Watched the 1st episode,is a good drama...but I have the same feeling I had when I watched "the moon embracing…
The actors portraying the younger version were really good.
SHK’s acting is fine (I actually like her here more than her previous works). It matches DE’s older self personality wise. As for IJW as the older YJ, it’s watchable, not bad but the actress that played the younger YJ has a cooler charisma onscreen.
For the life of me I can’t understand how some describe the romance aspect as subtle or not being overt here.…
KES is obviously throwing in the romance stuff in there but the genre of the show isnt really a romance (compared to her previous work) so it doesn’t bother me as much (we’ll see what happens in the second half). This drama could have gone without any romance elements altogether. But yeah I totally agree about KES. I personally think she is terrible at writing romances or atleast convincing one’s. It always feels contrived and forced, like she has to include it just for the sake of it lol.
I hope this really is a revenge story that stays true as a revenge story till the very end & won’t cop out. Enough of those moral compass-forgiveness stuff.
I think the husband will take his wife's side no matter how brutal she is. He was tricked by the FL, paternity…
Yep.
Seemed like he had a hunch about YJ before but doesn’t want to open that pandora box of bad things. I mean if word gets out that his wife was a bully, cheater, etc that would impact his image. Just like DE said - she and YJ lives in a diff world. DY also belongs in the same world as YJ. Wealthy affluent family with great jobs & perfect house & public image to uphold. That’s all he knows. He may sympathize with DE but he will most likely choose what’s best for himself.
Finished all 8 Ep & I overall really enjoyed it. It’s completely different from KES’s previous works (which I dislike). Also, the production, from directing & cinematography.
A diff & more nuance approach to a revenge story without silly makjang elements or the main character being a physical fighter-cop/FBI agent. I like that DE is a regular person but is capable & smart-strategic. I like that we get to see DE’s character with depth aside from the trauma & revenge stuff. I adore her friendship with the female characters a lot! I hope DE wins all the way. I’m rooting for her.
My issue with KES’s writing has always been the romance aspect. So I’m glad the romance stuff is not overt in here & leans more as a female lead-centric story and her relationships with people she meets.
The Devil was chosen by entertainment industry insiders as the most anticipated tv show (non-OTT series) for 2023! 🤩 ✨

“The combination of Writer, Director and Actors that you can trust', 'Writer Kim Eun Hee's name is the genre' and 'Expectations of Kim Tae Ri and Oh Jung Se acting' become the reasons why people in entertainment industry choose 'The Devil' as Most Anticipated Drama in 2023.”
I just realized now that this is Red Sleeve director's project, made me more excited.
Yep!
Seems like several companies are investing in this project. Most likely & hopefully will have a good budget production since it is set in 1950’s. Excited for the set designs & costumes. ☺️
DE wanted MY to get a confession out of YJ that she was the one who killed Sohee.
Why did JYJ searched for it? Probably to look at the body in more detail to get diff autopsy report? It was ruled as suicide but maybe it wasn’t.

I love the FL clothes. She looks great! I’m definitely on board for more romcom with older actors.
His eyes is captivating. 💕✨
It’s a Supernatural mystery thriller.
Excited to see what happens in part 2.
