Cisgender as I understand is a person whose gender identity aligns with the sex they were assigned at birth. Basically the opposite of transgender. There is no debate that the ML is born a man. I called him cisgendered because I understood his gender identity to also be a man. He identifies as a man. Now, there is also gender expression, which I am just learning about, which is different from gender identity. Gender expression is how someone expresses or performs their gender outwardly — through clothing, hairstyle, voice, mannerisms, etc. Because the ML cross dresses, he can be described as androgynous. Many examples of cisgender heterosexual male who are androgynous - Harry Styles, Prince, David Bowie, Jared Leto, etc.

You are only technically correct when you say that at no point in the series does he state that he identifies as heterosexual. It is quite evident that he is heterosexual because the only person he ever shows any romantic interest towards is the FL only. He is not shown to have any romantic or sexual interest in any man in the series. That would not have been the case if he was gay or bi. I also would not call him gender fluid, because gender fluidity means a person's gender identity changes over time. I did not get that impression. Just because a man chooses to cross-dress does not mean he stops identifying as a man (that whole thing about gender identity vs. gender expression).

So my take on the ML is:
Sex (Biological) = Male;
Gender Identity = Man;
Gender Expression = Androgynous;
Sexual Orientation = Heterosexual;

Just to be clear, I'm not asking whether I should stick to this drama or not watch it. I'm capable of making that decision on my own. I'm simply asking if the fluff and the filler stuff continues beyond episode 2.

I don't have a specific "trope", I keep an open mind. Life is extremely busy right now, so I don't typically have a lot of patience for long dramas that have 20+ episodes that engage in a lot of filler and fluff. I don't find that to be a pleasant viewing experience. So far from the first 2 episodes I see a lot of that unwanted stuff. So was curious to see if things improve or the fluff is consistent in later episodes.

I finished watching the first 2 episodes and so far there seems to be a lot of fluff and filler stuff in those two episodes. I'm keeping an open mind and will continue to watch at least a couple of more episodes in the hope that the story moves at a faster pace and the fluff and filler stuff is cut down.

Does anyone know if the story beyond episode 2 moves at a quick pace or if there is still lot of fluff and filler and silliness interspersed?

I didn't think the male lead in this drama identified himself as non-binary or gender fluid. As far as I could tell, he identified as a cisgendered heterosexual male. Which is what intrigued me as to why he was cross-dressing. I don't think the drama did a good job of explaining to its audience as to why he was doing that. One of the posters responded to my question saying that cross-dressing is really just another hobby and seemed to imply that cross-dressing has nothing to do with sex assigned at birth, gender identify or sexual orientation.

Very interesting! As someone who has lived in multiple countries and multiple places, I personally do not know any man who identifies themselves as both a cisgendered male as well as a heterosexual male who crossdress. I doubt this "hobby" is very prevalent in that demographic cohort (cisgendered and heterosexual men) that this male lead belongs to. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with it. I'm also not judging. To each his own. I was just trying to understand becase like I said I don't associate this activity with this particular cohort and I personally didn't think this drama did a good job with explaining to it's audience.

I have never heard anyone referring to cross dressing as a hobby. When I think of hobbies, I think of activities like painting, writing, hiking, dancing, singing, gaming, stamp collecting, playing sport. I would've never categorized cross dressing as a hobby.

So, I am a little confused. From what I gathered, the ML Hikaru is born a man (Sex = Male, assigned at birth). He also identifies as a man (Gender Identity = Male). He is attracted to and has romantic feelings for the Female Lead. So all indications are that Hikaru is a cisgendered heterosexual man. I do not quite understand then as to why Hikaru is cross-dressing?
