Is there any similarity of this show to the US series, Russian Doll? I'm thinking of watching it unless it's the…
If you mean by similarity as in re-living a day over and over, then this is the only thing that both shows have in common. This isn't a new concept either, it's been very famous in Groundhog Day, Happy Death Day, Edge of Tomorrow, just to name a few
I do. She should be punished much more severely, I don't know what's like living forever and experience all kind…
It's so annoying that out of the only 2 good members of the family, both of them died, while the 3 awful ones lived on *eyeroll
Jing Yang suddenly changing his character after 100 years is so unbelievable and pretty lame tbh lol. I would rather they killed him off in the last battle
yes, the twins are his brothers kids. thats the reason, why she returns to to palace (she thinks her lover is…
that's not right, she returned to the palace because of her dad who is suffering in a prison somewhere and the only way she can save him is to get close to the emperor again
I think she would've been willing to bring up the children on her own but had to disguise them as the emperor's since she wanted to return
Anyone else feels that Wuhuan didn't get enough retribution? She became insane but she still has a daughter who loves her and takes care of her.... how is that okay compared to everything she did?
Also, annoyed with the fact that Jing Zhao didn't get any punishment at all for plotting to murder Bai Jue?! I thought they mentioned that it's an unforgivable crime that will cause you to lose your life lol
I am on episode 12 and struggling to continue. Not because of the storyline or actors - both are more than ok.…
Not sure why your comment was misunderstood but I completely get what you meant about it being unrealistic. It doesn't get any better at all, she continues behaving in manners that would have gotten someone beheaded immediately in any other drama, but every situation always turns in her favour at the end. Towards the 2nd half of the show, the emperor will always unequivocally believe in her, even if there are 1001 evidences against her. It's quite ridiculous, tbh. That's not to say i didn't enjoy this show, it's entertaining but also why it's not god tier for me.
If you're looking for a highly realistic historical harem palace drama where everyone has to be super careful around the emperor (as it should have been in history) and one wrong move can cause you your life, you should watch Legend of Zhen Huan. That show is undoubtedly god tier.
is it good???? also is zhang yuxi acting as an antagonist or not bcs i'm watching it for her and i don't want…
She's not the antagonist at all, she's actually one of the side couples and even has quite good character development. If anything, you will feel heartache for her too, but you'll know why when you watch it.
Why did you drop TMOBP? It has EVERYTHING you described that you liked: strong & independent FL, slow burn romance…
Happy to answer your questions! I've watched TMOPB 5 times so I would like to think i'm qualified to answer them :D
1. It was not instant attraction. They eventually fell in love but it didn't take super long either. But that's because, there are actually a few "lifetimes" to their romance, so the first arc (when they met and fell in love) couldn't be too long, but throughout the entire series where they met a lot of obstacles, the slow burn is REAL.
2. Actually, since you've only watched till episode 5, I don't think that you've even seen the actual ML yet! It's reaaaally hard for me not to give a long ass paragraph in answer because the ML is definitely one of the reigning favourite MLs in the cdrama fandom :) He is actually my favourite as well. He has all the above qualities that you mentioned, and also super self-sacrificing and loves the FL more than anything else. He is very serious and intimidating to others, but shows his soft and gentle side only to the FL and is very sweet to her. Since you've watched and loved L&R, he is on par with SiFeng when it comes to how much he loves the FL.
3. The angst in this is SO GOOD. Seriously, SO GOOD! The main antagonist is a jealous rival, and does a lot of things to break up the ML and FL's relationship. Unlike L&R, the ML doesn't get misled at all and he actually hates the antagonist who is super in love with him, but there are a lot of circumstantial dilemmas that causes the ML not being able to do what he really wants. There are also tons of obstacles created by this jealous rival, but it's incredibly satisfying at the end (you'll see what I mean!) The ML does exhibit jealously here and there as well, because both the ML and FL are considered to be the best looking people in their world and have tons of people dying to be with them lol xD
Give TMOPB another try, and I believe you will find it as good as or even better than L&R :) I think Pillow Book is nowhere as good as Peach Blossom, tons of people say that! Also, Dong Hua and Feng Jiu's romance started in Peach Blossom, so it would be more linear for you if you watched it first!
I'm adding you as a friend because I want to see you go through the amazing masterpiece that is TMOPB <3
I've been considering on watching this drama , but I'm not too sure if it's my type of drama so I do have a few…
Why did you drop TMOBP? It has EVERYTHING you described that you liked: strong & independent FL, slow burn romance with trials and tribulations. Certainly not in the first 5 episodes, but it definitely pays off if you hold out! If you really want to, I can tell you when the first romance arc starts.
But to answer your question about L&R, yes the FL is quite strong and independent and definitely there's slow-burn romance too.
Felt that Lin Mo's arc can definitely be longer, especially the suspense surrounding smiley. There is plenty of background story opportunity that could be developed on that wasn't explained, unfortunately. I wouldn't have minded if it was a well-developed 24 episode drama.

Think this clip agrees with you: https://youtu.be/dF-CUYhdHG4Basically saying there's no chemistry btw Sifeng…
I watched the video and I don't think I will be watching this show.... I agree with everyone on how Zhao Ying Zi totally doesn't give the youthful vibes needed for the role and looks like ML's mum or something. Despite the actors being similar in actual age.
This spoils the drama for me, wish they had cast a different FL actress instead.

The FL and ML first cross paths on episode 11 and that is the start of their epic romance. That first arc is incredibly sweet :)

but please hold out, the sweet moments are SO worth it
