"homophobic parents are the villains" trope was broken. Both sets of parents are supportive of their children's sexuality and the parents are never treated as villains.

"misogynistic controlling older brother" trope was broken. When Wai expresses a romantic interest in Pa, Pat doesn’t fall into the common misogynistic “don’t touch my sister” response, but rather says it is up to his sister, encouraging Wai to go for it.

"best friends of male leads must also be a couple" trope was broken. Wai and Korn are best friends of Pran and Pat respectively and while BB flirted with making them a couple, they are not in a romantic relationship.

“crazy ex-girlfriend” trope was broken. Ink, a girl from Pat and Pran’s past is initially presented as a potential threat to their coming together. Ink is not only uninterested in either of them romantically, but is supportive of their relationship. Past that, she has identities and interests outside of her relationships to the male leads.
Oh cool. Well, now it makes sense why people are shipping Wai-Korn. I was like am I the only one who doesn't care for a Wai-Korn romantic pairing? LOL.
Has anyone spoken about the 4th wall being broken at the end of 12 4/4 -It’s done a lot in the Deadpool movie…
Also for the uninitiated - The fourth wall is a performance convention in which an invisible, imagined wall separates actors from the audience. While the audience can see through this "wall", the convention assumes the actors act as if they cannot.
I know Jose talked about what breaking the fourth wall is but I felt I'd mention What IS the fourth wall.

They did break the fourth wall. I felt like Pran's dad also to some extent broke the fourth wall when he and his wife (Pran's Mom) were listening to Pat and Pran playing the music and chatting in Pran's room and Pran's Dad says - "This show is too good". I felt like he was talking to the audience with that statement.
