It's been months since the series ended, but it still has an effect on me. Amidst so many meaningless scenarios, such meaningful works are like treasures. Your article is great, you have explained the writer's purpose very welI. I think the script of the drama is very well written. It's also pretty minimalist. The acting was so natural that they almost lived their roles. Lee Do Hyun said in an interview that he wasn't very prepared for the role, and when he got together with Go Min Si, he got into the role naturally. In the series, they made us believe in the love of the couple so much that we all started to fear the sad ending as if we were afraid of death. And when the final episode came, we were all devastated. My eyes still fill with tears when I think of it. We experienced firsthand what happened in Gwangju. The series made both love and pain live to the limit. I'm glad I followed this meaningful drama up to date. If I hadn't watched it, I would never have dared to watch it after I learned the finale.
I would love to see more series like this! It's not a drama that will appeal to everyone, that I can recommend to anyone, it is aimed at introverted people. This drama might bore regular kdrama viewers. But if you discover the beauty of the drama by connecting with the characters, you can have incredible pleasure. It is the story of lonely and elegant souls who love classical music, try to solve their problems on their own, and connect to life by discovering love. I believe it will be very good for people who value details and love art.
In order to love this drama, you have to be like the characters in the drama. Otherwise, it may be difficult for you to bond with the characters. If you are a person who is looking for a meaning in life, who is trying to heal your wounds, you will love this drama. You will also fall in love with the use of music, visuals and cinematography. An ode to rain! It's not a movie that will appeal to everyone, that I can recommend to anyone, it is aimed at introverted people. An awesome list. These series are like a blanket you drape over your knee on a winter day or a cup of hot coffee on a rainy day. Only OSN left from the list. I will watch it as soon as possible. When the Weather is Fine, Dear My Friends, Live, The Package are also TV shows with a similar concept.
Mr Queen was nice but I don't think it's enough to be 2nd. Acting was pretty good. The best drama of this year in every way is Move to Heaven. Emotion transfer, visuality, criticism, details in the scenario. They're all great. Navillera was also a very meaningful and very different production. Run On was also beautifully and sincerely written. But when it comes to Youth of May, I can't be neutral. I can't say the script is great in every way, but it's still a 10/10 drama for me. The fact that the subject of the drama is based on real events made the audience experience romance, mystery and pain in the deepest way. I think this was the most impressive series of the year. And what? True Beauty and Doom? I wonder what makes these series so great. They don't deserve their place.
“After you died I couldn't hold a funeral, So these eyes that once beheld you became a shrine. These ears that once heard your voice became a shrine. These lungs that once inhaled your breath became a shrine. And so my life became a funeral.”
Yup that "look back" scene. Writer Lee Kang even selected it as one of his favourite scenes because he was so…
Exactly. The actors in the series were integrated with their roles. The director said in an interview that Do Hyun understands Hee Tae even better than the scriptwriter. And I'm looking forward to hearing that the two are a couple. :))

I think both Lee Do Hyun and Go Min Si gave their all for these roles. They were so integrated into their roles that their energy reached the audience through the screen. Both are my favorite actors right now. I hope we will watch them as lovers in a quality production again. :) By the way, do we have a chance to see other scenes like in the post I shared? I became more curious about the script and the way the actors interpreted the roles in their own way.
I started to wonder about the full version of the script. "comparative post of youth of may’s script and lee dohyun and go minsi’s delivery/improvisation"
Also the background melodies. I mean the 31 instrumental songs and these 10 songs with their instrumental version…
Exactly! All the music playing in the background is meticulously prepared. We also heard compositions from Chopin and Mozart in some scenes. I also discovered the songs Annie's Song and The Rose thanks to this drama.
The drama is over, yes, but my sadness does not go away. I want to cry whenever I see pictures of them happy. I've been watching kdramas for 10 years, this is the first time something like this has happened to me. I listen to the OST of drama and cry once again when I see how compatible they are with the drama and characters. Winter of May, Words I Want To Say To You, Days in Memory... All of the songs are meticulously prepared. These three songs fit the mood of the drama very well. Even learning the meaning of "Winter of May" is enough to predict the sad ending.
I can't forget the scene where MYung Hee died. She was breathing, she could see the stars. On the cold ground, all alone... She breathed her last. There are so many people in the world who are experiencing this even now. The screenwriter wanted to make us feel this pain deeply.
I think of the happy times MH and HT spent together. My heart is breaking. I feel as if I was there with them, experiencing the same things.
