What is really impressive about this drama is the editing. The transitions are so smooth, the montage in the first episode was so much fun to watch. The pacing of the story is really good and the first 2 episodes set up a strong foundation for the rest of the drama.
I felt Joo Eun's relationship with her father. Her upbringing was pretty twisted, her dad tried to protect her by romanticizing what the family does (filming documentaries) and give her some normalcy (encouraging her to study hard, excited about her college acceptance like a normal parent). It makes sense why she wants to take revenge on the one who conned her father.
I connected with Joo Eun's conflict between the need for revenge and the strong desire for a normal life . She basically gave up her revenge to live her dream of normalcy, only to be betrayed by the one who was meant to fulfill her dream. It's obvious by the end of second episode, she's going to be all in. There's a lot of depth even in the first 2 episodes and oh my goodness, so much fun! And I am SO HAPPY to see Tae Won Seok in this drama, I loved him in Player.
I love this drama so much. It has me squealing and laughing hysterically every episode. What really surprised me is Leo Luo. I don't think I've enjoyed him in anything he's done so far and I never really got his appeal. But this drama has completely changed my opinion of him and I'll definitely be looking out for his dramas in the future. His chemistry with Bai Lu (who I love) is so out of this world and they've really perfected bickering like an old married couple.
This would be a 10/10 so far if the second couple had more chemistry. I tune out of their scenes and also Kido Gao's scenes because I don't really understand why they matter at all. All I care about is seeing this couple get together and for them to be a power couple in the investment world, The pacing of their relationship is perfect so far and I am so looking forward to (and dreading) the end of this drama (I have high hopes for this one).
I am so in love with this drama. This is the drama I'm telling my friends to watch as an introduction to Chinese dramas. Everything is so well done - the writing, the acting, the pacing.
I'm so glad they extended this drama to 46 episodes, I want it to last forever if it can. But I also know, it is better for it to end than for it to go on forever. The vibes of this drama remind me of Reply 1988, but perhaps I like this better because I relate to it more as I'm Chinese.
It hasn't finished yet but if you're still hesitating to watch this, please don't. You won't regret embarking on this wonderful journey.
There was a lot of chemistry between ML and FL, that carried the entire drama. I'm not the biggest fan of Liang Jie having watched a few of her dramas, but I thought she did really well in this one. Xin Yun Lai was definitely a nice surprise and I'm going to be watching out for his future works, hopefully he gets some more ML roles after this.
This is a typical, fluffy, romantic comedy full of tropes and cliches. It was still a fun watch. I really wish they didn't relegate He Yu Wen to be the jealous partner, I actually really liked her character before she turned into the illogical , jealous, 'you-don't-deserve-him' second female lead. I would have much preferred her to have her own love story and remained a good partner to ML and a big sister to FL. But alas, they wrote her to be the absolute worst.
The drama would have been better as a 24 ep drama rather than 31 eps, it definitely dragged and I ended up skipping a lot of the rubbish and just watched the adorable moments between the ML/FL.
The little sister was the absolute best. I'm pretty sure I decided to not give up on the drama when she turned up, I wish they had more scenes with her in it. I feel so bad for the FL's uncle. What a horrible family he's stuck with, but also, he absolutely deserves them having watched them basically abuse the FL her entire childhood and did absolutely nothing.
All in all, a great drama to watch whilst I was knitting, washing the dishes and pottering around the house.
I decided to watch this because of Seven Tan, not knowing what to expect, and it's honestly been one of the most well written, well directed shows I've watched in 2020. I'm up to episode 8, hopefully it doesn't go downhill and continues being a stellar drama.
Even though Oho Ou is definitely the lead character, the entire cast ensemble stands out. The love triangle has been set up well (rare in chinese drama realm) and there's enough chemistry between the three characters for me to get excited for when the romance hits the screens. It's action packed, humorous, dramatic, great fight scenes. I'm loving it so far! Fingers crossed it stays that way (I try not to be hopeful because there have been very few chinese dramas that have kept my attention through the entire series)
The romance should be non political and not censorship worthy so if it was cut, maybe it is because it was just…
Yeah, I found her pretty annoying too. I think my problem is the scenes they cut was essential to the He Ying/Ye Chong storyline. Without those scenes, there were so many moments where I was just like....'huh?' It made the drama incoherent, I was constantly taken out of the drama trying to figure out what happened in between scenes.
There are many others floating around, it's disappointing, they cut a lot of key scenes to the plotline, especially the ML & FL storyline. A lot of the plot felt incoherent, but after watching these scenes, it made a lot more sense. It probably would have been better for the drama if they went all in with the romance or cut it out altogether. This half-half business really ruined the story for me.
General Sato... hmmmmHe Ying ask for Ye Chong’s house keys and he just gives it to her. There is no relationship…
The relationship between Ye Chong and He Ying is definitely disappointing. I blame it on the way they cut the episodes, they cut a lot of the scenes the FL was in. I watched all the deleted/cut scenes and the relationship between the two makes a lot more sense and better developed.
I can't get over this drama. Whilst it wasn't perfect, I loved Allen Ren and Seven Tan in this. Lu Yi and Yuan…
Also, Xie Xiao is the most annoying character. As much as his obsession with Jin Xia allowed for some good comedic moments, his immaturity and childishness made him so unlikeable to me. Which is unfortunate, because it meant the second most annoying character goes to Shang Guan Xi for HER obsession with Xie Xiao. She only became likeable when she got over him.
I can't get over this drama. Whilst it wasn't perfect, I loved Allen Ren and Seven Tan in this. Lu Yi and Yuan Jin Xia's story was written so beautifully. I loved the comedic moments, and how much of a badass Jin Xia is. Highly recommended!
That scene between Ji Sung and Lee Se Young after Gi Seok dies in Episode 15 without music is Ji Sung at his very…
My other comment about this drama is, I am so mad at whoever did Lee Se Young's hair. It was so distracting in so many big moments, it took away from this drama which is so painful to say, because the writing of this drama was actually quite brilliant. By the end of the drama, even when she had her hair up, I just kept seeing the hair extensions., ugh.
That scene between Ji Sung and Lee Se Young after Gi Seok dies in Episode 15 without music is Ji Sung at his very best. Lee Se Young managed to match him which is equally impressive. I'm going to watch that scene over and over again and just admire what a great actor Ji Sung is
There were so many goodbyes and I cried ugly tears - this drama was really the perfect package. From music to cinematography to fashion (how I wish I had Jang Man Wol's wardrobe and hairstylist) to all the guest stars, it was a really entertaining watch. The cast was amazing and oh my god, where can I find myself a Goo Chan Sung, who only puts the interest of others before his own.
Thank you Hong Sisters for gifting us with another wonderful drama, I enjoyed every minute of every episode.
Whilst Go Ara is not the most versatile actress, there is an authenticity and earnestness to her acting. I think the earnestness is what can be annoying at times, especially if the character she’s playing requires more subtlety, it ends up coming off as overboard and desperate. But I enjoy her acting in the roles that play to her strengths.
I liked her in You’re All Surrounded and Miss Hammurabi, and currently watching her in Haechi.
I'm currently watching this and loved the first episode. But after she returned to the past, I'm getting so frustrated at Shi Jian's character. First, she stalks Yi Peng and was like...' don't you recognise me?' Girl, you're in the past. He's never met you. Then she goes and stalks Song Xiao Jing for an entire day with the goal of meeting her boyfriend - Jia Cheng. And then she basically stalks Jia Cheng, steals his number, and does all this creepy stuff. What are her expectations? That he's going to turn around and go - oh my god, you're my wife ?!? And she goes and tells her mum, while she's dating another guy she hasn't broken up with yet, that her future husband is going to be Jia Cheng?
I'm thinking about dropping it but I have a feeling it will get good once they get over this whole bit. It's just so hard to watch right now. Thanks for reading my little rant :)
Xiao tai or whatever the hell her name is getting on my last nerve.
The storyline for Xiao Tai and Gao Meng Fei is absolutely ridiculous. None of their actions make any sense. I really liked both of them at the start, so disappointing.
