Grand Councilor Pei Linfu was the other Minister. His daughter was set up with the blind date and Suoluo talked with him while he was trimming the bonsai plant.

I suspect Grand Councilor Pei Linfu who was standing next to Lu Dingzhao when he killed Li Jun and himself.

He hears her complaining about her fate in ep. 3. She hears him say while drunk that he can't see her face so that he can't trust him, but she had already guessed he couldn't see faces. They won't admit anything for a a few more episodes.

The end of ep. 2 has Rong witnessing Muchen being berated by his Mother for secretly conducting an investigation to clear his Father's name while you can hear the fear in his Mother's voice that he will die trying, leaving her alone. She starts to question what her master had told her that she was working against a corrupt official. After this he suggests that they get divorced where she needs to stay in the Xu family mansion to finish looking for the jade pendant. She counters by saying that to get divorced so quickly will ruin her reputation. He is shown mulling that later. So his feeling towards her start to change in small increments. The same for her as he saves her from a rushing cart and horse and is heard saying that she, as Willow Leaf Thief Liu isn't a killer. In ep. 10 there is a montage of scenes showing Muchen falling love with her. There is a childhood connection where WLT Liu carries a locket that he gave to a girl that saved him during a flood. In ep. 15, when he reveals that he knows that she isn't the real Su Jin Zhen, he says that he doesn't want her to leave. She risks death to try to save him from being executed in ep. 18. In ep. 20 when he tells her that he knows that she is the Willow Leaf Thief Liu, he says that it doesn't matter and that he wants to stay with her.

They become a permanent couple in ep. 22. The story demands that the main couple be at odds with each other to fit the concept of their relationship. It has to be a cat and mouse story. But it is added to the ML's quest to clear his late Father's name. So suspicion, unexpressed feelings, misunderstandings and a third wheel complicate their journey to love. So any period where they are in synch is broken by another complication soon after.. More details with episodes listed in the spoiler post below. Look at your own risk,. Sorry.

They have to meet. fall in love and break up three times. So it is hard for the full blown romance to be written in so early. I think that the side couples will fill in that romance.
