Hong Xiao and Yang Ze were the main couple in Blade's Dance With You (2024) I enjoyed Yang Ze in Please Remember Me (2024) and the Demon (2025) but they weren't as loved as The Killer is Also Romantic (2022) I've seen White Cat Legend (2024) and Rising With the Wind (2023) but don't remember Hong Xiao's role in them.

The Emperor wants the Crown Prince who went into hiding killed. He was reported to be in the Xue Mansion. So the top assassin is sent to find him and kill him. If necessary she will kill everyone in the Family. She is married to the head of the Xue Family but before the ceremony can be held, the Father falls ill and is in a coma. The assassin had earlier moved next door as a merchant but the son saw through her and suspects her. Now it became a battle of cat and dog between the two. At the same time a rival assassin entered with the mission to kidnap the Crown Prince. The drama is like an old time cartoon like Wiley Coyote and the Roadrunner. But both are more evenly matched and the eventual romance between the son and stepmother is hinted at.

Possibly if you think reverence and having the hots for may not go well together. But I agree with your sentiment.

The present day Lin Yan dreamed the story but as the original Lin Yan. So the dream Lin Yan knew nothing about the future. And the Family entered as participants whereas the present Lin Yan just dreamed it as the Tang Dynasty Lin Yan.
The Shen family changed too much of the past for the drama to pass the censors. Introducing different cuisines before their time, new cooking techniques and business ideas. So we saw that after the fire, nothing was changed nor anything remembered.

Happy but with a dollop of sadness just before the end. After marriage in the past, 'brother Li Ang tries to kill them but burns down the Diner. Realizing that it was time to return, Jicai pushes Lin Yan to safety while she disappears to the present. He wakes up to find that the Shen Family never existed. Everyone has forgotten them and he is also slowly losing his memories. of her and them. Where Shen's Diner existed has reverted to the original abandoned manor, but now newly burnt down. Lin Yan searched the burnt area but there were no bodies to prove that she had existed. He spent the rest of his life alone. First building a new Shen's Diner to protect his memory of her and filling a notebook with illustrations from the diner. It was very heart wrenching seeing him suffering alone like that and quite a few viewers were distressed. We saw it from his point of view which made it more sad. But not well shown nor remarked on was that Jicai had re-entered the dream after she left (how else could she write in her journal about his eventual fate after returning to the present?) She experienced his dream but as a bystander. An invisible bystander who watched and experienced his loneliness but could never comfort him. We are not shown the dream to the end from her point of view. That would have diluted the sadness of Lin Yan.

By making it a dream and none save Lin Yan remembering the Shen Family, Then all of the changes to the past that the Shen Family introduced, recipes from different eras, innovative business ideas, could all be hand waved away. Why have the modern Family forget is less clear, but it may to discourage putting too much faith in chasing dreams like time travel. This is aimed at modern people as well as the viewers. imho

Subtitles called her Deyuan. MDL uses A Yuan. I didn't see through Liu Chang's beard.
Why was only Liu Chang's child shown. And the Mother wasn't shown? Not Pei's child, the presumed ancestor?

In Scent of Time, I regret that the ending implied that her maid never got a happy ending.

The appearance of bearded Liu Chang with the child in ep. 32 made me question why the baby appeared. And only that child appeared. I guess his wife would be the rescued 'slave' Deyuan. MDL has her name as A Yuan. I think that that is the genesis of the modern Shen Family.

Some thoughts on the final episode. With the restrictions on time travel and reincarnation dramas.
The new dishes and innovations introduced by Shen's Diner that were copied by the other restaurants meant major changes to the past. So no way could She or her Family stay in the past. Lin Yan's fife after the fire established that Shen Family, their diner and the changes never happened. And no one remembers save Lin Yan. We see Liu Feng showing girl baby to Lin Yan. I think that Lu Feng and Shen Jingwan are the real parents of the Shen ancestor. Grandpa was mistaken or lied again? And the bit where the Mother tells Shaoguang that couldn't go back in the dream to marry an ancestor was to dissuade modern people.
Concerning Lin Yan's ultimate fate. Both shared the years of loneliness after the fire.
Ep. 32 32:42 and 34:42. She writes the rest of Lin Yan's life in her journal, Yong'an Diner. She said that she dreamed that she watched his life after she left him but she watched it as (an invisible) bystander. So in her dream, she knew the rest of his life but couldn't comfort him. We can surmise that she shared the bitterness of his fate for the rest of his life there.
What was written in her journal. From 32:51 "After we left, the dream continued. I was no longer there. Yet I seemed to have watched Lin Yan's entire life as a bystander. He ended up all alone." Then the Mother comes in. Then at 34:42 she reads what she has written and at 35:09 a tear drops on the journal.

The person who brought the new babe to show to Lin Yan was Liu Feng. So that was probably the Shen ancestor. Pei Fei and the Princess stayed together in their 'not' marriage, I suspect Grandpa lied again???

In the last episode, ep. 23, where the two men on camels ride through a sandstorm and reach the same spot as in ep. 1. In ep. 1 Shen Wangchen was with Jiang Li. But in ep. 23 When he meets the white cat, Jiang Li is with his pregnant wife in Aowu Village and another man is riding next to Shen Wangchen. I guess Fan Dayao had been reborn the letter that Shen sent told her to meet him sat the rock Y in the track. She waited for him as a cat. And they will live together in Aowu Village.

Mostly it is the same as MDL. But very occasionally not. I always look as the ki**kh synopsis as well as on MDL. Thank you.
