Hey, there is no time skip. She confess her feelings but he doesn't react either way and just treats her like always. End of school year, he is moving to US for studies and they left it as her first love
love the ending!! i was bit scared they would go the usual route with a time skip but thank goodness the writer keeps challenging my kdrama brain. Theme of the drama was consistent throughout. Respect.
first scene it's mentioned he was already in prison for killing his sis-in-law. in 2019 DNA tests revealed him…
none of my comment was probability except if Jiwon already knew about 94 arrest. I understand after 12 eps we might miss small moments from early eps but all the above was included in the drama and I cite the episodes. Only unexplained thing is name change but considering they kept the killer identity suspense for 50% of drama we can guess why they included a name change. Also, this is first drama to cover the Hwaseong murders after the killer was found i n 2019. I feel the writers did a great job by heavily focusing on the victims of crime and victims of faulty investigation.
What was the real reason why Sunyoung chose a new family. Not just to protect the child that she mentioned.Cause…
Exactly. I was shocked that she never once tried to get in contact with him for 30 years. And then shows up for her own selfish reasons. It showed how that evil family turns even good hearted people into selfish. She justified its because she was hospitalised and the child was attached to Si Yeong for one year but babies won't even remember such early age for long time.

He was in prison since 1994. He cut contact with both Taeju and Jiwon in 1988 around the trial when the innocent guy was convicted. In ep 9, he was in the courtroom and meets Jiwon. He mentions he moved to his wife's town and he doesn't ever want to see Taeju (Jiwon thinks its because of Gibeom's death). Taeju cut contact with everyone after his sister's accident and moved away. So the trio lost contact with each other since 1989. In 1994, he was arrested for murdering his wife's sister (this happens offscreen and officer Lee mentions to Taeju in ep1 first scene that he was in prison all along and would have been released on parole if they were bit late. Probably Jiwon being journalist could have known about the 94 arrest but that's never explained). He was never a serious suspect for the scarecrow murders and didn't confess voluntarily. Only in 2019, DNA tests matched him for 3 cases and Taeju is brought in to get confession for other cases which had no physical evidence. This is before news breaks to media and Jiwon knows the identity of killer when the public hears in ep 11.
can anyone who knows the real life case tell me how accurate was the ending of this drama?
The serial killer is still in prison for different crime but unfortunately as statue of limitations expired, he could not be tried for any of these cases. As for the wrongfully convicted person, he was found innocent during retrial. The police did not challenge the confession during the retrial and Prosecutors office accepted it was illegal detention, coerced confession and even the forensic report was falsified. the officers were charge sheeted but don't know how it proceeded further.
When was Lee Gi Hwan arrested and why his name is Lee Yong Woo? They never showed it, because he only confessed…
first scene it's mentioned he was already in prison for killing his sis-in-law. in 2019 DNA tests revealed him as perpetrator in some cases and Taeju steps in to get confession for other cases. He must have been in prison since 1990s (since they retained most facts and victim profiles similar to Hwaseong serial murders). I don't remember anything mentioned about name change but probably for suspense effect
i don't know if its unexplored plotline or red herring or script cut short to fit 12 eps. The whole Yi An's mother's accident and the expert guy claiming its not accident just left there without going further. We also got to know nothing about PM Min's relation with his father or anything other than his obsession with Huiju.
