This is a beautiful drama focusing on mental health and all the stigmas around it. The stories are realistic but filled with warmth, empathy and kindness. It's not perfect, but I felt it did a really good job of educating the public about the importance of mental health. The actors did a wonderful job portraying some really difficult emotions and stories. Though there is romance, I felt the most rewarding part of the drama was the stories of each survivor. I think this drama is more than entertainment, it brings awareness to a topic that is often misunderstood in our culture.
It was fine until the betrayal was revealed. Then it tainted everything and nothing could save the plot. It was manipulative, controlling and abusive. Sad, I really liked everything up until that point.
The ending would have been far more satisfying if either Shi Hyun or Soo Min died saving the other - Shi Hyun dying to protect Gyeong Mi's sister or Soo Min dying to fulfil her promise to help him return to being a cop. Or if Hyeong Min died paying for his father's crimes leaving Shi Hyun/Soo Min to live out their dreams as upstanding officers. There were so many ways to have ended it but somehow they found the most unsatisfactory way to end a wonderful drama. I can't say the ending ruined the drama because it really did captivate me from beginning to end....but it just didn't feel satisfying - the good guys didn't really win, they lost far too much.
Still, it was a wonderful drama and I don't regret watching it in the least. I loved the complexities within all the relationships and characters. JKH shined in this drama. Definitely worth watching.
It took a few tries for me to get into this drama. Luo Yi and tiffany Tang's characters don't really interact until around Ep 19 when a lot of the misunderstandings are resolved. They spend those 19 episodes setting up the characters and the story. I'm currently up to Ep 23 and the romance is starting to ramp up.
Honestly, if it wasn't for Luo Yi and Tiffany Tang, I would not have stuck with this drama. But now that I have, I can't help but love the storyline and the characters - not just the main characters but all the side characters too (except for stalker dude). I'm hoping they don't mess up the ending, but I would say for now - this is a great drama that requires a lot of patience. If you have patience, definitely stick with it - so far, it's been worth it.
This drama isn’t without its faults, but it is far superior to many others. I loved Tiffany Tang’s character - intelligent, witty, brave, loyal and the list goes on. Of all the Chinese period dramas I have watched, Wei Young is by far my favourite female character - I loved it even more that she is the main character and it was about her growth as a person. The only other female character I have enjoyed this much is Chu Qian from Princess agents....but we all know how they ruined that drama with that stupid ending.
