I think this is what people in law call "ne bis in idem"/"double jeopardy". It is a legal doctrine that "no legal…
But in retrial the defendant was Lee Dae Chul and Do Chang and Ji Hyuk’s goal was more focused on proving he’s not guilty than proving Oh Jong Tae is the real culprit. Do Chang and Ji Hyuk didn't have solid evidence back then to charge Oh Jong Tae with murder so how was he acquitted when he didn’t even stand in court as defendant? Did I miss something?
And money isn’t something that Oh Jong Tae can’t pay so if he's found guilty and doesn’t get jail time and only gets to pay money is so stupid. I mean he killed someone and someone else got executed...I never knew this law existed but now that I do I just think it doesn’t make sense. Accusing someone innocent and them getting executed is something that happened/happens/will happen in the real world so I just think it’s not fair at all.
Btw, thank you so much for explaining this to me :)
WTH?! If a retrial is held and someone is found guilty but later on it’s revealed he/she is innocent and the real murderer confesses, the murderer WON’T GET PUNISHED?! That doesn’t even make sense! Is there really such a law?!
And Seo Kyung really needs to let go of this mindset that my boss is not really a bad person...like girl he’s a murderer just accept it. I don’t really get why she was upset with Ji Hyuk and Do Chang for getting a warrant when she clearly knows what her boss has done. Good thing Ji Hyuk tried to knock some sense into her at the restaurant.
im only on ep 10, but for this one thing i'm ok with spoilers; does kang not know yet? i understand ji huk's perspective…
Omg that was so cute and at that time I didn’t expect romance since it’s a crime drama but that scene sparked a hope in me...that they’ll become more than just a cop and a reporter.

Yeah he would be so disappointed:(
The biggest reason is probably Ji Hyuk liking her so much (which is weird since he hates other people who did something to cover up the truth) but I also think the same as you...she saved their jobs which is what led them to finding out there’s even more hiding in the murder cases but if they lost their jobs only Oh Jong Tae would’ve gotten punished and the rest would’ve gotten away with it and maybe with that thought in mind the writers wrapped it up like that but as you said it’s something the viewers will wrestle with if not addressed (which is what’s happening to us right now) because when I think that this was the reason I still can’t accept it since someone died. But if Do Chang finds out he’ll probably forgive her just like how he forgave others since she’s helping them now.
I cried my eyes out when he died because I didn’t expect it and I just thought about what if something like this happened to my close ones and that made me think how Eun hye and Lee Dae Chul felt wronged and that just made what Seo Kyung did even more unacceptable for me.
I wonder the same...will she be able to look Eun hye in the eyes?
And it’s okay I love having these talks with other people on MDL and mine is long as well :D

You’re welcome :) yep at first everything was confusing but they got revealed one by one which is what makes the drama more interesting and I live for the bromance between Ji Hyuk and Do Chang xD
They used to work at different stations back in 2015 (Do Chang was working at Incheon Station while Ji Hyuk was…
You’re a smart one. On ep1 I was like what do you mean know each other? And I thought something happened that made them dislike each other. In another episode there was a flashback to Yoon Ji Sun’s murder scene and they were there together and I was like wait, they both worked at the same station? It took me a while to understand they worked at different stations but met each other on the murder scenes
im only on ep 10, but for this one thing i'm ok with spoilers; does kang not know yet? i understand ji huk's perspective…
No he doesn’t and he probably will never know. I won’t spoil more than this since something surprising will happen in ep11 and you’ll know why Ji Hyuk kept it from Do Chang.
As I continued to watch the episodes I started to go easier on her too but at the same time there’s this voice at the back of my head that keeps on reminding me about what she did and that’s why I’m surprised at how Ji Hyuk kept it a secret considering his personality. If she told him about the USB from the start he would’ve definitely used it as an evidence without caring about going against the police and the prosecution or losing his job. They’re trying to reveal other people’s corruption...Wasn’t what she did corrupted too? And you’re absolutely right...she should also apologize and not just keep what she did a secret.
Because of what she did I always feel guilty for finding her and Ji Hyuk cute but I can’t help it:(
Two days ago I was talking to my friend about how YG wasted Jisoo’s talent in acting but then I hear this....My prayers have been heard. So happy for my girl. I actually wasn’t going to watch this when I heard Hye Yoon is the lead role since I’m not a big fan of her (no hate to her it’s just personal preference) but now I’m definitely watching it
Aww...Ji Hyuk’s smile when Do Chang mentioned something going on between him and Seo Kyung. But honestly I’m still a little surprised at how Ji Hyuk easily forgot about what Seo Kyung did. Also I like how this drama isn’t only focusing on catching Oh Jong Tae. Each episode, more people are revealed to be involved in the cases and that shows how rotten people can be.
it seemed like such a real scene real people would tease each other about lol
Ikr! And we don’t get embarrassed Ji Hyuk a lot since he’s always relaxed but this...and it happened right after he confessed lol. He looked so cute I wish it happened more xD
Yes, it was a little OTT. At the hospital the doctor said he had lost a lot of blood, but he would be fine, so…
Yes but from what we’ve seen it looks like Yoo Jung Seok has something to do with Jang Jin Soo’s death (maybe he was the one who killed him) and if he did kill him then he’s going to jail for it and once that happens the Minister of Justice won’t support Oh Jong Tae anymore since it’s obvious he dislikes him (to me it looks like he’s only supporting him because of his brother) and when Oh Jong Tae is left with no one to support him aside from all the other charges Ji Hyuk will also charge him for stabbing him and Ji Hyuk will win since it was self defense. Another theory is that it might also be because he is more focused on collecting evidences to catch Oh Jong Tae, right now he can’t be bothered with being investigated and having to prove he’s innocent and it was for self defense but once they arrest Oh Jong Tae, Ji Hyuk will charge him for stabbing him too and he can easily prove how Oh Jong Tae had a motive to kill him. But since there’s only 4 episodes left maybe the writer will just leave it as two cousins fighting without wanting to get the police involved and make everything more complicated.
I laughed too much at the part Dong Wook embarrassed Ji Hyuk in front of Seo Kyung in the hospital. It’s really refreshing that this drama has some comedy scenes between all those intense and crime scenes. Can’t believe this will be over in two weeks. I already feel depressed when I think about it. It’s definitely one of my all-time favorite kdramas.

Yeah maybe there was something. I’m also wondering why Oh Ji Hyuk didn’t sue him. I know he stabbed him too but he’s a detective and it was self defense. He was even looking for self defenses cases so I’m thinking maybe he’s planning to charge Oh Jong Tae with the crime of stabbing a detective in attempt to murder him so they’ll have even stronger reasons and evidences to arrest him

Same here. And I was also thinking why did he leave the scene and stopped somewhere else and called an ambulance when he could’ve just asked for two at the scene. And honestly with the way he got stabbed I thought he would lose a kidney or go into a coma from losing so much blood but then they said it’s not life threatening...if only it was like that in real life.
I don't know if I missed it, but the flashbacks are confusing me. Oh Jihyuk transferred to their station in 2020,…
They used to work at different stations back in 2015 (Do Chang was working at Incheon Station while Ji Hyuk was working at Seoul Regional Unit) but they met each other when they were investigating Yoon Ji Sun and Jang Jin Soo’s murder cases which is why in ep1 their team leader said “you know each other right?” when he was introducing them to each other
I keep telling on myself not to focus too much on the romance side but I can't help it. Haha! LE and JSJ's chemistry…
I really hope it won’t be something like after everything is solved and we get the happy ending we deserve Ji Hyuk only asks her on a date (which Jtbc obviously won’t show their date) or just asks her to get a cup of coffee together since I’ve seen that happen a few times in crime dramas. If Jtbc wastes their chemistry then I just hope they get cast in a romance drama
