This is my most anticipated this year. But I have to say, the shots that were shown in the preview have that plastic Netflix look. Hopefully the script is super good.
Absolutely incredible movie. Possibly one of the best war movies of all time. As a Westerner, I didn't detect any overt propaganda. The last 5 minutes are stuck in my head.
How come such an amazing tv show produced in a country with real shitty politics? It doesn't make sense.
Because private businesses are allowed to exist. When private businesses exist, power is more decentralized. So the government might want to be a dictator, but they don't have the power to stop private businesses from doing what they want.
Bae Sung Woo was by far the standout actor for me. Most of his storyline wasn't technically that interesting, but he just has this charismatic presence that makes you pay attention when he's on screen.
All actors are great, but Bae Sung Woo and Seolhyun are stealing the show. Especially Bae Sung Woo. He hasn't had much to work with imo - a confused detective is not that interesting of a trope at face value. But all his scenes are super interesting because of his charisma.
A+ on acting, cinematography, concept. That said, having finished episode 4, the writing is sometimes hit-or-miss. Some things conveniently happen "just because," which cheapens the feel a bit. Also, it's clear they were trying to create a looping effect in some scenes, but it needed something to emphasize this. Otherwise, as others said, the storytelling feels a bit jumbled.
Could you give some good jdrama recs? I only primarily watch k and c dramas, trying to expand
Gannibal and Sutekina Sen Taxi are both extremely excellent. Gannibal is billed as "horror" but there's like 2 minutes of horror in it. Most of it is a high quality detective drama.
I don't see why someone would need to have a "rugged face" to wear a beard. And it doesn't look bad to me at all,…
You don't have to have a rugged face, but some faces just don't work. These beards look like they were taped on. Remind me of Byun Yo Han's beard in Mr. Sunshine.
Lots of comments about being disappointed. Don't forget season 1 had truly some of the worst writing in K-drama. The first few episodes started off amazing, and then it ended so poorly. The Cha Hyun Su actor also can't act.
Tried so hard to get into this, but the writing seems bad. There's so much tell, and not enough show. It's like they always stumble upon exactly what they need.
I like Blackthorne and Mariko a lot as individual characters. But thought the romance was completely unnecessary.
They need to cast more actors with rugged faces in these roles, like Ryu Seung Ryong.
There's maybe only like 10 minutes total of anything horror-related. It's more of a detective theme.
