I suspect that Ms Bai was fiercely loyal to the Princess and because the Princess initially didn't like Nanxing and had to settled on her as a sort of Hobson's Choice she kept trying to get her out of the way. That with Nanxing out of the way, Xinbai could marry a proper person. The ending of ep. 38 shines some light on her feelings. It wasn't really about hating Nanxing but serving the Princess.

HE and we get a triple wedding.

Ms Bai will use that information to betray Nanxing so the baddies will know that she shapeshifts (labeled a monster) and the baddies also knows that the ML can't see faces (also losing his senses) (send an assassin pretending to be someone he trusts).

He is thinking of the impossible task ahead and that he might not be able to protect any of those that he loves, especially her. Just my take on that.

Framing Blossom Beauty means both Xinbai and Nanxing have to flee or face execution. He expected that she would flee with him leaving Xinbai to be executed. She could never show her face in the Capital again. Not thinking things through to the end. He wasn't the only player in that game. His main goal was always to take her back. That's why he used Blossom Beauty to conceal some of the drugs.

Bandit kicks the bucket in 36. 3rd marriage may be in front of the ailing Mother. Can't figure what the third separation might be. May be Nanxing is Pei's daughter. With Dean of Imperial Academy Yan Biqing and his father beheaded for their crimes, the way is clear for her to marry the slave, who will probably be promoted, along with Sai'er for helping to take down Pei and his gang.

She is doing most of the expressing of emotions for the two as Xinbai keeps his emotions tamped down tight. I don't mind her voice as her character is so good for me. I think that those involved in making this show and many other shows like this feel that a very girlish kind of voice appeals to a valuable segment of the Chinese audience.

This is after the first divorce. and since they have met again, by 22 feelings for each other have slowly percolated to the surface, though neither will openly admit that the feelings exist to each other. He uses witnessing her face change as an excuse to spend the night together but only sits next to the bed to watch her. She takes the initiative to get him to sleep in the same bed next to her. So both are trying to get closer. And their mutual smiles at the end reveals their feelings, but not to each other.

Suoluo. In ep.36 she can't keep her big fat mouth shut. Telling her Mother about Nanxing's shapeshifting ability while the turncoat Ms Bai secretly listens in. She really can be counted to make own goals for her and her side. Maybe one of the three ship couples may not survive. I don't hate her, she's just written that way.

Who killed the General may become apparent later. I don't think that it was the gang that we thought it was. Not well explained, but part of the investigation was to find out who killed him and that lead to a whole new can of worms. Have you seen the preview for ep. 36?

Have watched up to 34 and seen the previews for 35/36. From 15 there are three ships and they proceed in increments. The main couple goes from strength to strength and trust each other even with a third wheel. But that third wheel wasn't fun to watch. The sister reaches a new understanding with her Brother. I reviewed the next few episodes. In 16, there is a touching scene at the 14 minute mark. In 21 at the 33 mark there was a great scene. It might seem frustrating as obstacles continually fall before the three pairs, but I wanted to see the next episodes and watched 34 without FF. 36 seems to be very interesting as the curse , "May you live in interesting times.". A face blind person would not have the obvious facial expression that you may expect from lovers and both are very insecure about relationships. But there are some scenes, such as just showing just their eyes and you think, "Oh, that's what they were trying to show. " Now that I know where this is leading to, much ground work had been laid.

They are setting up some pretty serious stuff, imho. Seen up to 34 and previews of 35/36.

In ep. 29 Dean of Imperial Academy Yan Biqing is the boss of Yen Wushuang, the owner of the rival Beauty of the City. But Her real purpose is the monitor Nanxing as her group administered refined Zornia to her and she was the only one not to die from its effects. That is tied to the mysterious disappearances mentioned in ep. ?? She captures Nanxing to interrogate her and gives her another dose of the refined Zornia. Nanxing shapeshifts, but she is knocked out by her Mother but before she can be interrogated, Shai'er gives her the Zornia tea which kills her. Nanxing leaves tor Tingzhou to meet Xinbei. Mother is sick and alone by herself, spits blood. Great Witch predicted a third person to get in the way of the main couple and he is the somewhat moral bandit leader Bai Yuan who becomes smitten with her. She gives him a false eye so the eye patch is gone. Apparently he gives her a tooth pendant which she drops during the ambush in ep. 31. They are trying to kill Marshall Yi Yuanshan, of Tingzhou who is in the cage cart. He was connected to the new route to import Zornia to the country. In the preview for ep. 32, Xinbai could see a vision of young Nanxing. He already know who she was but missed the opportunity to tell this to her and the "Are you cold.." in ep. 31 wasn't enough to let her know that he knew.

I think that the new Beauty in the City cosmetic shop owner was the veiled lady who set up the fireworks to frame Xinbai. Nanxing should be thinking why. Ms Bai should be thinking that the enemy of my enemy might also be my enemy.
