That seems highly out of character for people like Heo Yeom, Park Jin and Jang Kang to slaughter innocent people like that in the name of collateral damage. But okay, your explanation/theory is noted although I'm not so sure I agree with it.

By why did they wipe out the entire family? Also it was said that the girl escaped, which means that the little girl also would've been slaughtered had she not escaped (she was hiding).

This is the big elephant in the room for me because I think this is the devastating fate that is awaiting Naksu / Mu Deok and will meet unless something dramatic happens where they can try to avoid it.
