in a sincere and honest way, and fight for her. At least for now, he slowly begins to see the real AR, the feisty, caring, wonderful woman she really is. Up to now, we have seen AR slowly turn around and see her past mistakes until she finally apologized to JW, she even admit that when she first came by she had in mind to woo him but after that no, that she really wanted to work hard and do her job well and even so she going to resign after the internship is over. She was able to dwell on her emotions, get back on her feet and move on, this is, despite the fact she still have feelings for him. Meanwhile, JW is in a point where he is unable to see past his own hurt and still is too proud to admit that he has starting to fall for her again despite the pain she caused him. But i like the confrontation between AR mom and JW because JW needs to hear the truth (about the debt AR paid and that her useless bro took the money from her given by JW all this time) and start to act upon it... What I want to see though is for him to acknowledge AR struggles (paying their debts, the insults of her in law; the coworkers bullying her…); he also has to stop his mother and sister to meddle in his personal life and business, and make some boundaries regarding YJ. JW should take care of those problems if he wants to start a relationship with AR.

Title Cunning Single Lady Spoiler
After I watch the last two episodes I think the drama has shown us a little more about AR and why things deteriorated that fast in the last part of their marriage… while JW was busy developing his company, AR was working to maintain them both and only seek divorce after she suffer a miscarriage…for a woman who was just looking to be a housewife and mother, having to work countless jobs for 4 years because her husband quit his job in order to pursue HIS dream and then the last dream she could achieve in their current situation was to have a baby and once she lost that, it was all over for her. IF she knew she was pregnant before the miscarriage happened that explains why she was so hard to JW (taking his food away from him and locked him out), she was probably scared about the future…her husband was not making any progress after 4 years and she was the solely money maker in their marriage and despite she was working tirelessly, they barely have enough to pay the rent…the lack of stability and the uncertainty of Jw position made her fear for the worst (she saw in him the same way as her father and brother), the amount of stress and fear made her lash out against JW. I´m not saying that I agree whit the way AR behave but in her situation is understandable. Again, I agree whit was the lack of proper communication the mayor problem whit them both, then and now, but if they continue having the same interactions like whit the rooftop scene, I believe their relation is going to improve this time around.

I just think that many viewers are rather harsh on AR. We’re watching JW as the only victim in his marriage — and thus are automatically sympathetic towards him. However, I just want to bring attention to AR’s point of view — JW, DIDN’T actually witness or know what AR went through, before and after the divorce. But we’ve had the chance to see why that security is so important to her – wastrel father and brother, growing up watching her mother working 24/7 for this useless men – that her wish for some small-scale financial security does not seem unreasonable. And Jung-woo doesn’t help his own case any by making a major financial decision (quitting his job) barely 3 months into their married life, without telling her first. In her eyes, he basically behaved just like her brother and dad. Sure, she could have been nicer, but she did have every right to feel angry. Does the guy really have no guilt whatsoever that he made his wife suffer with no gas and without the ability to pay the rent??? His deliberate ignoring of the reality of their marriage is what annoys me the most; marriage is about to people getting together, so in fact both of them were responsible for the marriage falling apart.

Jung woo: don’t want to be harsh with him but there are some things that really bother me about him: In the flashbacks he is this cute, naïve dork but at the same time he come across as a giant self centered man-child, first leaving his job without consulting his wife and then expects she support him unconditionally! He was so focused on the new company and wasn’t thinking about the toll it was taking on his wife. He really expects that she weather through everything just because she married him? The problem is he never truly understood her and why acts like she does.

Ae Ra: is my favorite character, she is very flawed but very lovable. This is a case where the synopsis can be misleading. She is presented as a gold-digger when in fact she was pretty upfront about wanting nothing more than a house and kids and security. Jung woo knew this when unilaterally decided to quit his job and pursue his dream without consulting his wife and coming up with a plan together for the timing. This forced AR to be the only money maker in the family for four years, and it took her another 3 years after the divorce to pay off all the debt. JW was making no money at all during that time. And furthermore her revenge is because of her pride (wanting to hear sorry and thank you), and NOT greed. She simply wanted recognition from him that she was the part and had a part that made him what he is today.

I just watch ep 7 and...ugh...i just want to put the four leads in a corner to think about what they did! between YK little scheme, SJ ambush to MR into acepting his feellings, KS hot tempered and MR inability to express her true feelings and stop playing whit both guys...not get me wrong, i'm still onboard KS-MR ship...yes it was their first big argument, but if they can learn to work towards a better undestanding of each other, that's going to help them become not only more centered persons, but also a more realistic couple
On Marry Him If You Dare Nov 2, 2013
I’m the only one NOT shipping MR-SJ?! is clear she doesn’t like him back and only see him more as a good friend, in return MR-KS are the real deal, they are falling in love through spending time together, sharing their fears and dreams, with nary an ulterior motive or hidden agenda, they have the most honest relationship thus far. Meanwhile SJ only have a partial vision about who Mirae really is, he loves the image he created about her on his head “pure, strong, naive”. Mirae was just always attracted to Shin from the heart whereas she was trying to kindle a love by force with SJ, that too rather halfheartedly. KS is not perfect, but is capable of change when he is faced with tough choices, MR met the bad side of him and is seeing him slowly change to a better person. That’s a OTP!
