I'm rewatching the 1997 and 2001 adaptions of Smiling Proud Wanderer. More recent adaptations always ruin my fav…
I have seen the 2001 adaptation of SPW with Li Yapeng. I thought the actress that played Ren Yingying was soooo good in that adaptation. I also did see the 2013 adaptation with Wallace Huo and Joe Chen. Now this adaptation diverges significantly from the book where they show a romantic angle between Linghu Chong and Dongfang Bubai, which I have to admit I didn't mind. LOL. I know I know it is not the story but faithfulness to the novel is not a big criteria for me as long as the drama is well made. Also I thought Joe Chen was great as Dongfang Bubai.
