There’s a reverse harem tag. Are there side characters who have feelings for the FL/ML?
There are three men who chase after Luo Shu. The scholarly Han Muzhi likes her but is constrained by his patron, Governor Liu and his daughter Liu Wan. The evil and creepy Qin Yi has designs on her. The sheltered and blustery Qi Menglin ultimately wins her heart. There is a goodness, a willingness stand up for her, and put her first, that she can at the end say, "Whereever you are, that is where my home is." Muzhi was so good that many viewers didn't like Menglin by comparison.
can someone give me some spoilers-- is there any romance in the drama? if so when do they get together? is it…
Petrarch. The love the main couple have with each other is there but this drama chooses to show it by the brief glances one or the other gives. By what one or the other is willing to do for the other and by what sacrifice they would do for each other. But the main couple don't spend time flirting or chasing each other. They are professionals and the job comes first.
Finished watching the drama. I'll post a review later. All I can say for now is I FREAKING LOVE THIS SHOW!!! I…
Restrained PDA and an ensemble that shared lead time. Some love it and for some it doesn't scratch that itch for an idol drama. Across the court, LotFG did. Same with CD. But that doesn't make this less. imho I like how everyone here got their moment to shine and worked together. Would be interesting is to see a season 2 that doesn't try to repeat the Yesha mystery. Two female constables. And Zhuge getting a female nemesis in his unit that challenges him. He is due for a romance. Someone smarter than him... Or someone to mentor... Or how about someone that smooths his rough edges. Gives him the hero worship that he might crave. She also understands why Li might resent her.
I know. But the drama biz review ends with these words. "With the realm stabilized, He Yan lays down her armor and becomes solely the wife of Xiao Jue assisting him in raising a family. The bunny Cbiz uses almost the same words. That's why I wonder how accurate the info is.
Haven't read the novel, so don't know how He Yan was written. But not all generals are the same. And the qualities…
Started all three but dropped after a while. Distracted by other dramas. I guess that you have a set of expectation for what you thought the drama should be. That's OK.
Thank you. I remember another drama that made up stuff abut the ending. I guess it was a clickbait. Why release the ending so early. So she is going to end up a housewife? What about walking a path with her husband? Is he retiring from the military, too?
Have you watched A Familiar Stranger? Many like that drama very much.
Ke Ying is the FL And Cheng Lei the ML. The director Zeng Qie Jie and screenwriter Zhao Lin combo did The Killer is Also Romantic (2022) and Butterflied Lover (2022) Both favorites with many. The director did Blossom. (2024) The screenwriter did Hard to Find (2024)
I kinda feel the FL is good but not feisty enough, i don’t know how to explain it she’s not as fierce as she…
Haven't read the novel, so don't know how He Yan was written. But not all generals are the same. And the qualities that make soldiers want to follow them, to sacrifice for them, to die for them are not the same for each leader. Not every general must be a blustery George Patton. He Yan's fighting prowess would certainly inspire her soldiers to fight for her. Probably the best general that few know about. Field Marshal William Slim, known as "Uncle Bill", was renowned for his exceptional leadership qualities. He was a soldier's soldier, respected for his courage, determination, and ability to inspire confidence in his troops, particularly during the challenging Burma Campaign of World War II. He was also known for his empathy, strategic thinking, and focus on the well-being of his soldiers. Another that might have He Yan's cocky attitude might be General Terry Allen (Terry de la Mesa Allen Sr.) He commanded the 1st Infantry Division (the Big Red One) and his aide de camp was Theodore "Teddy"Roosevelt Jr. The men were very much alike. Both were aggressive, cared for their men, and had little respect for prim and proper military appearance. They were also both outsiders to the West Point club, as neither of them had graduated from the famous academy.
I swear that is exactly what I am going through I am trying to find a drama that I can binge watch until this…
Check your viewed and to view list. Mini-drama Qinchuan's Veil of Vengeance (2025) with Christy Guo might be good if you like a strong and strategic FL. Dominion and Devotion (2025) Huang Hao Yue FL by the same woman director with a strong ML and an intelligent FL.
I guess that you have a set of expectation for what you thought the drama should be. That's OK.
Here is an interview of Marshall William Slim. He doesn't need to show a fierce persona.

Before he became an actor he was the most decorated US Army soldier in WWII.
The John Huston film is well regarded even in its mutilated form.
